Dieter - Mage
I find the fact they eat meat to be redeeming. Otherwise they would be cannibals. Sure, let's help them...

Grimes - Favorite Son of Poseidon
Grimes squints and snorts at the crude illustration. "Aw, hell. Why not? We've helped save the world a couple times over, saved captives, why not get these fellas the ol' meat machine or whatever the hell they are talking about. Can't hurt, I guess."
OOC: Grimes would like to chop these guys into parsley, but maybe this will get us some good intel or goods.

Dandy agrees. "Aye, let's find 'em their meat contraption."
Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
Ulster frowns, but says nothing further until the group has left the veggie people's territory.
Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The party is at the red X. Where to from here?
Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
How about something like this?
Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
That route looks just fine by Grimes.

that route is good by Algrim as well.

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The party follows the sage advice of the druid about the route, if not wisdom of the plan.
Mushrooms shriek as you pass them and more vegepygmies, who seem to melt from the shadows, touch the alarming fungi, quieting them. They view you with suspicion, especially the dog-creature, but leave you unmolested. The intersection very obviously takes you out of their territory and into a long hall and you head south, eventually coming close to where you encountered the metal golem creatures previously.
You see another dead golem-creature to the east where the hall turns south. It appears to be disemboweled, its colorful guts hang like ropes from its torso. The door on the south side of the hall has two signs on it, one clearly handwritten and on some sort of parchment, while the other is some sort of metal, like the sign announcing the police station you encountered previously.
The leader looks at you skeptically. He replies, We eat not mushrooms but instead hold the room with machines that make meat. The greens control one as well. There is a third, much larger, that is in neither of our territories. Give us advantage there and we can trade. More alarm mushrooms we can grow ourselves.
He draws something on the ground, using colored sap to mark places.
Image
This is a representation of whole area. Greens here on this part. Browns here and this room here (he puts a silver star where you currently are) We want food machine here (and he draws a red star where that is.) Get us food machines and we will trade.

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
Once away from the browns, Ulster speaks up. "Be careful if you really mean to get that food machine for them. It's not natural for both tribes to leave a rich food source alone. They should be claiming it as their own and fighting over control. If they aren't, it's because there's something nasty keeping them away."
He laughs and shakes his head. "Negotiating with shrubbery," he scoffs. "Probably should've just controlled them."

Dieter - Mage
Indubitably Ulster, they would have taken it long ago if they could. The leader is smart, he wins either way: we either secure the source for them or die trying. After this bit we may need to return feast on salad... where to now? Maybe that door to the south, along the long hall.

Castinus - human thief
Castinus nods appreciatively at Ulster's assessment, then agrees to Dieter's suggestion to try the door to the south.
Paul, the crude map drawing isn't showing up on my end. It just says "Image."

Algrim "I'm good with that plan." the dwarf warrior agrees.

Grimes - Fighter of Little Brain
Grimes nods at Ulster's words and says "I just want to get to the bottom of this and get out of here. This place makes me uneasy. If this helps to move us along, then I'm all for it."
Grimes waits for intelligent direction and follows.

Oops. Castinus forgot to attempt to read the signs on the door. Can he still do that? Hmmm...I guess not.

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The door requires no keycard and slides right open. The lower sign on the parchment-like material tears off, fluttering to the ground, leaving a triangle where it is still adhered to the door.
The lights flicker on as you enter, although one buzzes a bit and then flicks back off. This place holds many small, fixed tables, comfortable chairs, and atop the tables are strange boxes that look similar to this:
There are also what appear to be dressers or cabinets but made of metal rather than wood.
There are four skeletons in this room. Although "dressed" like other bodies found in this strange castle, one has vestments that catches your eye, with braid and colorful attachments.

Algrim goes over and pokes the skeleton with his spear, then walks over to the odd machines and pokes at one with his spear.
