Ben tries to smile as charmingly as possible at man, "good day, sir!" Thinking quickly, and not wanting to really tout that's he's looking for weapons to assault smugglers, "I'm passing through town as my Ship is under repair, you see. One thing that a man craves while on board is fresh meat - months of fish upon fish wears a man down - and the only meat to be had is of the flying variety you see. I was passing by your shop here and was wondering if you had anything that could help me bring down a bird from 20 or so paces away?"

You should both keep in mind that Ben has a Charisma of 6.

Sorry to interrupt........ I just find that funny for some reason.

Muglaroy eyes the man up and down ad cocks an eye before putting his glasses back on.

hmmmmm bring down a bird you say. well perhaps a simple sling, or a hunting bow.

he goes to a rack on a wall in the back and brings back a slim simple bow that looks similar to a childs archery bow.
Anything more powerful may do so much damage to the bird it would be unedible.

Now if you want something that will take down a man, I have more in the way of choice

he smiles as he takes off and cleans his glasses.

Ben's glance slides off of the bow and to the sling, "That seems relatively easy to use - and finding stones to restock on ammo seems an easy chore considering the rocky coastlines of this land. What's stronger then these that would take down a man?"he asks curiously.

yes yes, I have long and short bows as well as various crossbows you see, follow me

He shuffles to the back of the store, cleaning his glasses all the way leading you to a wall rack of about 5 bows and 4 crossbows.

These 3 bows are typical short bows you see, they fire an arrow storng enough to penetrate a man at shorter distances yoe see. They are very popular with some of the ranger folks out and about.

these two though, these are yew long bows

he says pointing at two 6 foot long bows

not the greatest for small places, but very powerful and give you great distance. Some of the more skilled town guard use this type.

As for the crossbow, well you see it doesn't require as much skill. more guard use these smaller ones as they are light and easy to load

he says pointing at 3 different snaller crossbows.

But that one, well its a hefty crank for sure to load it but has lots of power behind it.

he says as he points to a much larger wooden bow with a steel crank attached.

Ben's eyes seem to lock on to the short bows. "This is quite amazing and unexpected - the cross bows you mention are certainly outstide of my ability.. no doubt. Talk to me about this short bow here... what price are you thinking?"

Well, you never can be to sure and I'm thinking these may also help against any pirate who may take a fancy to our ship once we make way again.

16 gold you say? How about 14 gold and you include a quiver full of arrows?

oh no no no, 16 is standard price you see. However if you buy the bow I will throw in a leather quiver and a dozen sturdy arrows for only 1 gold more.
