Liquid Gold (ALL PCs)

#1 Post by tooleychris »

okay guys I'm going to rail road you for a little just to get you in game. I know Ruke doesnt have his toon ready yet but it should be okay for a bit....

You're group set out from Elizabeth Bay, on assignment from Counselor Angela, to scout a forest west of Midway. Cutting through thick jungles brought you to the roots of two mountain ranges with a valley in between. Exploring this area you spotted fresh tracks that seemed to be pulling a wheeled wagon along a cleared path. Following these brought you to an ancient looking, neglected shrine, covered in folliage.

You and the two human archers with you were waylaid by animated skeletons and the two archers were quick to flee, leaving you to fend for yourselves. The shrine started pouring out clacking animated bones, armed with various weapons, and you thought it best to flee, so flee you did.
Hoping to reunite with your two human comrads, you head back toward Midway and come across a farm. It has large fields of corn, three buidlings, and dozens of boxes that the alchemist recognize as bee hives.

Stumbling wearily up to the well a rough looking man carrying a spear approaches.

"Dwarves... you drunk? Ain't no such as dead can walk. "
He squints, looking Throm in the eyes.
"You come from da mounts yonder? Ain't more dwarves headin dis way, is der? Don't much like unexpected guests. "

Throm fishes around in his pocket a bit more and produces 2 more silver pieces "Good enough, here keep all 3 of em." the dwarf says when he hands the 3 sp to the man.

Throm "Eh well guess that'll teach em ta owe you money." he replies and ignores the mocking of the walking dead. Mumbling to himself "You'll see soon enough walking dead r real. Best be ready when they come." and the dwarf goes off to the guest house and settles in to relax and cook a chicken.

Insight [1d100] = 75
forgot to put check in the macro name. I believe the roll is a epic fail though.

You have no reason to doubt his sincerity, despite his sarcastic comments. You and the alchemist head to the guest house. It isn't of great construction really, by dwarven standards, but is well furnished with 6 beds of furs and chicken feather stuffed pillows. There's a weapons rack and a couple wardrobes for storing clothes. A well made wooden table with 6 chairs is already set with ceramic plates, hollowed horn drinking cups ,and metal flatware. A small fireplace with a rack of cut wood is in the corner. There is even a large tub for bathing. Only 2 small windows with no glass, and the main door are exits. You figure There's a feminine touch here the farmer you met couldn't possibly muster.

OKAY! Finally squared away my character ;) Sorry it took so long on my end, crazy real life schedule and all that.

Ruken Honeybeard, the fun-loving little gnome that buddied up with Throm, is found with his nose poking around the ground, all hunched over like. The dwarf has not been with Ruken for long, but he's already gotten used to seeing the little guy inspecting all sort of things. That blade of grass over there that looks bluer than the others, the shavings of a rock pile near some strangely covered moss, the occasional insect scurrying on the ground, rarely does Throm see the gnome stay in one spot for too long.

Every now and then, Ruken will lift his head up with a smile and saying something along the lines of 'fascinating', or 'I wonder...', always with a wide grin on his honey caked face, his beard always sticky with something. Upon reaching the shrine area, Ruken knew enough in has past adventures to stay away from such an ominous place. When the bones started to move and he saw the archer guards flee, he was way ahead of them all, scurrying away as fast as his lil' legs can carry him, holding onto his hat so that it doesn't fly off. He shouts to Throm as he does so, "I told ye' that shrine was trou- Ohhh, what's this!" Ruken stops along the way and picks up a pebble, admiring the grooves found on it. Seeing Throm and the archers catching up to him, he quickly remembers why he was running. "Oh, right!"

It is at the farmland that Ruken's nose starts to lead the way. Even before he or Throm could spot the hives, Ruken the gnome just knew that there was honey around! Talking to the farmer with the spear, he shakes his head when needed and meets the man's eyes with a welcoming nod and tilt of his hat before resuming his struggle to peer over the man's shoulder. Ruken starts to shake in excitement and jumps up and down like a child as the coins are exchanged. "Say, you seem like a nice guy! You think I could take a look at your beehives over yonder? I'm a big fan of honey and bees, and I would just love to get a closer look..." Ruken's right eye twitches for but millisecond as he smiles and looks up at the man, hoping the three silver from earlier would allow this.

Persuade Check 23 [1d100] = 33 Do let me know if I did that roll right. Been awhile since I rolled BRP style. And if the result was supposed to be under... well, time to put Ruken's sneaking skills on!

Throm wonders where his little gnome friend has wandered off to. Heading back out to see where the gnome might be and remembering the gnomes fondness for honey.... facepalm. Searching for the gnome and finding him trying to persaude the farmer to allow him to the beehives the dwarf rushes over and takes the gnome aside. Whispering to Ruke "Yah durned fool. Go for the honey at night when they sleep and try not ta rub the stuff all over yer face again this time." then he smiles back at the farmer "Never mind him he has an odd thing for honey and bees. Once I swear he had a bee beard. Gnomes they're an odd bunch but he's a good friend ta me." and Throm grabs Ruke by the arm and leads him off to the guest house.

Throm eh guess this is before he tries to escort the gnome off "Dwarf nah he's a bit smaller n me. Plus dwarves like ta keep facial hair see gnomes are a bit shorter and their noses generally a bit larger, they don't often have wild beards like mine either. Easy nough ta mix us up though we are cousin races. As fer them bees i bet my friend here knows a thing er two that might help yah get to the sweet honey and avoid gettin stung. What'd it be worth to yah if he shows yah how?"

Ruken straightens himself up as Throm speaks of beekeeping and teaching. If Ruken Honeybeard knows anything, its beekeeping. With a smile and reassuring wink, Ruken says to the farmer. "If ye be wantin' the bee's sweet goods, I can show you how to get it. Lots of coin to be made if you know how, and I know how."

Persuade Check 23 [1d100] = 86

I guess Ruken still hasn't gotten the hang of persuading humans yet. Still, I think I have a lot going for him right now.
