"The captain will have sealed off the gates out of town. Hopefully none of the guards saw the beast leave." says master Ryan. "I suppose I should concentrate on mustering the forced."

"T'would be better to try and take the fight to it. If we just seal up the city and work on our defenses that will give it time to organize an offensive but if we pursue it we may be able to catch it before it returns to the main army or at worst it will have little or no time to prepare." As he outlines his thoughts he gets more and more agitated and begins pacing about the room swinging his axe wildly.

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
Master Ryan nods his head considering everyones words. "We built the walls of this town mostly to keep the wild life out, and while they are strong, I don't know if they would withstand siege..." he continues thinking silently as the dwarf swings his weapon around.
"There is safety in hunkering down but the demon has been here. He'll know where and how to strike." he seems to come to a conclusion.
"Very well. I shall marshal what forces I may and we will march out. Attempt to obtain some surprise. Perhaps one or more of you could scout ahead since you've seen their hideout?"

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
The old master fetches a iron plaque from his drawer.
"This chit will afford you credit in my name with any merchant in town." he says handing it to Craxzus. A loud gong resounds throughout the town. "There is the adventurers guild directly across the moat bridge. They should have anything you need."
Everyone is escorted from Angelas room to the exit of the keep. Many mercenary soldiers have alread mustered there, the captain barking orders. He turns to master Ryan and speaks "We are mustering the men and I have called for the city militia. I fear the demon dog has breached our walls before the bells tolled. 3 men are dead, 1 wounded in its escape."

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
The characters make their way to the adventurers guild that Master Ryan pointed out. The town is coming alive with the tolling of the bells and the streets begin to fill with panicked looking people wondering what is amiss.
A tall dark skinned man meets you at the door and frowns as you approach.
"You are not members of the guild." he says to you. "We are closed to the public until..." he trails off spotting the plaque Master Ryan provided. "So it's bad, is it? You wouldn't have that chit unless something terrible is eminent...please come in. We are well stocked. What do you require?"
A swordsman in scale armor joins him as he escorts you inside.

Thorgrim takes a quick look around, "Do you happen to stock any potions? Flying, Haste, Healing, something like that?"

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
The dark skinned merchant smiles like a child being tempted with candy. "Such special presents require a high price. Excellent decision. "
He guides you to another room that he unlocks with 4 keys. He opens the thick door and removes a trip wire from behind it revealing racks of weapons and armor. A large wine rack holds many potions. A table has other strange items laid on a velvet cloth.
"The guild has an enchanter, an artificer, and an alchemist who provide...unique items to our members, but we also have hunters who find fallen mercenaries such as yourself in the wild. They collect their more...interesting trinkets and sell them to the guild."
He pulls a throwing ax from a rack and tests its balance. The blade is bright and keen with runes engraved on it.
"This " he says handing it to Throm, "allows its wielder to charge it with power and causes the fury of the storm when it strikes its target, shocking the beast into submission."
He looks to Thorgrim, smiles, turns and pulls a wicked looking battle ax from a rack and hand it to him. "Here we believe weapons designed for evil intent can be put to good in the right hands. This ax we call wither blade. Its purpose is to use its targets spirit to heal the wielder. We believe its vampiric in origin but in your hands it may bring light into the shadows."
He looks to Craxzus and speaks "We have many daggers in our collection but for you..." he says pulling a wooden case from beneath the table and opening it "I believe these may work best as a pair. " he pulls a shortbladed sword and a dagger made from black ore from the case. "These blades only work as a duet. A pair. Not only do they increase your skill using them in tandem but Striking an enemy with the short sword allows you to empower the dagger with your foes own power to increase the lethality of the dagger strike."
He turns to the armor racks."We have many suits of armor that would fit a man, but only a few for those of lesser hight. All strong in make and enhanced to protect the wearer. But they are not as individually unique as the weapons I've chosen for you. What would you prefer? Or perhaps a shield?"

The merchant nods "I see you wear mail, master dwarf. I do have a suit of sturdy chains that would be lighter than your current set. Hinder movement less. I've also a suit of ring and plate that would provide better protection but be a bit more cumbersome. The only other armor we have for someone of your stature would be full plate, though it is enchanted to withstand sorcery it is a good deal heavier."
