Tomb of the Builders

#1 Post by tooleychris »

The party travels west and north aways, crossing a thin stretch of river on a fallen but massive log.
The mid day sun reminds everyone again of the jungles humidity as swarms of mosquitoes harass you.
Trodding on with Throm showing the way.
Throm Listen Check(20%) [1d100] = 66
Varrick Listen Check(37%) [1d100] = 49
Thorgrim Listen Check(26%) [1d100] = 9
Ruken Listen Check(19%) [1d100] = 5
Eirenaios Listen Check(22%) [1d100] = 17

A couple hours past the log bridge, Thorgrim, Ruken, and Eirenaios notice the sounds of light feet in the thick trees ahead. An ambush is ruined and two trolls charge through the woods towards the group!

Everyone gets a free action before they reach you.

just a reminder, when posting combat actions include your characters dex in the post (or INT if casting), the skills % ,and either a dodge or parry roll. EXAMPLE:
Thorgrim (DEX 8)
The dwarf swings his Axe(79%): 01 Damage: 10
Dodge(72%): 99
Speeds things up for all of us. :)

Varrick (Dex 13)
Dagger Thrown(30%): [1d100] = 64
Dodge(31%): [1d100] = 10

I will be providing my first and second post for this troll event, so that I don't slow you guys down too much while I sleep and work.

The gnome is terrified to see these two hulking trolls blocking their path! Freezing for a moment, fear almost takes complete control. But this is not the first time he has encountered life-threatening danger! If he cannot fight, he will take flight. Ruken does just that and flees hiding himself inside some bushes nearby.

DEX 6

Hide Check 23% [1d100] = 60
Dodge Check 12% [1d100] = 87

Once he thinks he is hidden from view, Ruken will search for a nice sized rock to throw on his next turn, and throw it at one of the trolls that are being attacked by someone else!

DEX 6

Throw Check 69% [1d100] = 86
Dodge Check 12% [1d100] = 37

IF on the off chance, Ruken finds an ingredient that can be harvested in the bushes or near them. He will completely disregard any attempt to attack with rocks and will devote his focus on his discovery, having a one-track mind and all that, easily distracted ;)

The dice roller has spitted on my face. Must of offended it somehow... geez. Good luck with your rolls guys!

Eirenaios takes his sling out and runs towards the other opposite way of Varrick then shoots with his sling at the closest troll.

Dex:14
Dodge(62): [1d100] = 55
Sling(74): [1d100] = 15
Damage: [1d8] = 5

Eirenaios is not a mage, he is a slinger and he is damn good at it

Thorgrim quickly takes a bead on the lead troll and looses a bolt from his crossbow. Barely has the bolt left his crossbow when Thorgrim drops the crossbow, grabs his axe and charges into the fray, targeting the nearest troll.

Sorry. Didn't see Blaze posted.

Thorgrim takes aim an sends a bolt whizzing by a trolls head.
Quick on their feet, Varrick and Eirenaios run to flank the charging beasts as Throm sends a spinning ax between them.
Eirenaios winds his sling as he runs and lets fly, clocking the troll. The large humanoid veers toward the sorcerer and growls "Yous gonna pay fer dat, pixie she-elf!"
Varrick looses a dagger at the other troll as he runs off into the woods and sticks the blade in a tree.
Throm also sends a spinning ax that just misses as the troll turns after Eirenaios the elf slinger.
The gnome alchemist bravely ducks behind some bushes that don't quite conceal him and looks for a good stone to lob.
Thorgrim drops his bow and charges at the trolls. Which troll will Thor go after? I'll assume light troll but lemme know if you'd rather stick with Throm and the dark troll.

Please try to write your posts similar to this:
Dex:14
Dodge(62): [1d100] = 55
Sling(74): [1d100] = 15
Damage: [1d8] = 5

It makes the action go quicker. :)
Also lemme know which troll you'll be acting against now.

Varrick, now that he has looped around and is behind the trolls, unsheaths his two fighting daggers and heads in, aiming to hit the back of the Dark trolls legs and hinder it's movement...

