III. Zincher’s Arena
III. Zincher’s Arena
Dagg leads Elias and Welby north, along the docks, towards the massive oval coliseum made of stone. As they approach, the roars of a huge crowd can be heard. With the games currently underway, there is very little street traffic in the area and the trio are able to walk right up to the nearest entrance.
"Spectators this way," a grumpy male voice sighs, pointing to an entrance to his left.

Dagg "I'd like to compete my good man." the dwarf replies.

"But you..." the grumpy man starts to say, then chuckles. "Sure... but, yer late. Hold on..." He turns to Elias and Welby.
"Spectate, or participate?" he asks.

Dagg "Late aint nobody told us there was a time to be here by." the dwarf says with his hands on his hips and a frustrated look on his face.

A bout of cheering erupts from within the arena. "As youse can hear, the games has already started." the grumpy man says, then mumbles something under his breath, and the only word you believe you overhear is "training."
"Now, once yer friends here make up their minds, I'll tell you folks where to go."

"Just, er, watchin'" the halfling replies.

Elias pats the dwarf on the shoulder reassuringly, "I'd just slow you down friend but don't worry I've got my gold riding on you we'll, make a good haul if not a fortune I'm sure of it." He raises his head back up to the gentlemen. "Where do we place our bets?"

Dagg "Well if I am too late then lets just go watch and bet."

The grumpy man looks to Dagg. "You fightin' or not?" he asks, seemingly frustrated with the conflicting responses from the dwarf.
"In here," he says, beginning to address the group at large, "is for spectating, not wagering. Fer that, you need to go a couple'a blocks that'a way." he says, pointing west. "The 'Gold Goblin' is what yer lookin' fer," he adds. And, in perhaps his least grumpy moment, the man leans forward and admits that you may be able to find some wagering that originates inside the arena itself, but those conducting in it need to keep a low profile else risk detection, which leads to forfeiture, or worse. "Ye may end up fightin' after all, if ye get caught."

Re: III. Zincher’s Arena (GreyWolfVT, LtTibbles, Alethan)
Elias frowns at the mention of there being no legitimate betting in the arena itself. "Ah well let's go see if we can find some good seats then, thank you for your time sir." Elias makes his way into the arena and tries to find the best seats he can possibly find for the fights.
Re: III. Zincher’s Arena (GreyWolfVT, LtTibbles, Alethan)
Welby follows Elias into the arena, looking for a seat.

The grumpy man, a hint of disappointment crossing his face at Dagg's concession, turns to point to his left. "Right that way," he starts. "Ye'll go throgh that tunnel, reaching the ground floor once you exit. From there, ye'll fine stairways up and down off to either side. Try'n find an empty seat... though, ye likely won't be sittin' much," he adds. Having received the instructions, the group follows the provided directions and emerge on the opposite side of the tunnel. Quickly surveying the seating possibilities to either side, they look equally hopeless, as these fighting events prove to be extremely popular.
"Outta da way!" a brash dwarf snaps as he bristles past, pointing out that you're blocking the walkway. Picking a side, you decide to climb, as the seats nearest the action appear to be completely full. After climbing anohter flight, you manage to locate a group of three seats together, down the center of an aisle. Fighting your way to the vacant seats, you finally arrive and settle in, just in time to turn and witness a gladiator wielding a spear and a net get pounced upon by a tiger and mauled to death... to an erruption of cheers, with the few growns coming from those that wagered against the giant cat.
The tiger remains in the pit for several more contests, easily dispatching of all challenges presented, and making Dagg realize that his decision to watch and not participate was probably a wise one.

Okay, the other group just finished their quick excursion and is looking to rejoin with you guys at the arena. Since no one is currently participating, or betting, I'm thinking we will just fast-forward through the rest of the daily games. We can definitely revisit the arena again another time, and if you really want your character to remain and/or get more involved during this current visit, I'll be happy to run them through it in your private forums.... just let me know.
