Siggard pries at the damn shells, keeping one eye on the sparkling terrors of the deep so he and Gin don't become a fresh meal. He wishes that he had some way of communicating with these little chewing monsters so he could just tell them to suck off.

He shakes his head and keeps prying, wondering how long he will be able to breath under the surface of the water.

Hard STR Check (10) [4d6] = 12

Hard STR Check (10) [4d6] = 14 Gin: 16 STR

Can we estimate how many of them are still on the hull?

Equipped with the proper tools, Zoggrot has no trouble prying barnacles off the ship's hull.

STR Check (18/08): [4d6-3] = 14-3 = 11

Clamfest

In the bilge, sounds of thumping, dragging or grunting may be heard, echoing dully through the water.

Geoffrey succeeds in prising off both of the discovered limpets on the prow end of the sloop. Zoggrot and Fishy work their way up the line of middle placed clams, taking them off in sequence. The painted shells of Juanita and Ignatio disappear into the depths below. 'Shelley' clings on despite Rexlins best efforts, chewing furiously and exhaling a plume of saw dust. The three attached limpets in the line begin to smoke like mini volcanoes, the grains of timber slowly being gnarled and milled by the saw toothed critters. Van de Poel cracks a shell open with a crowbar, mangling snail teeth and gums into a gooey mess. The underbelly shoal of eel lampreys flee as the circling Mako's snatch the descending limpets in a frenzy. Still hungry the pod look both agitated and excited about the wriggling mass of enticing legs and arms being waved about as the divers swim beneath the boats. It is too much for some of the sharks as they scent the body odours, urine, blood and sweat from the crew.

Siggard and Pocc, each at a different end of the sloop can see that the zig-zag investigations of the sharks have changed into an aggressive testosterone charged menacing circle. The predators prowl around the barque and sloop in ever tightening circles before a sudden rush of snapping teeth and lunging tail fins grasp at the divers.

Makos [2d6] = 8 Mako attacks [1d20] = 12 [1d20] = 9 [1d20] = 9 [1d20] = 4 Mako attacks [1d20] = 9 [1d20] = 6 [1d20] = 6 [1d20] = 1 (okay, you can stop laughing now!)

One small shark grabs at a falling limpet, snapping and crushing it between its' sharp bared teeth. The limpet explodes into fragments of shell, wood chips and a large slug like bulbous mass. The other Mako sharks fight over the spoils and literally tear the youngster to pieces in their own frenzy.

next actions please everyone.

in answer to Siggards query. You found 12 limpets placed on the hull so far. Four in a square on the stern, two by the prow and six in a line along the middle. Geoff has prised away the forward pair, Zog & Co have despatched three of the middle and VdP a single one from a corner of the square.

Zoggrot continues popping limpets off the hull, tossing them toward the predators below in hopes of giving them something else to eat.

STR Check (18/08): [4d6-3] = 12-3 = 9
STR Check (18/08): [4d6-3] = 8-3 = 5

Not sure how many rolls we can do. Use as many as you need.

While Gin pries away at another monster clam.....

Hard STR Check (10) [4d6] = 11 (STR: 16)

Siggard keeps a wary eye on the sharks that are getting uncomfortably close to the pair. He stops his prying to focus on keeping the sharks off of his friend. He will use his bar to strike out at them if they come in for a bite. He shouts something under the water that sound something like bubbles bursting in your eardrum.

"Why doesn't the druid just tell these sharks to piss off?"

If that isn't enough to prevent their attacks, he attempts something that he has never done before. Casting one of his spells under water.

Using a pinch of wet sawdust as sand, he casts his sleep spell on any aggressive sharks that get in too close to the pair of swimmers.

(Not actually sure if that will work or not)

Agreed

Heaves and pulls along with Fishy on their stubborn Lampreys and finally braces his feet against the keel so he is standing upside down and has much better luck.

Iggway is in somewhat of a trance, from praying to the "Hero"...she walks over to where one of crew was carving a large scrimshaw for the captain, she carefully picks up the piece and throws it overboard in the direction of the Makos. Iggy thrashes her body fluidly like waves in the ocean as the whalebone sinks into the depths...

Shadows from the Deep:

The Mako sharks lunge so ineffectually at the divers that in frustration they turn and tear the smallest to pieces after he snatches a dropping limpet shell. The round of not-even-near misses gives the divers a chance to prise more limpets away from chewing through the hull boards and springing leaks into the bilge and berths of the sloop. Noises from within the bilge that resound through the waters indicate a rough dragging of objects across the ballast stones from the partition side to the bilge hatch and then silence.

Mako attacks [1d20] = 13 [1d20] = 10 [1d20] = 9 [1d20] = 5 Four sharks snatch at limpets, four sharks snatch at legs and arms. One takes a nibble at Rexlin and tears a chunk from his meaty buttocks. Blood pours into the waters as much as curses. Sharkfood sig, vdp, fishy, rex, zog, poc, geo [1d7] = 4 yum yum [1d8] = 1 Rexlin rump steak obviously tastes as bad as rotted bilge-rat and the shark spits it out in disdain. (-1 hp Rexlin)

Iggway casts a carved piece of whalebone into the shark infested waters. It floats for a moment upon the waves before sinking into the deep, the penknife sculptured fish-head pointing down, the bone shaft wriggles like an eel. It homes in on the silent depths.

