Re: Chapter 27 - Let's go smell the flowers
Algrim makes more notes to avoid the plants but otherwise makes no move to save the umber hulk.

Hmmm... we need to avoid that kind of plant. Dieter shifts his attention to the protrusion from the middle of the island.

Ulster gives the others a look. "We're just going to let the plant destroy the monster?" he asks. "I'm not saying we shouldn't, but the monster is a useful ally. The plant can't come with us."

Most of my remaining majick repertoire being directed at the plant would also hit the hulk... additionally the majick holding the hulk as our friend is likely to fade with the engagement. Potentially yielding a foe. It has served it's purpose, don't forget we were lunch before the majicks ensnared its mind. Perhaps the plant will be more friendly after eating?

Re: Chapter 27 - Let's go smell the flowers
"That's okay with me," shrugs Ulster. "I'm with the plant."
With the monster on its own, Ulster turns to Grimes. "Shall we?" he asks. He walks to the water's edge—making sure to stay away from the dangerous plant—and kneels down on all fours. Legs and arms become tentacles and his body grows black and bulbous. In mere moments, he has become a large octopus.
When the transformation is finished, he slides into the water.

Grimes - Fighter
Grimes watches Ulster change into the octopus and nods in approval. He glances at the others and says "We'll be back shortly. Don't feed the plants, please." And he'll dive in, following Octo-Ulster. Once we are in the water, he'll query the fish as to the exact location of Kermit's lair, and he'll ask if anything else dangerous is within these waters. Assuming the area is clear, he'll command the fish to follow him, sort of like an aquatic halfling pied piper....
OOC: Yeah, having the fish follow him serves absolutely no purpose, but it seems like something he'd do...

Re: Chapter 27 - Let's go smell the flowers
The three dive in, using their various magicks to help them. A school of strange silvery fish greet them, and lead Grimes to an area where the great froghemoth once lived.
There you find bits of skulls and bones, a laser rifle, a poison gas grenade, an atmosphere analyzer, a strangely crafted girdle--hung with odd ornaments and three leathery straps--and a metal chest.
The rest watch the umber hulk lose the battle. The plants here are tough.

Grimes - Aqua Halfling Fighter
Grimes will help gather the items take them to the surface, making multiple trips if needed. He pauses to marvel at the fish around him, thanking them for keeping us company.

Re: Chapter 27 - Let's go smell the flowers
Castinus vacillates between not being able to look, and not be able to takes his eyes off the umber hulk as the plant tears it to bits. "Better him then me," he finally says, by way of conversation to Dieter and Algrim.

Agreed... watching the hulk from the periphery of his vision. His focus is on the water, checking for any signs of struggle.

The Ulsterpus searches around the big pool for anything of interest outside the Froghemoth's lair.
Or maybe it's just an excuse to go for a nice swim.

The haul is hauled to shore. Ulsterpus finds no more dangers lurking in the lake.

Ulster returns to shore and to human form.
"That was too short a swim," he sighs.
