Irakas moves to engage the remaining cultist, but loses his footing and stumbles to the side.

Foul and Schlovell continue to move forward, and both unleash ranged weapon attacks which strike the robed chaos worshipper (combined 3 dmg). The cultist winces from both strikes and topples over – dead!

Bugg, Quangah, Toldren and Egburt advance just as a sling bullet and hammer kills their foe.

Sitrus collects the fallen Kid’s sword and makes his way to the bone white, crimson-glyphed tapestries in the upper right corner of the room.

Miss Cleo leaves the stone door and feels behind the south tapestry. The dirty, white curtain hangs in front of a polygonal stone wall matching the exposed walls of the room.

For the moment, the sounds of battle have ceased. The several oil lamps hanging on the walls illuminate the trickling and pooling blood from the 5 cult members and five comrades that lie dead on the stone floor.

The huge, curved panoramic window on the northeast wall continues to show a scene of swirling, colored smoke tickling a chaotic, broken terrain of stone, metal and organic pink clumps.

Quangah searches the cultists' corpses for valuables. He bids Bugg to touch the window, then to see if somehow it can be opened.

Miss Cleo tries to tear down the curtain covering the wall, being careful not to poke her own eye out. If she can tear it free, she throws it into the pool of water and uses her eye-hands to check over the wall carefully.

Foul retrieves her precious stone that killed the last cultist. She picks it up from the floor and licks the iron rich blood off of it. She then moves over to the thing hanging in the middle of the raised platform to see if whatever it is yet lives. "Change? You got any change for an old woman?"

Schlovell helps out with searching the cultists, hoping there is some profit in this adventuring business. He separates the dead party members bodies from the cultists and goes through their belongings as well. "They wont be needin this stuff anymore where they're going. We can split this all up if any of us makes it out of here in one piece."

Toldren, suspicious of the foul magic started in this place, takes one of the oil lamps from the wall and splashes oil on the hanging thing up on the dais. If no one has any objections, he will set it on fire...just in case. Egburt, catching his breath, eyes the door on the far side of the room.

Sitrus, brandishing his new cutlass like a pirate or maybe a beach bum, draws back the crimson-glyphed tapestries in the northeast corner of the room looking for villains and secrets.

Quangah and Schlovell search the bodies of the cultist and organize their belongings:
  • A Long Sword
    (4) wooden clubs
A leather bag containing rusty caltrops
An ornate dagger with a bone white handle and red glyphs.
A leather wallet containing six (6) copper keys
6 gold coins, inscribed with glyphs

They also separate and sort the possessions of their dead comrades:

(OOC: See their character sheets for what is available)

Bugg moves towards the window and reaches out to touch it. The metal-framed window is 50ft wide and 10ft high. Although it feels like glass, the surface of the window ripples when the elf places his hand against it. Bugg looks for a means to open the window. He finds an area on the frame with six circular depressions, each containing a small vertical slot.

Irakas joins Bugg at the window, and inquires about the puzzled look on his face. The Halfling peers through the window at the pink clumps, which look like chunks of tissue fused into the metal-laced rocks.

Miss Cleo tears off the southern curtain and tosses it into the pool. As she observes the water-soaked tapestry, it begins to smoke and dissolve into the water!

Foul approaches the presumed altar where the body of something hangs. It looks to be the sewn-up skin of a human male. She tries to speak with the dead, but the skin-bag does not reply.

Toldren takes one of the wall lamps and pours oil onto the skin. He looks at Foul, who is talking with the corpse, and continues soaking the skin with oil before lighting it on fire!

Egburt moves and examines the north door. It is oval shaped and made from the same stone and the door used to enter this chamber.

Sitrus moves aside the tapestries in the northeast corner and discovers a concealed, oval door similar to the initial entry opening.

Miss Cleo keeps her eyes away from the pool. She retrieves one of the bodies of the cultists and starts experimenting with the water, one by one tossing in different objects; club, robes, etc. before finally pushing the body itself in. "Dis wata some real bad stuff!" Finally, she tries to collect some of the water in one of the metal oil lamps.

