The dark knight raises a hand towards you, palm up, then points to the center of the circle.

Upon hearing caltus's response Varrick almost visibly deflates. "Dat ain't wot A' wuz lookin ta 'ear yeh?" He decides to make a gamble for it anyway, he speaks up towards the creature in plate, "Speak common! State yer purpos an name!"

Persuade (41) [1d100] = 19
Varrick Command Skill (05): [1d100] = 55

Not sure what was appropriate for this type of thing, hopefully I can persuade the creature to speak our tongue because apparently my commanding presence is not so... commanding... :?

***Rafo, Inside Spider Den...Evil Knight***

Standing off to the side and to the rear of the party, Rafo watches to see if Varrick can talk his way out of this one. "Come on you damn fool! Not take a genius to figure out that thing has evil intentions!" Kicking a rock with disgust, Rafo wonders how anyone being such a pacifist as Varrick can possible survive in the 'real' world.

A reminder of what has led up to now

The group, and several others, have been hired to help clear away a patch of jungle for Lord Byron. A merchant master from Lashingport.
You and the others were promised by contract 100 silver crowns per month of productive work, as well as two free nights room and board in either Midway or Elizabeth Bay. 12 months of service may grant you a small plot of land.
Your contact in Midway is Orilus Penstack.
Your contact in Elizabeth Bay is Captain Brelaina and Advisor Angela.
The location of the island is to be kept secret.
Your first mission is a Bug Hunt. A previosly employed scout named Varrick brought the location to Angela's attention and she sent your group there to clear it out. While scouting you discovered a cave with an ancient, abandoned shrine to a snake God. Within you were waylaid by a hag and her sons. Defeating them you discovered a young girl was being held prisoner by the monsters. Evelyn, or Evie, was obviously born with some form of Birth defect but wwith her handicap came a special ability. She can see images from items she touches and somehow generate cold with but a thought. One of the images she has shared is that of a man who found a tomb surrounded by treasure, and a large gem. She wants this gem to purchase back her father's farm from a scoundrel who stole it from her .
Agreeing to help, the party enters the cave again and defeat a giant spider! Past the web covered cavern you find a Magic circle on the floor before a treasure laden sarcophagus. A charmed giant rat is sent in and the circle come to life!
The sarcophagus opens revealing an animated suit of black platemail. It hisses a strange language but doesn't attack.
And here we are....

and...here we go. We've lost TomCat, MrHemlocks, and Rukes character so I'll NPC them for a bit. Ruke is in process of making a new character who will join us soon enough but not here.

"Ashka saluun trasik veriloon!" comes the hissing words from under the black helm, more urgent or angered than before.
Evie is becoming anxious and a cool breeze seems to emanate from her, lifting her hair slightly and billowing her dress. She is eye balling that gem within the Magic circle.

Rafo grips his spear tightly and whispers more to himself "aye, 'eer we go."

The elven sorcerer takes a few hesitant steps back toward the web covered spider chamber behind and his pet rat is becoming very agitated, circling his legs under his cloak."Evelyn... wait." he hisses under his breath.

Varrick sighs, slumping his shoulders, "'ight, fine. A' be da firs ta be walkin in 'dere yeh? Seem onl' a' go't da brav'ry eh? hehe." With that Varrick takes both his daggers out, holding them tight and calmly walks into the circle of magic, hoping to the gods above that this doesn't kill him outright and the others will have his back...

It's been forever since I've spoken like Varrick, it feels really rusty...

Thorgrim unconsciously fingers his battleaxe and watches the black knight through narrowed eyes. He readies himself to either attack the knight or defend Varrick depending on what happens within the circle.

The dark Knight raises its wicked looking blade and Evie loses patients, or control, and a blast of icy air ripples through the air. The knights own cloak is blasted by the wave. As the party watches in the glow of the circle, thin ice starts to spread over the black armor, like tiny spider webs of crystal. His entire suit is quickly covered in the frost, adding an almost evil sheen to the plated metal.
The blast subsides and the wraith-like creature holds, immobilized for but a second, then points his sword at Rafo, who levels his spear for a throw, but instead, the dwarf falls to his knees in pain.
Flakes of tiny ice shards fall from the black Knight with every move.

Varrick ducks low with all of the magic being fired off, curses loudly and then begins to run past the knight, turning once behind him as his movement is slowed by the ice to deliver some stabs to the knights back area, aiming for any joints to the wicked revenant.

The elven mage, Caltus, finishes an incantation and takes a step to the right trying to clear a path between himself and the knight, without Thorgrim or Varrick in the line of fire. Sparks sizzle around his clenched fists and he trips over the rat between his legs sending a large forking tongue of lightning into Malfiacs head and chest. The scrapper screams in agony as his body convulses with the eldritch charge and collapses to the floor in smoking ruin.
The knight laughs in an almost mechanical fashion at the spectacle and points his sword to the fallen mage who is wracked with pain.
The black armor turns to face Varrick as the dual wielding rogue looks to skewer the armored wraith. His fast blades distracting the knight just long enough for Thorgrims mighty battle axe to slice a spot between breast and shoulder guard, severing the foes sword arm and sending it spinning off into the puddle of water behind.
Evie rushes to Malfiac and kneels by his charred corpse, crying out in sympathy.
The Knight hisses and stumbles to his knees, drawing a long, thin blade from his metal boot with his remaining limb.

Thorgrim roars in a combination of dismay at seeing Malfiac go down and elation at scoring a hit on the knight. "That'll teach ye. Nothin' beats a sturdy dwarven axe." he bellows as he turns and presses with another attack.

Varrick deftly lunges at the knight again sinking one of his daggers Deep into his foes other shoulder.
Please include either a parry or dodge roll in all attack actions

The horror brings his dagger to bare on the growling dwarf and slices across his midsection
Knights Dagger (50%) [1d100] = 32 damage: [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5 deflecting harmlessly off the dwarfs breastplate but sending tiny sparks flying.
Thorgrims Armor :[1d8] = 5

The black armor raises it's dagger to block the dwarfs mighty swing but Thorgrims axe slides up the thin blade and into the knights side, rending platemail.
Knights Parry (50%) [1d100] = 74

Evie, seeing the knight distracted, leaves Malfiacs scorched corpse and rolls into the magic circle, snatching the large gem in the center and rolling away.
"It's mine!" she shouts.
Crimson beams shoot from her clenched hands as they're enveloped in an eerie red glow. The knight jerks upright and becomes rigid as a statue.
The black armor starts to disintegrate. As if turning into a swarm of tiny black flies. The swarm arches high above and streams back into the sarcophagus, whose lid slides shut with the gravely sound of stone grinding stone. The circle ceases its purplish glow and all is quiet.

Varrick sheathes his daggers, breathing a sigh of relief. He lightly ruffles Evie's hair, giving her a grin, "Yeh don' good 'lil one. 'Haps yeh g'ot mor' in stor' fer yeh fut'a den jus' livin' on sum ferm yeh?" He looks down at the crumpled body of Malfiac, looking somber, "Boy Din' des'rve ta die dis wey..." He then kneels down by Rafo, checking the dwarf for a pulse or breath.
