Character Generation

Players may opt for any of the core four races in the Expanded Rules (Dralasite, Human, Vrusk, and Yazirian). I'm okay with the honor system of ability score generation, as long as it isn't the overly obvious munchkin-max-in-every-ability. 8-) You may pick any one KH ship skill at first level and receive the prerequisite skills associated with it. Declare a primary skill area (PSA) and you also get 25XP for skills in that field, non-PSA skills, improvement of PR skills for your ship skill, ability score improvements, and/or racial ability improvements...spend them as you like but you only get 25 (and remember that non-PSA skills cost double). The only thing you can not improve with these XP is your level-1 ship skill.

You get a Standard Equipment Pack (minus the grenade and medical supplies) and 5,000Cr to purchase equipment from the rulebooks. Do not waste this money on a space suit as those will be made available by the Royal Marines.

Background
Growing up on Dramune's Outer Reach, Gret never fit in with his human and Vrusk neighbors. Prone to fits of anger, he was expelled from school many times. When his father and mother died in a tragic hover car accident, he lost the only people he was ever really comfortable with and the only link he had on Outer Reach to his Yazarian heritage. Gret found a new family in the "Outcasts" hoverbike club (of course they refer to themselves as "Hover Biking enthusiasts"). With in this type of society he found outlets for his rage and a sense of belonging. This too was short lived as the club was broken after a incident with Star Law rangers. Fast feet, gliding and the anonymity of youth kept him from prison like most of his fellow riders. Stealing the bike he rides now, a Streel Corp "Tomar's Iron Horse", he went on the run for a year. Running was the only option he could see until his need for family sent him looking to the military. Gret has always wanted to be the good guy but temper and circumstances have never been his allies.

Isn't Outer Reach a poisonous, volcanic, radioactive, hellhole?
Only useful as a planet sized mine, and the only inhabitants live in the space station, and on the moon(s)?

Yes, you get the level-1 ship skill and the pre-reqs free...so Engineering-1 would get Tech-4 & Robotics-2
Pick a PSA and you get 25XP to spend as you see fit for anything except improving the ship skill.

Background:

Rex was raised on the legends of his pirate busting grand uncle who fought, and died in SWI.

Idolizing his uncle and idealizing the UPF, Rex inlisted as soon as he came of age and attended Gollwin Academy for 1 1/2 years, qualifying top of his class in piloting classes, but not doing so well in other academics, he held a place firmly in the middle of his class.

However his roommates were not entirely as upstanding as he.

Midway through the second year his roommates were imbroiled in a nearly academy wide cheating scandle, involving even instructors and the Assistant Commandant.

Rex, though innocent of any involvement, was expelled nonetheless.

Family connections and High marks in piloting garnered him a commission in the Clarion Royal Marines.

Rex is understably bitter about the afair, and has developed a jaded attitude toward the UPF.

Background:
Budded on Gran Quivera to a dralasite from Inner Reach. While travelling home to Dramune system for its “Gaining of Voice” ceremony the ship was attacked by pirates. Taken prisoner by the pirates after they killed his parent, he was a slave on the pirate vessel for 2 years. The pirates eventually ran afoul of the Royal Marines and Delorum was rescued then sent back to Gran Quivera an orphan because it was his planet of birth despite his dralasite lineage and parent’s social school being on Inner Reach.

He had a tough youth on the streets of Gran Quivera and was given a choice by a magistrate to join Ground Fleet or go to jail. The structure and regimentation of Ground Fleet appealed to it but due to the small size of that service advancement was near glacial. Eventually, it contracted as a mercenary with Galactic Task Force for a decade but became disillusioned with mercenary work. Fond memories of the Royal Marines who rescued him from the pirates led it to come to Clarion system and join the Royal Marines.

He has endeavored to connect with the culture of his parrent's birth planet ie dying its skin to reflect his mood of the day but largely he just dyes a "war face" with dark or black colors in a fierce looking pattern.

Background:




Grether grew up wandering the spacelanes. His family operated a small ship and worked from contract to contract. For his formal schooling, Grethaer's family basically homeschooled him. Sure, he had interactions with others, mostly at station stops, but they never stayed long enough in any locale to form traditional friendships. When Grether came age, he decided to set on on his own for a while, to see things from a new perspective. He signed on with the planetary militia on Cass ( Devco System ) for a term just for the experience; due to his skillset, he was assigned as an engineering tech. He gained insight into policing, tracking pirates, and even some knowledge about the Cassidine Development Corporation. Socially awkward, this granted Grether the opportunity to learn how to interact with acquaintances and strangers on a prolonged basis; not just for economic reasons. Upon his completion of the term, Grether sought out a new employer to run with for a bit.

Looks good...we're going strictly RAW Alpha Dawn & KH so no language skills. Also, don't forget double XP for non-PSA skills --- so that's 6XP each for those lv-1 military skills, putting you over. Dropping one of those three military skills puts you at 24XP and the leftover can go to battle rage at 6%. Also, a background description and pic/caricature can get you up to 5 bonus XP

Nope, the ship skill and corresponding pre-reqs are the free skills. You get 25XP above and beyond that to spend as you see fit --- be it on other skills, improving the pre-req skills, improving ability scores, and improving racial abilities. Anything but improving the ship skill.

Background:
Drak Sunstar is a human who was always interested in what makes things work. His father was an exceptional starship engineer, but was off-world doing repair work at the space stations in the system. His uncle owned a local robotics repair shop nearby, so when his dad was off-world, he would spend time with his uncle learning how robots work. His uncle realized his level of interest and gave him a part time job helping around the shop. He eventually got some schooling in a robotics skill and once he got old enough, his uncle would let him help with fixing and updating the combat and security robots along with all the other robots that needed work. Tinkering and testing their weapons eventually gave him the ability to fire beam weapons as well.
When Drak got older, he realized that robotics did not interest him as much as the starship stories that he father would tell him, so he applied to get additional schooling and went to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Drak is about 1.82 meters tall, 82.5 kg, green eyes, brown hair and a medium complexion and a fairly good-looking young man. He was born on Prenglar on the 27th Day of the 86th Federation Year. He speaks fluent Pan Galactic and some local slang from Prenglar that he learned growing up.

Zak Sunstar is a human and younger cousin of Drak Sunstar, the engineer. He was always interested in how people’s bodies worked and how to heal them. He also had a strong desire to serve in the military since other members of his family made that their careers as well. While going through the intensive training to become a gunner on a starship, they realized he had an aptitude for medicine and put him through a medic program as soon as he was done.
Zak has now decided to follow his cousin Drak in search of fame and honor. They both hope to serve on the same ship, but at long as they are at the same home base, they will get to hang out together during their downtime.
Zak is about 1.79 meters tall, 81.3 kg, blue eyes, blonde hair and a light medium complexion. He was born on Prenglar on the 77th Day of the 87th Federation Year. He speaks fluent Pan Galactic and some local slang from Prenglar that he learned growing up.
