From Zhym: Tanner dips his, er, pole into the murky water. He lowers it as far as he can without striking anything.

I'm confused about this:

Tanner lifts the pole far enough to make sure he won't accidentally drop it and begins his probing.

Would turning the undead in Hell at least 'turn them away' from us? I personally wouldn't care if they left, so long as they stop attacking.
What is Tanner doing that's different from before?

Guys, looks like we risk the wrath of the skeletons and take their boats, or risk magical mishaps by using our own magic to cross the water. Unless someone has a third option, I'd vote for the boats. :)
Option 3: Swim. Risdac may need to do that. I don't know if he'll be able to use the boats due to his size.

FWIW, the boats appear to be large enough for six normal-sized humans. Risdac could probably use one if he's by himself.

question Zhym over near area 8 on the map is that dry or still water? If it is out of the water I'll levitate over to just "south" of where it has the number 8 on the map.

I'm not really sure what I meant, zhym. Let's leave it at 'he's careful not to lose his grip on the pole'.

I believe we will have to offer coins, gems or magic items into the snake sculptures in order to activate the boats.

Who besides Risdac has coins in their inventory? What about gems?

From around the time when we first encountered the skeletons and boats:
It speaks into the mouth of a stone snake carving that juts out from the wall, then leaps at a surprised Rool! Whirling claws and gnashing teeth, powered by fury and madness, find flesh. (-6 HP)
I"m thinking the tube is a speaking tube warning others of our impending arrival....

GreyWolfVT, please see the following:
PHB p.70 wrote:When a levitate spell is cast, the magic-user can place it upon his or her person, or upon some other creature, subject to a maximum weight limit of 1,000 gold pieces equivalence per level of experience, i.e., a third level magic user can levitate up to 300 pounds (3,000 g.p.) maximum. If the spell is cast upon the person of the magic-user, he or she can move vertically at a rate of 20' per round. If cast upon another creature, the magic-user can levitate it at a maximum vertical movement of 10' per round. Horizontal movement is not empowered by this spell, but the recipient could push along the face of a cliff, for example, to move laterally. The spell caster can cancel the spell as desired. If the recipient of the spell is unwilling, that creature is entitled to a saving throw to determine if the levitate spell affects it.

So you're saying in can only move up and down ? Well this blows which also means likely i was not able to move to over the water then so screw this. Cancel the levitation back on the dry spot i started then.

Yeah, it means I shouldn't have allowed floating above the water, although I could retcon that someone pushed Odilo far enough to get there.

And whadda you want from a measly 2nd level spell?

I'd like to have Rool drop a coin in one of the snake mouths and listen as it travels down, but I have none.

Shall we have someone try and pee in the pool? No sign indicates we aren't allowed to do so. :P

So then likely they move the boats up through to the ships deck? Or am I not understanding this correctly? I think I am mixing up locations in this below deck part of the ship.
