The Big Picture (what have I gotten myself into?)

The plan is to run a series of encounters using the unarmed combat rules as found throughout D&D history. This may go well, it may not. I'm going to do my best to make it fun, at least. Thank you all for indulging me.

I've always enjoyed the unarmed options in the editions and never really got a chance to focus on them. Sure, the occasional brawl or prison escape, but that was usually used as a precursor to weapon use.
As many have possibly noticed, some editions are more friendly than others. I get the impression that the rules aren't meant to be used against armed opponents, so I wanted to try out using them in a non-lethal environment.

We're going to initially use the unarmed combat rules from 1E DMG, that most on the internet deem unusable. We'll see. And of course, we have to start in a tavern. Where we go from there is to be seen.
