I edited the post about the magic items to avoid further confusion.

Re: Character Creation Thread
Two things:
(a) my character Trotter is coming along nicely and is up in primordial form on the Cast thread.
(b) wow the DM is generous with magic items.

I don't think its all that generous really. If you think about it, you've all survived long enough to gain 130,000 experience points, you had to have found some pretty decent items along the way if you've adventured for that long.

Re: Character Creation Thread
"Furs of warmth" is in the Encyclopedia of Magicka. They are LG white fur said to animals from Paraelemental plane of ice. Weare stoll feels the cold, but does not suffer any from exposure. Anyone wrapped in the furs is immune to the natural effects of the cold including the environment of the inner planes. They take half damage from cold based attacks. And not be completely cover by the furs. Furs must be draped over shoulders like a cape.

Re: Character Creation Thread
Thats why I went with a ring of warmth.

That is still a bit unclear to me.Dram wrote:"Furs of warmth" is in the Encyclopedia of Magicka. They are LG white fur said to animals from Paraelemental plane of ice. I tried to find it out on the web but couldn't.
Can you copy the actual item description and post it?
Or pick something from the DMG or UA?
Re: Character Creation Thread
I tried its copy protected. I will take ring of warmth if that is easier? I just wanted to be different.

Re: Character Creation Thread
No problem.
How about Furs of Warmth that give the same affect as the Ring of Warmth?
I'm cool with different, I just need to know what it is.

Re: Character Creation Thread
The source I found this in is from 2E, don't know if there is a 1e equivalent although I would think it should translate pretty easily.Fur of Warmth:
(Source: Tome of Magic): These large, white furs (5' by 8') are reportedly taken from the skins of creatures native to the para-elemental plane of Ice. A person wearing the fur still feels cold in a cold environment (such as the para-elemental plane of ice), but does not suffer damage from exposure. Anyone wrapped in the fur is immune to the natural effects of cold, including the environments of the inner planes. Anyone wearing the fur takes half-damage from cold-based attacks. The wearer need not be covered completely by the fur to receive the enchanted protection; the fur must simply be draped over him like a cape. If the fur is cut into more than one piece, it loses its magical property. If the fur is worn in pleasant or hot weather, it affects the wearer as any other large fur would.

Re: Character Creation Thread
could just take this and apply it to a cloak you know
Ring of Warmth
A warmth ring provides its wearer with body heat even in
conditions of extreme cold where the wearer has no clothing whatsoever.
It also provides restoration of cold-sustained damage at the rate of 1 hit
point of damage per turn. It increases saving throws versus cold-based
attacks by +2 and reduces damage sustained by -1 per die.

Re: Character Creation Thread
That's fine.
Thanks.
I'm getting the last couple of players sheets squared away now so we should be off in a few days hopefully.

Hey, I'm just glad I'm not the last one. I just finished my character a few minutes ago.