Dex: 13
Dodge(31%): [1d100] = 47
Dagger Attack (54%) [1d100] = 17
Dagger Damage: [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5
Dagger Off-Hand Attack (25%): [1d100] = 48

Throm Dex 16 having used the only projectile he had takes up his hammer and attacks the troll in front of him. He will attempt to dodge any attacks the troll makes on him.
War Hammer 60% [1d100] = 17
War Hammer Damage [1d6+2] = 2+2 = 4 + [1d4] = 1
Dodge 72% [1d100] = 29

Eirenaios smiles devilishly, he seems to be concentrating, "YOU VILE BEAST DARE TO OPPOSE ME? YOU SHALL PAY FOR IT DEARLY, NOW KNEEL BEFORE YOUR SUPERIOR", he becomes power mad whenever magic is involved. He casts Agony at the light troll.
INT: 19
POW: 15
Sorcery(88): [1d100] = 29
Dodge(62): [1d100] = 5

Eirenaios begins an incantation, weaving arcane gestures with his hands. He hisses at the oncomming troll, a manic look on his face.
Ruken finds a nice stone to toss at a troll and discovers a stain on it. Pausing to sniff it he discovers its Bryony and looking around finds a bush of the grapes. He throws the stone to the side, distracted by his find.
Throm swings his massive hammer in a great Arc swooshing over the trolls head as it stumbles from Varricks slashing dagger at the back of its legs.
Thorgrim charges the troll that runs for the elf wizard and his ax cuts through the air as the lighter colored troll lunges, looking to rake Eirenaios with sharp claws. The troll grapples at nothing but air.
Light Troll Claw [1d100] = 60

The darker Troll launches itself at Throm, looking to rend dwarf flesh,
Dark Troll Claw [1d100] = 41
but the dwarf expertly rolls under the larger creatures grasping claws.

Even as Varrick readies for his next strike, he notices the trolls wounds bleed less than when first slashed.
Round 3 actions please! Eirenaios spell goes off first.

Throm (Dex 16) attempts to smash a troll. His game of whack a troll so far not off to a good start. "Stand still ya smelly bugger." as he swings the hammer again and attempts to dodge any more troll claw raking attempts.
War Hammer 60% [1d100] = 86
War Hammer Damage [1d6+2] = 1+2 = 3 + [1d4] = 4
Dodge 72% [1d100] = 49

"Something to throw, something to throw... where is a good enough stone to throw!" Ruken mutters under his breath as he searches for something large enough, but small enough for him to throw. He finds such a stone after a hasty search, but upon picking it up, he notices a dark stain upon its surface. As his fingers run over it, they become coated in a reddish color. Like any other curious gnome would do, he brings it up to his nose and sniffs it. He is rewarded with an extremely pungent smell! "Now I wonder... what do we have here?" Having become completely absorbed in his new discovery, Ruken forgets about the trolls and the fighting and sets the stone down, looking for the source of the stain.

Using his nose to guide the way, he finds the source of the acrid juice, a vine of Bryony! Noticing the small red globes on a vine, the gnome grows excited and rushes towards them. He smells them and confirms it is the source of the stain. "Ah, Bryony! I remember reading about these grape like fruits in a field journal once. The smell confirms it and the taste... *ack* yes, it's Bryony alright. If I can collect enough of these red globes I can make use of its emetic and purgative properties, something that could help me in my crafting of future healing tonics and or ointments...as well as other fun items, hehe."

Not sure which skill would tie in with harvesting items, so I picked the Nature one.

Eirenaios stands over the light troll and says, "See? Mere beasts can't challenge a mage, you are nothing", he takes a few steps away from the best then attacks him with the sling.

Dex: 14
Sling(74): [1d100] = 44
Dodge(62): [1d100] = 1
Damage: [1d8] = 8
This is the luckiest character I have played so far, all rolls are good.......Am I jinxing it?

Sniper, your spell goes off first in this round and I'll post that result once everyone has posted and then figure your attack.

this is sorta a recant. The elfs spell, Agony, takes place at the beginning of this round before any other actions take place. If anyone wants to change their actions they may.

The elf sorcerer unleashes a wave of eldritch fury on the light troll and it doubles over in pain. Screaming in agony, it falls to the ground and writhes.
all attacks against the light troll will be considered EASY skill rolls, effectively doubling your skill % at least for this round.

Varrick works in unison with Throm. Slicing his daggers at the trolls back while the dwarf continues to hammer.
