Galmit seeing the fallen friend on the ground strikes the next axe-beak in line.
Dwarven battleaxe +1 [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12 to hit, [1d8+2] = 4+2 = 6 dmg

Tollander takes a swing with his enhanced Blessed Knuckles, but the boggy ground under his feet gives him no purchase.
Blessed Knuckles of Holy Fury (vs Living). To Hit: [1d20] = 8 (THACO:16) Damage: [1d4+3] = 1+3 = 4

Golgarth
the knight in waiting is distraught that one of the men who followed his call to explore gets fatally injured in the swamp. He stands over the body swinging his sword and trying to shield the body from desecration while his blood pumps out, colouring the mud in crimson. "Is the wound too grievous to be healed?" he asks, for all his martial training he has limited battle experience. At least with his mason skills he can cut a could tombstone.
Golgarth party initiative [1d6] = 6
Golgarth longsword [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8 [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9

The Axe-beak Reed beds:
The party win initiative and carry the fight to the voracious axe-beak predators. The hungry pre-historic flightless birds are assaulted by numerous blows but all fail to find a mark, the thick coarse feathers of the ostrich like bodies reflecting the slash and hack attempts of the party and Tollander fails to land a knock out blow with this fists. The group are driven backwards, away from the reeds and their protective custody of the fallen cleric. The quartet of beasts that remain snap at the tasty morsel lying in front of them. Sten's body on the ground. It is easier prey to peck at and they flock around his lifeless body to strike into him and tear away more flesh. It is a grim death, more than fatally wounded by the many stab wounds. The consolation being as the birds claim morsels it gives you space to flee the scene if you desire.
next actions please.

Dawg Dann
as I understand then, the Axe-beaks are ripping Sten apart and stand between us and a retreat to the barge. So unless we choose to fight on, we should use the rounds they bicker to get off the reed banks and find thus bogling ruin.
"Baudh bless his soul. If it was 'his time' then there is little to be done. We should mourn him later. Let's go."

Griswold let the creature run to the corpse, as he doesnt have the skills to harm the creature.
(OOC: is there any object that belonged to him, that we could take to have something to bury?)

Tollander begins to retreat along with the others. Then he realizes that Galmit isn't following them. He turns to look back for a moment, not wanting to abandon his companion from the Orb quest. But he doesn't want to share Sten's fate either.
"Galmit! Get out of there while you can! Even if you kill it, there's a dozen more behind it!".