The waters around the sloop and barque goes silent too ... and dark, as an ominous black shadows rises slowly from the murky depths. It blots out the sparking blue light, shoals of brightly coloured angel fish pale in its wake. Siggard looks at the rising beast. Perhaps he has seen it before, perhaps he looked it once in the eye before blinding it with missiles of magic. The drumming of hooves reverberate in his head, for others the sound is an ominous hard beating of the heart as adrenalin shocks folk into a feeling of dread and awe.

[url=http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... macid=9276]mako saves [1d20] = 10 [2d6] = 8[/url

The mako sharks sense 'the coming of the beast' and with a quick thrust from agitated tails exit from beneath the sloop and out of sight. Each person in the water make a save vs spells please and on a failed result give me an action as if you were frightened.

next actions please.

Rexlin

Wales as the shark nips a chuck of his butt and curses the thing, taking a swipe at it with Ingred.

Dagger (Ingred) to hit [1d20] = 11 Dmg [1d4] = 4

Then seeing something big... really big... he hollers a warning at Fishy and the others before rushing to the surface. "Something big is coming up from the depths! Throw us some lines!"

Save vs Spells (17) [1d20] = 13

Fishy Save

Save vs Spells [1d20] = 16

Siggard the water breathing Hagslayer jolts slightly when first spotting the black shape growing in the water, until he recognizes its makers mark.

Save vs. Spells (12) [1d20] = 15

When Gin begins to freak out over seeing it, the calm mage grabs the sailor by the shoulder with a big smile on his face to calm the man. He mouths the word SHAMAN to gin while signing himself. The pair continue prying and smashing until all of the limpets on the prow end of the ship have been released. Sig keeps one eye on the clerics illusion, hoping that it will do something cool before they have to leave the water.

The Beast from the Shadows: (or should that be ... the Shadow Beast?)

The spectral form of a giant sperm whale closes in on the divers, thrusting forth powerfully from the murky black waters a league below the sloop. The sharks feel the ocean waters tremble as is swims up and flee with their tails between their fins. The critter that bit Rexlin gets a revengeful chunk taken out of it and it rolls painfully before swimming into the Carib waters away from the boats. (Rexlin, you have a shark fin to add into the soup tonight!). The shadow of nautical doom looms large and opens its huge toothed jaws as if to swallow whole the tiddlers dangling from the sloops hull.

As the sharks head west the awe-struck four head east, swimming for their lives and the shelter of a clustered clump of seaweed flotsam. Rexlin, Fishy, Geoffrey and Pocc curl themselves into the straddling bunches of kelp roots to cover their bodies as much as Adam and Eve who hid in the garden and covered themselves with fig leaves because they were naked and afraid. The fear makes teeth chatter and Pocc calls forth some hidden knowledge from his aquatic studies, informing the men that they may shortly, "be eaten by a Physeteridae which contains a single genus and species, the Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). The very large head of the Sperm whale contains two barrel shaped glands of oil sitting on top of each other. The upper barrel gland contains the spermaceti oil, the substance whalers seek lustfully after. Absolute master of free diving and deep diving, the Sperm whale feeds almost exclusively on deep water squids. Teeth are only present on the lower mandible."

Fishy responds,"It should be Elijah as a prophet of doom. You're a convert Rex, do something. Make an offering quickly!"

Siggard and Van de Poel, watch the fun as the guys swim in fear. Zoggrot takes the last of the limpets off and exits smartly, shadow beast or real, he doesn't want to be proved wrong. Iggway on the deck shakes with laughter, as do the crew and Captain Lazarus.

Summoned from the depths to harass the sharks, the wraith formed image passes through the hull of the barque and sloop like a cloud, it blows an illusionary spout of water and dissipates into waves like a cloud of ink.

last actions please and I'll wrap this encounter up.

Siggard is visibly upset when no sharks swim into his sleepy aura. He had hoped to bring a few of them up to the surface for the rest of the crew to feast on later. He grabs onto the final monster clam before it sinks to the bottom and secures it under his arm for later study.

The mage watches the illusion of the huge whale with great interest, wondering how a cleric could produce such a believable apparition. He taps Gin on the shoulder again after hearing the commotion inside the bowels of the ships hull. He shrugs his shoulders and points to the hull when he hears the noises, otherwise unsure how else to communicate with the man under the cold water. He makes a mental note to himself to ask around about the strange sounds that he heard from the other side of the hulls thick planks.

Trying to surface before the magic of the potion wears off, he and Gin make their way up to the ship again. The mage climbs back aboard, immediately making his way over to his things that he left behind, making sure no candy suckers have been left in the place of his valuables.

As soon as he is aboard the Revenge again, he starts asking around about what was going on below decks during the limpet disposal.

Szmodics

Waits for Elijah to drag the prone and seemingly unconscious body of Fawkes out from the partitioned bilge. Taking a last look at the dry dessicated body of Spoonie the gnome, he shuts the partition into the rubber like seal.

He crawls to the bilge hatch with the pitch buckets and spare wooden wedges. Two less, one hammered into a limpet leak and the other into the gnome 's chest. For his troubles he will split the tin cup of gold dust three ways with Shifty and Fawkes.
