Character Generation

#1 Post by Distorted Humor »

Character Generation:

Characters will be generated using 4d6, drop the lowest roll for ability scores. Ability scores will be rolled in Any order. Hit points will be maximum for character type at first level with the applicable Constitution modifier. Starting gold will be rolled at random. Wizards spell books are character generated but I look over and approve. If you have a low level character from another game that is no longer active and you would like to use it please pm me in regards.

NOT playing with Weapon Mastery.

Classes Include Mystic and Druid.

I'll delete this message afterwards if the GM wishes so.

Fair enough. May I suggest granting Weapon Specializations to Fighters only then, as per OSRIC rules? One selection at 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, etc level. +1/+2, double specialization grants +3/+3 except for polearms and two-handed swords. Attack progression 3/2 for 1st-6th, 2/1 for 7th-12th 5/2 for 13th and above.

On a second note, will you be allowing human Spellswords or condeming those wishing a Fighter/Wizard to play a pointy-eared git? ;)

I Am playing this game close to the basic rules, as I think part of the charm is race=class and other oddities of the BECMI/RC system.

And I will think about the specialization for fighters, but if you want to play fighter/magic user, you do have to play a pointy ear type. However as I post about the gameworld, the pointy ear gits don't have to be Tolkien types..

Will we use skills from the RC?

Are classes from the various Gazzetteers allowed?

Skills - will go over them in the House rules

As for classes from the Gazzetteers - no, since I do not have them, but the mystic and Druid are allowed.

I know this sounds ridiculous to some here, but, is there a link somewhere to character creation for BECMI/RC?
I could probably spend an hour or two in the attic and find the blue book from way back...but Im sure there is more to it than that.
I guess the things i need to know are...
turn undead chart
starting gold dice
equipment costs and encumb.
weapon and combat charts

Labyrinth Lords is a B/E clone, if you want digital rules to follow. Might be minor differences, but the bulk of it is the same.

Just google search it for the free no-images .pdf.

Found LL thanks. Added wisdom modified saving throws and turn undead is there.
Couldnt find starting gold amounts. That will let me 'hit the ground running'.

As far as combat goes, Alenson doesnt have great stats and abilities, so ill just roll a d20 and let em fall where they may.

Anything else I need to know?
pick two secondary skills? is that correct?
1st lvl clerics only get one spell?, no bonus spells?, that correct ?oh well

edit : still cant find em

DH- Looking to recreate Felgorian and am confused? What is the difference in RC versus BECMI? I have the BEC portion of BECMI. In those, there are only the classes fighter, thief, cleric, MU, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling. (LL copies that) Where do these other classes come in? I havent read the E and C, assuming they dealt more with 3-8th level or so adventuring and weaponry/monsters, etc rather than creating new first level PCs.
Dandelion - female half-orc beautyqueen in training (The Lone City in the Wildlands) OSRIC
Halfpint - female halfling badgirl wannabe (Lab Lord- The North Marches) LL
Mark'd - charismatic human fighter (Lab Lord- The North Marches) LL

None as far as I know, except presentation. RC consolidates the information found across the 5 boxes. The newer boxes introduce new rules which are available in RC from the get-to.

In BECMI I don't know. In RC they are on the classes section. The only new true class is the Mystic which the BD&D version of the monk. Knights, Avengers, Paladins and Druids are classes that Fighters or Clerics may become when attaining name level.

DH- I refashioned Felgorian into a dwarf. (I am allergic to magic use)...
I have a question concerning inventory, etc.

Should I buy based on starting gold, then purchase upgrades? Or just start with rolled starting gold + 1100/3 and build from there?

Just go with Starting gold 1100/3 and go from there!

ok. I rolled a 70 after several failed attempts. That plus the 1100/3 easily equipped him with everything he can carry based on BEC prices.
