I'll make sure to be more detailed in my posts

Re: OOC I
honestly I'm not sure what to do for a lock pick check ... so i just kinda gave you 3 different rolls between the looking for a trap on/in the keyhole and trying to pick it open...

I'm actually looking into how to handle this since I'm not certain myself.GreyWolfVT wrote:honestly I'm not sure what to do for a lock pick check ...

Nice roll, though.

Re: OOC I
I was hoping my Sleight of Hand would be used for this but hard to say from what i just read in the PHB on DnDBeyond. But yeah it is a good roll

Re: OOC I
Okay, here is how I'm fairly certain this will work. In a nutshell, I believe it it this:GreyWolfVT wrote:honestly I'm not sure what to do for a lock pick check ...
- It's a Dexterity check against a DC (which I know what it is).
- If you have and are proficient with thieves' tools, you get to add your proficiency bonus to your roll.
- If you're a rogue and have expertise in your thieves' tools, you get to double your proficiency bonus.
Here are the rules I referenced:
Other Dexterity Checks
Other Dexterity Checks wrote:
The DM might call for a Dexterity check when you try to accomplish tasks like the following:
Control a heavily laden cart on a steep descent
Steer a chariot around a tight turn
Pick a lock
Disable a trap
Securely tie up a prisoner
Wriggle free of bonds
Play a stringed instrument
Craft a small or detailed object
Thieves' Tools
Thieves' Tools wrote:This set of tools includes a small file, a set of lock picks, a small mirror mounted on a metal handle, a set of narrow-bladed scissors, and a pair of pliers. Proficiency with these tools lets you add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks you make to disarm traps or open locks.
Locked Doors
Locked Doors wrote:Characters who don’t have the key to a locked door can pick the lock with a successful Dexterity check (doing so requires thieves’ tools and proficiency in their use). They can also force the door with a successful Strength check, smash the door to pieces by dealing enough damage to it, or use a knock spell or similar magic. Chapter 8 provides guidelines for setting the DCs and assigning statistics to doors and other objects.
Expertise
Expertise wrote:At 1st level, choose two of your skill proficiencies, or one of your skill proficiencies and your proficiency with thieves’ tools. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of the chosen proficiencies.
So, for Kelben, it would be an ability score check with a +6 modifier, broken down like this:
Dex: +2
Tools: +2 (+4 with Expertise)
----
Total: +6
Note: I'm assuming Kelben has Expertise with his thieves' tools since he only has Expertise in one skill (Stealth), when he could have had it in two if not using that second slot for the tools.

Re: OOC I
Since this is the roll you meant to use for your pick locks attempt, I will allow you to keep it (19), and will adjust the modifier (from +4 to +6) to correct the appropriate total.GreyWolfVT wrote: Sleight of Hand [1d20 +4] = 19+4 = 23
19+6 = 25
(Which, by the way, is the exact number needed to hit the difficult DC for the lock!)
Nice work, man.
I will try to update again later today.

Re: OOC I
I think so the issue i had was on DnD beyond it didn't give me thieves tools as a choice to "specialize" in. The only tool options it gave me made no sense. Where you get to select tools to specialize in thieves tool kit isn't listed it's very strange to say the least.

Re: OOC I
It might have been "assumed" that you took expertise in your thieves' tools since that is the default option; taking expertise in two skills (instead of one skill plus the tools) is an option the player can make, but is not standard.GreyWolfVT wrote:I think so the issue i had was on DnD beyond it didn't give me thieves tools as a choice to "specialize" in. They're revamping the character sheet in D&D Beyond, which will be great. And hopefully soon, but they haven't announced a targeted release date yet. It's a nice tool, and I've been using it a lot to track the characters I've been using in my in-person games, but it does have its limitations.

Re: OOC I
It does give us a lot more than if we tried some other method for even this game. So I can't knock it for through that site i can now access more 5e source materials thanks to yourself.
Also the roll i did provide would be closer to what you found for what i should roll to try and pick that lock I'm gonna laugh at myself though if the thing was unlocked all along.

No worries. Weekends are usually slow, and there isn't any posting requirement, so Monday is fine.

Re: OOC I
I was on the road for work the last two days so the lack of an update is no worry to me. Gave me more time to see if i wanted to post anything more.

The lever he used to unlock the door is what he can use to open the door as well.GreyWolfVT wrote:Kelben will try to open the door looking for some sort of pull ring to pull it inward if not seeing any he will simply try to push the door inward if that fails he attempts to see if the door slides into the wall looking for some sort of indentation or handle to try and slide the door into the wall left or right.
That said, I don't want to move too fast in case there is still interest in exploring the current room.
I will give others until this weekend or Monday before moving the game again.

The orb does have an armor class and hit point total.Shaede wrote:...Aubron moves into quick action. He pulls back an arrow and shoots the southern orb in a hope to shatter it like the rest.
Do you want to supply the rolls for this?
