Varrick subtly looks over to where the noise came from, moving as slightly as he can to not give away his intentions. Seeing the creature in hiding he quickly sprint towards the creature, lunging through the vegetation, intent capturing the creature before it has time to get away.

As Varrick storms through the brush he sees:

It also sees him and turns to flee, moving swiftly through the woods, but not out of sight!

Varrick continues to give chase shouting, "A' found one! Follow meh!" As he chases after the creature he decides to throw one of his daggers towards the creature, intent on stopping it from running or at least slowing it down.

Throw(25%): [1d100] = 25

Oh my, just barely made that roll

Malfiac Dex 10

Grapple 56% [1d100] = 69 Gah!!

Malfiac will make a quick dash towards the creature that Varrick spotted, hoping to outrun and grapple it to the ground! Things did not go quite as planned...

when you make an attack, please include damage rolls.

It's hard to say in the dark, especially with the thick, high grass but Varrick looks to have hit the thing.
You quickly lose sight of the fire as you give chase. It doesn't appear to very faster than you but is making its way through the vegetation much better.
You follow it as it leaps down to the stream and disappeares into a small cave mouth.
Apparently it has much better night vision as it vanishes into the darkness.

Malfiac picks himself up and runs up to Varrick, catching his breath in the process. "We will need to tell the others about this. That leafy creature and the one we just saw might be connected or something."

For Thorgrim and Rafo:
As Varr and Mal FINALLY spring into action (and run AWAY from your melee :) ) the swamp beast appears to become stunned and wobbles before gravity pulls it off of its feet and flat on its back.

Malfiac DEX 10

Navigate 15% [1d100] = 19

Malfiac hurries back to the camp but has a hard time finding the correct path through the vegetation and darkness. After stumbling around a couple of times, he decides to light a torch on his way back.

When and if he arrives back at camp, he will tell the others this: "Varrick and I just got done chasing some creature into a cave; we think it might be connected to the beast that walked into camp!" Malfiac then grabs his bag of holding and motions for them to follow him back to the cave entrance, all assuming the dwarves have dealt with the salad creature.

If Malfiac is still unable to find his way back to camp, even with a lit torch, he will spend the time trying to spot his or Varrick's tracks, even the creature's if his eyes are good enough.

Spot 5% [1d100] = 19

 apparently my Malfiac is no ranger! He cannot spot things, he cannot track footprints, he cannot navigate through vegetation without getting lost.....the list will just keep growing I'm afraid. :P

The cave isn't too far from the camp and since it and your camp are along the same stream...you find your way okay. Even Malfiac. :)

***Rafo, Salad Chopping***

Yelling an ancient dwarven war call, Rafo strikes out at the beast. Aiming for the hard object in it's middle. "Thorgrim, there is something hard within the middle of the beast. Maybe that is where it's brains rest."

After feeling his javelin go deep into the body of the beast, Rafo reaches into it's cavity and pulls on the solid object, buried within, trying to release it.

Rafo(9)
to hit with Javelin(77%)= [1d100] = 30
damage [1d6+1] = [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7

Thorgrim sees Rafo dig his arm into the swamp things head about shoulder deep. He pulls out a pile of green sludge.

***Rafo, Salad Tossing***

"Ha, ha, destroyed his heart I did. That will the last we see of this thing around our camp site." Bowing down to Thorgrim, "thank you brother dwarf. We truly are a force to be reckoned with." Seeing the others, in the flickering light of the fire, Rafo spits onto to embers causing sparks to issue forth from the burnt logs. "What the hell is wrong with the rest of you! Next time something comes crashing into camp you deal with it!" Kicking some embers in the direction of Malfiac and Varrick, Rafo steps back and stabs the toss salad one more time. "Stupid humans... thinking they are on a school picnic here."

You guys are considered to be cowards and any good dwarf would not deal with the likes of you again.

 fair enough. I don't mind being called a coward.
Malfiac, being the sort of person that would ask questions first and fight later if he needs to, shrugs off the dwarf's statment and delivers his message. He will then proceed to grab his bag of stuff and return to the cave. When he reaches the cave, with Varrick hopefully still waiting there, Malfiac will let him know that the creature was slain, he thinks...

After making certain that the creature has expired, Thorgrim will collect his backpack and equipment and follow the others back to the cave.

***Rafo, After Salad Tossing***

"Well that went swell."Rafo, mumbles to himself as the others leave the camp area. "Now let's see what we got here."He takes some of the blood and tissue samples from the fallen beast and places them into a jar which he than secures away into his back pack.

Gathering his items he makes hast as he catches up with the others as they approach the cave entrance.

Caltus the mage

Caltus will follow the others to the cave entrance after briefly studying the prone, seemingly dead, salad monster.
DM: "Black Dougal gasps 'Poison!' and falls to the floor. He looks dead."
Fredrik: "I'm grabbing his pack to carry treasure in."

The salad monster does indeed appear defeated. There is nothing special appearing about it now. Just a gnarled mass of vegetation. Some of the adventurers take time to pack up their goods. Rafo goes to the water to wash off the sap and green goo. Eventually they meet Varrick back at the cave. The moon gives off little light through the trees, but Malfiacs torch helps a good deal. Nothing can be seen or heard in the dark cave.
Some ancient pillars once decorated the entrance but decay has left them to ruin.
