Grimes - Fighter

Grimes eyes the thing suspiciously and says "Deets? Can you command this thing? Make it work for us? This ain't like no armor I've ever seen..."

Furuk - Fighter

"That is strange. I've never seen anything like it."

Furuk approaches the suit and smacks the helmet with the palm of his hand.

Dieter - Mage

Dieter uses his staff to cast detect magic on the "thing". I don't know Grimes.... Dieter will step forward and knock three times on the face place: You there, can you understand me?

Ulster peers at the golem or armor, wondering what it's made of. "If that's armor, it seems pretty fancy, for anyone who can use it."

We have rather a dearth of human-sized straight-up fighters, don't we?

Dieter detects no magic. Knocking on the face plate does nothing: it is completely inanimate. He notices that it rests on some sort of platform: when Furuk smacks it, the platform disengages and the whole thing moves forward a bit, allowing better access to the sides and back. It appears to be able to be pulled out nearly completely, like it rests on a pirate plank which can be extended from the ship (in this case, extended from the alcove in which it stands, like a metal statue).

Dieter - Mage

Maybe it is armor... Dieter will pull on the suit to see if it will come out of the alcove, he will stay to the side in case it falls forward.

The figure slides out. You now have access to it from all sides.

Again, it looks like a suit of unusual plate armor. The joints appear to be finely, if somewhat strangely, articulated and an oily, black, leather-like material may be seen at major joints. The armor appears to have been worked to create the illusion of a heavily muscled man. The great helm is unusual in that it has no openings, only a broad glass plate in the front with a piece of glass above this. There are strange plates and tubing at various points and large metal bosses seem to be placed randomly on the suit. On the back of the left hand is a rectangular metal box. From this comes a short projecting rod tipped with a cone- shaped red crystal or jewel. It would seem there must be a man inside, for the armor always stands erect although unmoving.

Image

If someone wishes to try to figure it (or some of the other things you've found) out, let me know and give me 5 d10 die rolls, as before.

"What the hey," Castinus says, despite his inexperience with metal armor. He tries to open the suit.

[1d10] = 7
[1d10] = 6
[1d10] = 4
[1d10] = 7
[1d10] = 5

OC: I'm guessing that with bad enough rolls, the suit will tip over either on top of him, or with him in it. :)

Castinus pokes and prods. He thinks he has it for a moment but is then flummoxed. He can continue to try to understand it, or he can give up. He certainly hasn't hurt himself or broken it. (yet)

Grimes - Fighter

Seeing Castinus' efforts, Grimes tries to figure out this odd contraption...
[1d10] = 9
[1d10] = 5
[1d10] = 5
[1d10] = 4
[1d10] = 8

Grimes does his best despite his obvious stature deficiencies...

Furuk - Fighter

Furuk loses interest in the suit.

Grimes' height doesn't seem to make a difference one way or another. He can't figure out anything with this.

Furuk suggests all rest. The party is effectively resting. During your watches you can try to decipher two items (five d10 rolls each, please) or not. The room seems secure enough: the only thing with a grey card you've encountered so far should have been buried years ago.

Spell-slingers, renew your spells, please. No wounds to heal.

"Aye we could be usin' a rest," Dandy says. He settles in, grabs a bite to eat and turns in. He'll take last watch and pray to Belenus afterwards.

Dieter - Mage

Dieter hits the books and leaves the armor thing alone.

He'll make sure the doggie thing gets some rations to eat before turning.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes agrees to take any shift needed, and he settles into an uneasy rest, spending some quiet time praying to Poseidon, wondering what this is all about, and how he can make some dent in this craziness. He'll sleep as much as he can, warily eyeing the odd armor/thing.