Foul has seen worse. She takes a step back away from the manferno and reaches over Sclovell's shoulder, going straight for the 6 gold coins. "Change? I could really use some, ya know!" She picks up the ornate dagger to take a closer look at it, hoping it is very valuable.

Schlovell swats the smelly old woman's hand away as he admires the copper keys, checking to see if they are numbered in any way.
"6 coins! Six keys! That might mean something. Is there anything else in here that adds up to 6? Like a door with six locks er somethin! Or maybe a window?"

"Quite", says Quangah. "The circular depressions on the window."

Toldren steps back from his work, feeling a little safer now that the awful thing is burning. He now watches to see what the others want to do with the keys. Are we sure we want to open that window?

Egburt divides his attention between watching the portal the group came through into this room and the door ahead.

Schlovell takes the coins and the keys over to the window and visually inspects the slots to see if either item might fit.

"No! We probably don't want to open it. But it might not hurt to find out if we have the means to do so."

Irakas says, "Yes. Let's not open the window. I don't want to become one of those pink lumps out there, and I prefer my skin to stay on my body."

Miss Cleo tosses different objects and then a body into the pool. Each item begins to smoke and dissolve into the liquid. She then retrieves and carefully dips an oil lamp bowl into the water. It too begins to smoke, and holes form in the container causing the liquid to leak out. She quickly tosses the lamp into the water and it slowly melts and disappears.

Foul snatches the 6 gold coins from the collection of organized belongings. She ignores Schlovell’s reaction, recognizing the glyphs on each coin match those on the stone base of the altar. She picks up and examines the ornate dagger. The red glyphs on the bone-colored handle are also similar to the glyphs on the altar base.

Schlovell inspects the copper keys for markings, but finds none. The edges of the blade, tip and landings show signs of wear from presumed usage. He moves to the window frame area containing the circular depressions with the vertical slots. The slots are sized to receive an object matching the blade of each key.

"I have an idea", says Quangah. "My elf-servant will open the window –– first by inserting the coins in the depressions, then by inserting them in the slots –– while the rest of us have retreated beyond this chamber. You don't object, do you, Bugg?" The terrified elf shakes his head.

Sitrus is amazed to find the hidden door. "Whoah," he says. He tries to open it to see what's on the other side. "I'm just going to, uh, retreat beyond the chamber in here, man. Like, this way."

Schlovell hands the keys over to Bugg and smiles uncomfortably. "Make sure the rest of us get far enough away before you try anything, please." He moves over to the huge wall covering to the west and looks around carefully at the wall behind it.

Miss Cleo waves her hand as if she just burnt her fingers. "Dis wata bad noose! Iss meltin everyting! Mi wonder ow we can con tain some to take wit us?" She moves to the western door and looks around it with her weird hand eyes.

Foul is not smart, but she does like pretty pictures. She checks to see if the coins match or fit into the symbols on the alter base. She also checks the alter and the coins with the dagger, fiddling around with all of them with a childlike curiosity. She seems oblivious to what ever is going on around her now that she has some shiny things to play with.

Is Bugg using the keys or coins? Foul currently has the coins and Schlovell is giving the keys to Bugg.

Sitrus tries to open the formerly-concealed door, but it appears to require more strength than he can muster.

Schlovell offers the keys to Bugg, who takes them and makes his way to Foul. He then looks behind the huge tapestry on the west wall, but sees only polygonal masonry.

Miss Cleo walks over to the western door and looks it over with her palm eyes. This door is of the same stone and oval-shaped construction as the original door she watched over during the battle for this room.

Foul examines the coins for any symbols that match between the coins, altar and dagger. There are some that match between the various items, but nothing to suggest a complete word or phrase.

Bugg and Foul struggle to possess the six coins, but Foul does not voluntarily give up ‘her’ coins.

OOC: I ran an ability showdown to resolve this; the best of strength or agility against the other. Foul won. Of course, she may voluntarily give up the coins…

Foul STR = [1d20] = 15
Bugg AGL = [1d20] = 9

Toldren and Egburt move away from the impending experimentation with the window.
