A Favor for Captain Loris

Flynn
The Bard tosses Vincente a piece of charcoal from the floor near the forge. Try dis, mon.
While the others are still dealing with the Smith, Flynn walks out into the street and begins playing a loud and happy tune on his trumpet, hoping to draw out others in this "village".

Re: A Favor for Captain Loris
It appears the smith is overwhelmed by the number of questions being asked of him, but tries his best to answer each in turn.
"Most of those affected by the pox come from the north east side of the village. We've heard tell that the pox comes from rats; so no, the tracks and missing animals are all over the village side."shaidar wrote:Wharram
"Master Smith, do all those ill from the pox come from the same area, and is this also where the tracks have been seen?"
"Not much else to say about the pox, but you can always talk to Agnes over at Jack's Place. I'm sure she's heard enough blarny there to maybe fill in any questions you have."Rex wrote:Loch
"Who else could we talk to that will be able to help us with some more information on both the Pox and the Beast?"
The smith looks at Flynn and the offered charcoal. "You can also try Medredydd at the trading post. He may have ink and pen, more than likely to lend as there ain't much need for letters out this way."Wiglaf wrote:"Master Smith, is there a person of letters within this place who might hand ink and pen to lend or sell?"

The young monk is a little startled by Flynn's trumpet as he listens to the smith's answers. He thinks to himself he shouldn't be surprised though. He gestures to the others that he is going check outside and see what happening there.

Hradian
At the mention of Jack's Place, Hradian perks up - it could be a tavern. He heads out without comment.

Thank you Master Smith he looks at the others We could head over to the pub, make it our base for the investigation. We could split into two groups, one to look for these tracks and the other to head north east to look around

The bard pauses, looking to see if any locals have come to investigate his joyful noise. Seeing no one, he tags along to Jack's Place, improvising cheerful little runs on the trumpet as he goes, almost dancing to his own music.

Re: A Favor for Captain Loris
You make your way over to the tavern, a rather small building as most taverns go. You climb up the five steps to the door and make your way inside. The tap room is quiet and for the most part empty. One woman stands behind the bar, leaning against it and keeping an eye on the tavern itself. Another woman is standing in the doorway between the back of the bar and a back room, presumably the kitchen. Two elderly men sit at a table nursing their ales and having a simple conversation.
The woman leaning against the bar sees you enter and springs up. "Well hello m'lords! Welcome to Jack's Place. Come on in and make yourselves at home. What can I get for you to wash the dust of the road from ya?"

A pint of ale, if you will, shouts Hradian in almost a normal voice as he makes his way up to the bar.

Flynn makes a show of weighing his coin purse and shaking his head.
I haven't gots de coin fo' a drink- unless a beau'ful lady like yo'sef can spare a mug o' cheap wine fo' free.
He smiles at her, being as charming as he can.

"Of course good sirs!" she says to Hradian and Loch. She sends Flynn a smile and then says "I'm sorry sweetie but we're a small village and my clientele seems to be getting smaller and smaller. If I gave wine to every cute face without a penny I would have to close my doors." She grabs the pints off a shelf behind her and fills them for Hradian and Loch, grabbing a third glass and filling it for water for Flynn. Turning back to Loch she says, "And what news would you be after sweetie?"

Hradian
Hradian looks up from his ale... Serve him a piece of charcoal, he says referring to the bard in a "sorry to interrupt" whisper. Just kidding. If he is still thirsty after his water, I'll cover as to his wine, he adds whisperlike.

Magnus
Having some though albeit minor skill as an apothecary Magnus is intrigued to see those with the pox close up. He tells his friends we will join them at the tavern in a bit and heads for the structure the smith indicated housed the pox victims. He mentally scoffs at the superstitious beliefs about the cause of the pox and considers the two main theories he feels are the most plausible the miasma theory and the flea theory. He opens his healer's kit and applies a thick oil to his exposed skin to discourage flea bites and places a disinfectant on the a scarf and wraps it around nose and mouth as he approaches the building.

Arriving slightly behind the others, Wharram will take a seat and order an ale if asked by the barmaid.

Hadrian
Bring my cousin an ale, Hadrian shouts (normal voice level) at the bartender and pointing at Wharram. There will be hell to pay if he leaves here without having sampled one, he adds turning to the others.

Wharram nods in appreciation at his cousin and joins the others.
That walk has certainly worked up a thirst in me. Any thoughts on how we find out what's going on in this place?

Magnus sheepishly enters the tavern and joins his companions. "I overestimated the time it would take me to get there. An hour is too long to be away from such good company."
