Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
The power armor frame was based on a recent model, used towards the end of the third world war. Though the armor components and fusion core are missing, you do notice an added feature to the frame. A series of tubing can be found, connected to small boxes found on each limb. You not sure what immediate use the feature might have, from appearances alone, but each box does have a hole to insert something. A stimpack perhaps? The computers nearby may have more information on this.

Well, we should get going. This place has to have a fusion core somewhere. We should keep looking.
Are there any exits other than the one we came in from?

Seven shrugs "Dunno but I guess I can search again." [1d20] = 12

As far as you know, there is only one way in and out of the vault installation you are in. You are currently on the first subterranean floor of the facility. Based off of the maps you found of the place, there are more levels to explore in this facility. The main thing preventing you from progressing was the sheer amount of feral ghouls within the vicinity.
What is Seven searching for in the main lab?

Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
A lot of the tech in the room is still intact. If you were looking for parts to help make a weapon, you are able to find some. You'd need to find proper tools to help take things apart without damaging anything, however. The power frame maintenance section of the room has a few tools laying around, but they are heavy and cumbersome.
When making search rolls, please be specific in what you are looking for. This will help me determine how to interpret your results.

Seven gives up his search seeing that too much would require a lot of work and more tools that are found in the current room "Wasn't there a maintenance room somewhere?"

Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
I'm going to whip up a simple map tonight and post it, and then offer my idea for next steps.
Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
Zeke pulls out the piece of paper that he took from the skeletal security guard upstairs and sees if the code on it is the password to access the computer system in this room.
I posted my map in the Visual Aids section. Let me know if I'm missing something.

The code works! You are able to access all of the logs found on the computer.
After skimming over most of it, you realize quickly the reason behind the vault's secrecy and its work. This vault was in charge of developing a serum similar to that of the Forced Evolutionary Virus, or F.E.V. Instead of looking to purify the genetic tainting caused by radiation, his program's core focus was in creating a serum that could make the body resistant to radiation, period.
It worked and provided a quasi-immortal status to those who received the injections, but with grave side effects. Unfortunately, medical records have shown that it has accelerated the decay of the body as a result, before stabilizing its quasi-immortal form. The rapid physical deterioration of the body also affected the mind, much like its predecessor, the F.E.V. The results were more ghouls, this time man-made...
Many of the logs shown in the computer's database record the work of a small dwindling group of scientists who carried on the research and work over the years, struggling to preserve their own safety against the feral creatures they accidentally created, and those who would steal their work. The final entries are very interesting. Apparently, only one scientist remains of the research group and managed to escape the vault's emergency lockdown with a near-perfected serum. He is confident that he can finish his work topside but needs to make contact with the institute to do so.

Seven "Wonder if that'd be the ghoul we saw back when we dealt with them raiders and rescued the docs boy." the man thinks out loud watching Zeke work his computer hack magic.

Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
Zeke looks in the computer records for information on the tubing and boxes attached to the power armor frame.
Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
The database of records suggests that the power armor frame in question was used as part of the experiments here. The wiring and boxes were part of an automatic injection system, used to filter assigned drugs into the body at regular intervals, or when certain damage levels to the armor wearer are triggered. So if stimpacks were put into the power armor frame, instant injections when needed would be possible. Same could be said for radaway or other chemical concoctions, including the serum the scientists were developing. The wiring and boxes look detachable, but you would need to bring it to a workstation to make the modifications.
Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
Zeke scans the databases to see if there's any specific information on the location of power armor parts and/or fusion cores, preferably with maps.
where's my fusion core? [1d20] = 15

Seven just stands by watching Zeke and his obsession for power armor.

Re: Chapter 2 (GreyWolfVT, sulldawga)
Though not directly stated, the fusion reactor room, found on the third sublevel of the vault, may very well have a fusion core (the running electricity in the vault proving this much). The one in the current power armor frame is spent.
As to the location of other power armor parts, the computer mentions nothing. However, your character does remember a while back about the mention of BoS activity. Where there is the Brotherhood, there may very well be power armor tech and parts.

Well, what do you think? Should we keep combing through the Vault or should we lock the door behind us, go find the Doc, and then further explore this place on the way back?

Seven "Personally I'd like to comb the place take anything of worth an firebomb the damned place then lock the door behind us. Taking the only power source powering our way out would be a foolish idea, and it might well be keeping half the ghouls off our ass."

Well, I don't think pulling the fusion core will completely shut the place down. It'll do so eventually, once the backups fail. We'll have time to make it back to the surface.
And this place would be the safest hideout ever... if we can clear out the ghouls. If not, maybe we can salvage the power armor workstation and bring it back to our hideout.
But let's keep exploring and see just how many ghouls we need to deal with, and if we can sneak by them if there are too many. Who knows? If we find some grenades or a flamethrower, the cleanup could get really easy.
Are there any other exits to the room we're in? Otherwise, I suggest we go back out to area 15 (according to my map), and then turn left to area 12.
