OOC Discussion II: The Return
Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Interesting question about the shield. Let me look into that.
BTW, while reading up on the gnome, I realized that Castran is capped at fighter level 5 because of his 17 strength. Sorry about that. It won't affect his THAC0 or saving throws, fortunately, but will keep him from getting the 6th level fighter HP.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
I'm going to say it's not possible for an illusionist to cast spells while carrying a shield.
That's a compromise after I noticed this while reading through the gnome description:
By my reading of that, I should have restricted Castran to leather armor (OSRIC also says leather-only for multiclassed gnomes). +2 leather would have the same gp value as +1 banded mail. But instead of retconning to make Castran give up the banded mail and drop to AC 2 even with shield, I'll just say he can't use the shield.
Of course, if you prefer, we can say he can't cast spells in metal armor but can use a shield. That would leave him at AC 2 with +2 leather but give him another point of saving throw bonus in situations where bonuses for magical armor help. Though I honestly prefer this option (it seems to fit the F/I class better), I'm guessing you'd rather have the metal armor and no shield.

It is also possible for a gnome character to be two classes at the some time (a fighter/illusionist, a fighter/thief, or an illusionist/thief, for example). In the latter case, the character is restricted to the wearing of leather armor, regardless of which class combination he or she has chosen, unless only fighting is performed by the character.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
I don't mind either way. Whatever you prefer is cool with me. I can always utilise the phantom armour spell too so it makes no odds to me

Greys Campaign.
Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Y'know, being limited to leather armor suddenly makes Phantom Armor seem much more useful. Let's replace the banded mail with leather +2, and Castran can use a wooden shield if he can buy one. It'll probably be a converted buckler, but without any discount for its smaller size.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Wearing leather armor will improve Castran's movement rate, too.
Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Ok no problem.
Castran will memorise phantom armour and cast it before leaving the inn.
I will update his character sheet straight away.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
I was under the impression that clerics do not pray for certain spells from there god. They are allowed a certain number of spells per lvl and then state at the time of casting what spell they are going to cast.
I may be wrong as this is the first time I ever played a cleric.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Nope. Clerics pray for their spells at the start of the day. Mechanically, it's the same as MUs memorizing spells, right down to how long it takes to do (15 min per spell level).

Happy GM day, Zhym

FYI - I'm going to be away on vacation starting tomorrow, so I won't have any updates until probably Friday.

Computer +1 got really busy and had to drop out. I'm going to stick with 70,001 XP for your characters. I'd strongly recommend you add a hireling or henchman or three, however. They'd be somewhere between 2nd-4th level, most likely.

Gragog will look for a place that he might gain a henchman then if there is a place in the currently location that is not Borovia.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
I decided that there wasn't really any reason to have the new players in a private forum, so I moved that thread to the main board. Of course, everyone should continue to play their characters as if they have no idea what's going on in the other thread.

I'm with Stirling. I totally thought this when I read about Lar and Priestess Bogdana....

It's good to have a 17 charisma.
