Here be OOC.

Before we get started, is anyone changing any of their BIGs? I might.

I've got the notes from last session, so I can do the prologue, unless someone else needs to do it to recover a condition.
If not, I'll get to it later tonight or tomorrow night. Then Wednesday morning I'm heading out to Con of the North where I will be running a Tekumel version of Torchbearer.

Also, I had a GM question about my Goal. Did I earn a Persona point, or do I feel there is still more EvilTM here?

I am fine with Thag doing the prologue.

I recorded 2 fate, 2 persona.

I need a new Goal once I know what Session 4 is about.

I would like to change my wise. I thought it was a broad interpretation, but it has been interpreted so narrowly that it is completely useless and is hindering play. If I can just go back to "antecedent-wise" and it applies to his sorcery and alchemy?

If you want to switch to "Antecedent-wise" (aka Reagent-wise), I'll allow it, but there's no guarantee that it will be any more broadly interpreted.

Bill, it's your character. Do you feel that he's met his goal?

Likewise. Are we going into the cellar to route it evil or are we heading to town. I'd prefer this play it in character, but since we're just about to start session 4 and we need to establish new goals, we should probably decide OOC.

Rabon votes for heading to town. Taking a few people stops on the way is fine. But I'd prefer to return to the cellar after I level up. (Actually, if we spend more fate/persona, does that go toward level 3, or is it "wasted"?)

As far as I can tell, extra Rewards spent are not wasted.

Quick question, can't multiple people win embodiment as long as it isn't everyone?

I'm cool with whoever prologueing, and if like to know what the session is about before setting up a goal. And my instinct or belief may change, but not both, I'll figure it out before things get anywhere in the real thread

Yes, multiple people can get Embodiment, but not everyone.

Then let me ask this: normal ingredients/material components are included by being skilled. "Good" components give a bonus and take up inventory. Can he use his wise with his "normal" components (applying to most alchemy and arcanist checks depending on role-play), or will you restrict it to only "good" components (almost never)?

Honestly, "depending on roleplay" is a big old red flag on this. It's the equivalent of being "weapon-wise" and using it for every attack, or worse, "pan-wise" and claiming that you're using the perfect (abstract, not-really-there) pan for each Cook test. The main thrust being that the test isn't about antecedents and weapons and pans. They're incidental -- little more than color. The book says that Wises probably won't come up every session, if that's any kind of metric. And it also seem boring (IMO). That's where I'm coming from.

That said, I know that good Wises can be hard to come up with, and if boring is the worst thing about it, it still probably won't break anything. So if that's the Wise you want to use, it'll be fine.

Okay nevermind.

I switched to Gullible Mark-wise thinking this would be a different type of game, and imagining a different concept for the Allric/Rabon relationship. It isn't fitting with how things really came out.

I thought antecedent-wise would be more creative in extracting monster-bits for material components and also practical for his core-knowlege of potions and spells.

I'll skip that and just take potion-wise, which is in line with the book examples. It is boring, but at least it is useful and identifies his core competency.

Then again, we're heading to town. After that there'll be a different adventure. Maybe there'll be more use in the future...

Why not a wise related to advising us, or appearing puffed up and leaderlike?

Because, to be honest, I just don't ever want to fight about the scope of it again.

Sure, a "sage advice-wise" would be more flexible in allowing him to benefit the group with his bossiness (while shielding himself from consequences, which is even more apropos), but it doesn't meet Ludanto's standard of "this should be useful less than once a session" and doesn't meet my goal of being not subject to repeated frustrating rejection.

Boring and unquestionable is fine.

I'll be online infrequently for the next week. I'm driving to Minneapolis tomorrow and Thursday - a 22 hour drive - to attend Con of the North this weekend. I'll be running a Torchbearer game there Saturday evening. Then returning Monday & Tuesday. I'll check in late in the evenings moat days.

OK. Speaking of which, is it really "Potion-wise" or do you mean "Elixer-wise"?

Updated BIGs:

BELIEF: Getting the treasure back to town is the most important thing right now.
GOAL: I will get this treasure back to town and cash in.
INSTINCT: ....

What's a good wilderness instinct? Mending gear on call comes to mind, but something that there's scouting tests would be nice. Ideas?

Any feedback on his belief and goal? I think there'll be a few times that he has to go against that belief.
