Looking good so far, and you got the Wound roll right as well!

Put my character in place, still have to add stuff from career and such but wanted it in there for now.

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
@GM: I think I am pretty much done except for a couple of items:
How to pick starting spells?
I would assume the character would start w/ spell components, correct?
Do I need a spellbook?
I think I qualify for: roll straight down and keep will award 50xp, I did not exchange or mod any rolls.
Is there a way to get another roll or similar concerning magic points?
Thanks!

@Springtree
You do indeed start with 50 bonus xp!
Apprentice Wizards start the game with (2) Petty Magic Spells of their choosing and I believe their components are inconsequential that you can start with the components available.
Spellbooks don't seem to be required from what I've read even for the Wizard career so you should be fine, but if your character wanted to buy a book and writing equipment to make his own go for it!
Sadly the only way to gain more MP is to advance your career where you will be rolling 4d4 each level of wizard you take.
But...if you're willing to take a point of corruption I'd say you could reroll your current MP total of you wish.
Also it looks like you have Cool listed in your advance scheme by accident and you still have a free advance to take for your career as a part of character creation.

Going back through your list of house rules, I see I messed up rolling Strength and Toughness. Guess I'll adjust that in the morning.

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
Got a question. By your house rules, does it take 100 EP to raise the stats by 1 or +5%, different from the normal +10%?

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
Yes, basically each +10% advance becomes two +5% advances that cost 100 EP each like how second edition handles advances.
Wound and Attack advances stay the same (100EP to raise them +1). Strength and Toughness are converted to 10% per +1 advance.
I believe your character is also missing his Hunter trappings which is a Hand Weapom and a Bow or Crossbow with ammo.

So... It is slowing down the character advancement?

I think I am done. Selected two spells, updated with 50xp and took the wounds advance of +1. Not going to buy other equipment until I know what were up to, where we are going.

Yeah 1e has a bit of a problem with fast advancement, characters end up switching to multiple careers too quickly and then end up having no where to go. But this is a PbP game so I suppose advancement would be slow already...maybe I should rethink this, what are your guys' thoughts?

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
I think that depends on how often you are going to hand out EP and how often we can utilize it. If the rate is going to be slow, then slowing down the characters doesn't let us feel like we are getting anywhere. I do remember that issue with 1E and moving from career to career quickly. But, when you played twice a month and could get upwards of 300 EP at times (we ran for 8 hours most times), you did advance quick.
So, I guess it really depends on how you are thinking the game will run with the rewards and adjust from there. I'm fine either way, I just asked the question to make sure I was understanding what was happening.
Guess I never did read 2E and see what the differences were. But, by that time, I was steeped into Champions as the main RPG played in my group.

I do think PBP will slow down the advancement considerably already. I am fine either way through.

BTW, done with my character.
...except I haven't really named him yet. Guess I should think about that as you look it over for any issues.

Let's try to get some more folks onboard.

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
Character is looking good Von Alric!
I think we'll curb the advancement house rule for the time being PbP will be slow enough I think. So go ahead and convert any +5% advancements back to the original +10% and I'll remove it from the house rules thread.

I'll shoot a message two our other two players and see how they're doing, I'll see if anyone else is interested also. If you know anyone that would be interested let me know we can take up to 6 players in total.spanningtree wrote:Let's try to get some more folks onboard.

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
I am here trying to refresh my memory. Haven't played WF since 1989 when I was stationed in Germany.
I am thinking Dwarf - Warrior Class. Hopefully the rolls will be with me.

Re: The Red Moon Inn (OOC)
Alright, so I rolled up a rogue to try to balance what everyone else has already gone with. As a result, please meet Eva Rotlicht, 16 year old Bawd. I random rolled for race, Shallya's mercy Dex and Cool, and went with Bawd as my first random roll for career, so I was able to finish character creation with an extra 100 XP put towards an advance in Fellowship.
