Let me try again because it's still unclear to me.

I currently only have 1d of gold to my name. Do I need to spend it to buy food, or can I make a Resources test that uses my Resources of 1 and the +1d from being in my hometown and not actually spend that 1d of gold I have?

Yes, you can make a Resources test for anything that requires resources (including purchasing items), using your Resources ability (0 for starting adventurers, now 1 for Agrom).

Being in your hometown provides a +1D bonus to Resources tests, as everyone knows him around here, and any additional Cash you want to spend can add to that as well. You never need to spend Cash on hand to attempt a Resources test, it just usually helps if what you want will be a stretch.

Note that if you go shopping for an item and fail your Resources test, you cannot try to procure that item again, however. Let It Ride stands in that case to keep the roll in force. You can try to procure another item if you like, but be careful because failed Resources tests can inflict Tax and lower your Resources back to nothing if you're not living within your means.

Good to know, thanks. I'll wait until it's clear how many preserved rations I have left from the previous adventure, and what their shelf life looks like, before I pull the trigger here.

Preserved rations have an infinite shelf life--sorry for not answering that part earlier :)

I've posted the prologue for the next adventure in the Tavern thread, as it seemed fitting. At the end of typing it up I realised it assumes we return to Damring for the next adventure, but now that I think about it I can't recall whether we decided to tackle Damring, the tower or the tomb next. I'm too lazy to revise it, though.

Just to let everyone know, I'm travelling on Monday the 8th, and for, say, a week or so I'll only intermittently be able to post. There will be individual days where I can't get to the computer after that, but I should figure out a reasonable schedule after that first week.

Where would you like us to keep track of our character sheets? Should I just repost in the original Character Sheet Thread and keep track of it there?

That would be wonderful--then to avoid confusion I'll just delete my posts.

Thanks!

Yes. M is sending us to placate the relatives and in-laws across the sea as part of Operation Keep the Family Happy. We're told to expect casualties.

Thanks :)

Are we all reposting our character sheets to keep track of them ourselves?

Just for the record, Harlan will be loosing 1 rank in Criminal on account of him sucking it up.

As Harlan prepares his kit for departure in the morning, he notices a slight numbness and uncomfortable stiffness in the index and middle fingers of his left hand. What used to be a fine instrument for slight of hand and lock-work has somewhat atrophied, unfortunate collateral damage from his cracked rib no doubt. Regardless, it'll take a fair amount of practice to get the damaged nerves firing clean again.
