issachar

Holds a lantern for folk to see by at the groups rear. The heaps probably have carrion creepies and rot grubs. He keeps an extra oil flask handy in case we need some fire .

Bianca

Pats poney on the neck. Whispering thanks to her for carrying the load. She listens to Olaf and Earc and nods. "I believe you're right. We are likely in more danger if we stay idle then if we keep moving."

Winnie has no interest in traversing a pile of gnoll droppings. Did anyone notice any other passages leading through this way? Or maybe there is some way through the alcove on the left? She waits with Bianca and Pony as others look into the possibility of getting through the alcove. If nothing exists, she recommended using the now-empty southron trunks to create step stones across the piles; by separating the lids from the bottoms, they could create six steps.

OOC: What did you put all of the coins in, if you emptied them from the trunks? Only the smallest Southron trunk is empty, Earc having the gems in his backpack.

I think Marullus said only the small side niche was used for poo; the trash in the hallway is just trash.

If the trash in the hallway appears to be an issue, Earc directs Funil and Drunil to push it out of the way with their shields.

A brief inspection reveals that the (now standard, 10 foot wide) tunnel stretches 40 feet and then stops, midden and trash mounded there. A 10x10 alcove on the left just short of halfway down is also mounded with waste and trash.
Sorry for the confusion. The hallway ends, then is filled with the gnoll's trash. So, you see a wall behind the trash heap.

Yes, only the alcove on the left is fecal.

Winnie looks at the ceiling, hoping for an obvious trap door.I guess we go back and look for secret passages? Or... What are the chances this isn't a back entrance to the Hold?

"Do I really got to stab meself, or are one of ye going to try arrows at the piles to make sure there be nothing in them?" asks Olaf.

Issachar

obliges the dwarf by firing a few sling-stones into each midden heap and trash pile.

Earc raises an eyebrow at Olaf, indicating he thinks that firing arrows into a trash pile will accomplish very little but waste precious arrows. "Maybe try jabbing your new sword into the pile..."

"This is dwarven construction, just like the tower. There has to be a secret passage somewhere... everyone start looking around." Earc holds his lighted driftwood high in the air so everyone has enough light to search by. He's hoping the dwarves and the elf might have the best luck, so makes sure they, of all people, are able to properly search.

At Olaf's urging, Issachar thunks a few sling stones into the piles. They embed themselves wetly and the smell increases as the moist insides of the piles are exposed, but otherwise have no apparent effect except the loss of a few rocks.

At Earc's request, Funil, Drunil, Olaf, and Bianca search the hallway, carefully evading the trash and midden as they do so, hoping to find some hidden egress. Though scoured by each of them, nothing presents itself.

"Might be trap doors under the trash," guesses Olaf. With a heavy sigh, he uses his pick to stir through the heaps, looking for anything underneath or inside the heaps.

Winnie and Earc examine the ceilings while Olaf heaves a sigh and begins stirring the trash heaps looking underneath them while Halfpint helps however she can. Even Issachar casts an appraising eye. After a thorough and smelly search, the group has turned up nothing. They still stand alone in a dank hallway, the remains of their slaughter in the rooms behind them. And a refreshing-looking but still dog-scented hot tub.

Olaf gives one more go-over in the hallway looking for secret doors, then retreats to the previous room and searches there. He continues working his way back toward the entrance that way, then works his way forward again. He asks the other dwarves to do the same.

It's 4:00. It's not like he has plans to go anywhere else before morning, so he might as well give the place a good thorough inspection.

Earc goes back to the rooms and examines them thoroughly, as well. He focuses on the hot tub.

Winnie heads back to the room with the dead gnolls and tries looking for secret triggers to secret passages. She lights a candle and holds it along the walls, looking for signs of air flow. The hot tub looks good. If nothing turns up in the gnolls room, she takes a.moment to check the water, assessing it's cleanliness.

Issachar

"yes that's nice, scented candles, soft lights."

Removes the debris from the hot tub and casts Purify Food and Water over it.

Winnie does her best to ignore the creepy cleric, but she can't help but worry about his hygiene. Since when is tallow a scent that is anything other than functional? she muses. If Isaachar doesn't back off, she might need to charm him so he will listen.
