Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Constance hitches up her skirt and joins the group for the sake of poor possessed Bromric, her shiny new poison blade in tow.
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
The five that agreed to the Deal are Seadu, Martin, Constance, Abi, Mokatah.Keehnelf wrote:Placeholder for this expedition.

The contract initiating this adventure:
Keehnelf wrote:The visitor's voice booms forth from Bromric's body: "Gathered here around this treasure, do you agree that if first I give you knowledge of the working of these items, you will aid me in my request to pass beyond the Thrice-Locked Door and return to my native plane, not seeking to hinder me in my goal or to harm me, or allow harm to befall me through inaction, unless I first harm one of you, or allow harm to come to one of you through my inaction? If five say "aye", then it is done and we can proceed."
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Today's the day!
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Seadu's pretty much ready, he just needs to finish shopping in town for some personal equipment and make a stop at the money traders to lighten his cash (that would be on the 29th).
Keehnelf, is it assumed that basic armaments like weapons and shields are freely available in town, or are you keeping track of their availability?

Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Anything normal apart from highest-end armor, and transport items, is pretty much available. Post in town thread what you're purchasing (including 20% markup), and if I see anything that would be an issue I'll let you know.
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Will make a few small purchases for Martin (mostly food) and then he's ready to go.

Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
I think Constance is just going to purchase some food, but otherwise ready to go.
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
I assume the party's aim is to travel as directly toward the Finger of Doom as possible? Let me know if this is an incorrect assumption.
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Yes. Bromric is on a pony, and we'd like to check movement speeds of others (particularly short-leggers) before departing. The Visitor has no desire to delay, and others wish to return before the siege if possible. I also don't know if anyone in the group actually has traveled to the Finger before, so we are likely not wise on hazards to prevent a straight course. So, straight course first. I'm holding my IC posts until you announce we departed and finalized the party list.
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Bromric is the slowest when not on a pony, so you are all good to go speed-wise. The only way you could go faster is if Bromric went alone and kept the pony at a good clip, and you probably wouldn't be able to ride the pony back if you did that all the way to the Finger.
May 2, 1 VC - 1:30pm
The group heads northwest under the impatient and watchful eye of the visitor in Bromric's flesh. They head northeast, directly toward the looming peak of the Finger of Doom. Near the end of the first day of travel, they spot a ring of dark standing-stones off to the left of their path, but their mission is urgent and that means no delays, so they continue one. Night passes uneventfully, and they are approaching the edge of the forest on the second day of travel when they spot a thin plume of bright red light, like liquid fire, spurt from the southeast side of the Finger, perhaps a third of the way up its sheer face. A moment later, smoke starts to burst from all sides of the mountain at high speed and a long moment later a horrific boom echoes over the countryside. The top of the mountain disappears into the rising cloud of dust, while a dark hail of rock falls with a distant pattering into the forest ahead along with bright droplets of flaming stone.
Feel free to roleplay other interactions from the trip up until that point--I just wanted to indicate that the journey is uneventful until this moment. Please deduct one day's rations apiece.

Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
"By all the gods of the light, what just happened?" exclaims Martin, shocked by the power and majesty of the destruction. "What could do something like that?"

Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
As they venture forth, Bromric speaks to plans. The main concern is reaching and entering the fortress. I know the hallways to the door, and my magic should be sufficient to bypass the Dwarven enchantments this once. Let us move with out delays."

Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
"Dragons...or devils," Constance says, visibly shaken by the distance explosion. She very slowly casts a leery look towards The Visitor parading about in Bromric's flesh, but makes no further insinuations.Martin wrote:"What could do something like that?"
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
"At the moment, I am less concerned about bypassing the Dwarven enchantments than I am about getting past the looming conflagration," says Melvin. "Do you plan to go through it, around it, or under it?"
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Posting for Marullus, who should be on a beach somewhere:
The Visitor looks out through Bromric's bloodshot eyes, scanning across the forest. "We can make it. There are few trees on the mountain itself--the smoke and rock dust will be unpleasant but not fatal. If your line of return is blocked by fire, you can use the mountain itself as a haven until the danger has passed."

Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
"Ahh yes, that sounds quite comforting...seeking haven inside a mountain....that just exploded."replied Martin. "Though at thsi point I guess we have no choice other than to keep moving forward. Where would you suggest we go to enter this dwarven fortress? Do you know a way in?""
Re: Expedition - Unpronouncable/Release a Demon - 30 April,
Bromric's head nods. "I know several ways in and out. Surely one of them will be intact, and once inside, it will be easy to navigate to our destination."
