A Favor for Captain Loris
Re: A Favor for Captain Loris
Loris smiles and accepts Vicente's offered hand. "Excellent. The village is less than a day's walk from here and should be free of harm. Our patrols keep the worst of the trouble away. I wish you all safe travels and eagerly wait to hear from you upon your return."
She draws a quick sketch map of the area and the road to Skegg End. Are there any final questions before she leaves?

"I have everything I need to begin. Thank you, Captain Loris." He bows slightly and then looks to his companions to see if they are also ready to begin. Vicente's expression is now as serious as his eyes.

Jah knows, I be ready. A good Bard always have his pack ready. Sometime, a lovely young lady have a father who t'ink a Bard need to settle down an' marry his soiled daughter, dowry or no.

It is early evening. If you were to set out now, you would have to make camp before getting close to the village.Urson wrote:Flynn

"No. To call it a village is to give it too much credit. It is a community of farmers. There is no central building, no governance. That is all done here in the city. They till their fields, tend to their animals and bring their extras to hawk in the city. They deal with one another when they see fit and if there is a grievance, they notify the patrol who handles it then and there. When they do see fit to gather together as a community, they elect one of the families to host the group and that is where they go."shaidar wrote:Wharram

Wharram nods at Loris' reply, "well, sounds simple enough." He looks around at the others "Perhaps we should leave at first light?"

Yes, first light tomorrow sounds like an excellent time to depart.

With the group in agreement, Captain Loris throws some coins on the table for everyone to have a few drinks to end the night out. The morning, you awake and prepare yourselves for the hike out to Skegg End. The weather is very agreeable the journey is quick and uneventful. You come to the "center" of town, really nothing more than a small tavern and inn, a blacksmith, and a trading post. Simply a place for farmers to get wares they can not provide among themselves, a place to have their tools made or repaired, and a place to either celebrate or drown their sorrows. While on the road in, you passed a small number of farms, many were produce farms, their fields full of vegetables and wheat. Some were livestock farms.
As you enter the "village" the sound of the blacksmith's hammer on anvil is the only sound you really hear.

Vicente
The white haired Karokman nods his head grimly as the lack of sounds surrounding them rings as loudly in his ears as the blacksmith's hammer. There should be chattering, running children, scolding wives, grumpy husbands, and number of sounds should reach them. Their very lack spoke volumes. A wary hand rests upon the handle of his heavy hammer as he looks around. Then points wordlessly to the blacksmith's shop. His steps draw him closer as he tries to look into the workshop without being seen.

The Bard has been humming up-tempo songs all along the route, occasionally picking out tunes on his guitar. He seems to favor intricate music that allows him to show off his fingering skills.

When he sees how deserted things are, he moves to unsling his trumpet- but stops when he sees the others moving quietly toward the smithy.

Re: A Favor for Captain Loris
Inside the smithy you see all manner of tools; on the walls are various size hammers and pokers, tools used by the smith himself. Around the forge and along the walls of the small building you see various farming implements. Most are intact, either repaired by the smith or brand new. There are a handful of implements that are no longer functional in their current state. Beside the forge is presumably the blacksmith himself. A large man, he stands over 6 foot in height. He has dark black hair though he is bald on top. He also has a long black beard. About his torso he has a dark brown leather apron covered in soot in many spots. His legs are covered in brown leggings. In his right hand is his hammer which he rhythmically drops on the anvil as if hammering away on something but there is nothing there. Meanwhile he stares blankly into the fire of the forge.

Magus
Magnus hangs back with Loch to watch the rear. His eyes furrow as he sees the blacksmith working on nothing. He takes a moment to recall his lessons with master Lucinda Argento on enchantments.

Wharram whispers to the others "What is this, some kind of sorcery, or is the poor fellow simply deranged?"
