Round 14

Helhornic Blost changes the sound of his horn to three short bursts, followed by a pause, and then repeats. The Ant Lord’s forces appear to begin a withdrawl towards the west. Night Mane unchains the siege mortar team of captive humans and they careen forward towards the walls of Caston, as if driven by an unseen force. A third member of the bombard mortar crew begins loading multiple rounds into the mortar. His actions appear to be in haste.

Kopps Monn, Arath Chen, Issimo Khon and the seven remaining in the attack force shift to the west, moving in a zigzag pattern. Jet and the Chicken Jousters begin to curve towards the west also.

Luke darts through Caston and scrambles up a stairs to position himself on the defensive wall. He sights the cluster of Chicken Jousters and fires his rifle. The impact of the bullet does a mere 4 points of damage, but the wounded jouster falls off of his mount!

Luke, Rifle, [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21, [1d12] = 4 dmg.

Kapok pauses and blasts Jet with his Mind Thrust inflicting 13 points of damage!

Mental Test = [1d20] = 19
Kapok, Mind Thrust = [1d20] = 14, [3d6] = 13 dmg.

Nor-jax chucks his last spear at Jet, negating the -1 distance penalty due to Kapok's successful attack. The mutant gorilla cannot connect with his target and the spear sails wide, striking the ground beyond the SoB!

Nor-jax, Spear = [1d20] = 3, [1d8] = 3 dmg.

Frank holds and waits for the Chicken Jousters to come in range of his grenade toss. Their trajectory carries them past and out of range, so Frank lunges forward closing the distance and throwing the scrambler grenade. Frank aims at the lead jouster, but the grenade misses and bounces 13 feet to the right of the target. When it explodes, it catches the rear two jousters in the 10ft. blast radius! All but one of the Chicken Beasts fails the save and they collapse and/or fall into the ground!

Frank, Scrambler Grenade= [1d20] = 11
Grenade Scatter = [1d10] = 3
Grenade Scatter Distance = [2d10] = 13
Chicken Beast, Save vs. Stun = [1d20] = 18
Chicken Beast, Save vs. Stun = [1d20] = 2
Chicken Jouster, Save vs. Stun = [1d20] = 7
Chicken Jouster, Save vs. Stun = [1d20] = 11

Bart clicks and clicks to determine exact range to the Chicken Jousters. He aims and fires a crossbow bolt at the fallen jousters knocked off by Luke. The bolt sails over his head and strikes the defensive wall.

Bart, Crossbow = [1d20+3] = 3+3 = 6, [1d6] = 1 dmg.

Blixx continues his vampiric drain of the bombard crew and takes a shot at Helhornic Blost with his musket. The musket is hard to steady while hovering in the air, and Blixx misses his target completely.

Blixx, Vampiric drain =[2d4] = 4
Blixx, Musket [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6, [1d12] = 1 dmg.

Right after he fires, a strong mental presence floods his mind. Blixx looks around for the source, but doesn’t see anything from his quick glances in the limit of his night vision (60ft.)

The Ant Lord's forces are in full retreat. Mysaurus leads his group to the northwest beginning a pursuit of the enemy. The wall defenders shift west, firing at the fleeing Ant Lord scum. The wall defenders hit some of the fleeing enemy and they cry out in pain.

The bombard mortar explodes in a brilliant succession of blasts, scuttled by a crewmember.

Jet, the SoB, considers his position and decides that he cannot run the gauntlet through Caston's southern defensive zone. He stops, throws down his weapons, raises his arms and turns around to face Kapok and Nor-jax.

The fallen, wounded Chicken Jouster tries to scramble on his feet but keeps falling down in painful agony. His chicken beast mount runs free in a southwest direction between Mysaurus' group, the fleeing Ant Lord forces and the approaching bombard team captives.

Current Hit Points:

Kapok = 29
Nor-jax = 21
Blixx = 34 (20)
Frank = 63
Bart = 38
Luke = 43

Kapok, Mutant Plant

Kapok (and presumably Nor-Jax) approaches Jet cautiously, unsure of what other mutant powers this traitor may have.

"Nor-Jax, press your spear to his throat. If he twitches, run him through." Kapok then retrieves Jet's weapons and searches him for anything else that might be considered a weapon or valuable (i.e. useful).

Frank, Pure Human

Frank cracks a grin after watching the effect of his grenade and with sword in hand; he charges towards the downed riders; switching the sword to his good, right hand....

OOC: When/If he gets close enough to a Jouster he will swing the sword if the target seems alert and a threat; if still dazed he will try to club the rider with the pommel of the sword

Nor-Jax, MA gorilla

Nor-jax runs up and pulls the spear from the ground. He rushes back and holds the spear to Jet's throat as Kapok suggested.

"Jet-man was friend of Nor-jax. Why Jet-man go away and now fight us?" he growled. "Jet-man bad man! Nor-jax no like Jet-man any more!"

Round 15

Kapok and Nor-jax approach and capture Jet the SoB.

“Gentle beings,” Jet nods nervously. “You have my condolences for your losses, but I was under the influence of the Ant Lord. I was captured when I wandered off to find some torch supplies for exploring the market ruins.”

You collect the following from Jet:

  • Junk armor + football helmet
    Polearm with modified musket lashed to the pole
    Powder and shot for musket (12 shots)
    Punch-dagger/handblade
    Waterskin
    Small sack
    Spyglass
Luke steadies his rifle at the remaining, mounted Chicken Jouster. His aim is true and he strikes the mounted rider for 5 points of damage! The Chicken Jouster remains in his saddle and continues his route.

Luke, Rifle, [1d20+3] = 11+3 = 14, [1d12] = 5 dmg.

Frank runs up to the downed and stunned Chicken Beasts and dismounted riders. All are unconscious and do not pose a threat.

Bart moves forward, taking a flank position to the west of Frank and the subdued Chicken Jousters. The Chicken Jouster that Luke shot runs past his position, so he clicks and fires his crossbow hitting for 2 points of damage. The rider slumps in pain, but continues riding.

Bart, Crossbow = [1d20+3] = 19+3 = 22, [1d6] = 2 dmg.

Blixx continues to search for the source of the Mental Presence! As he moves over the battlefield continuing his Vampiric Drain and keeping a wary eye on attackers, he spots something darting along the ground in the midst of the retreating force. At first he thinks it's a rabbit or some other small animal. To his astonishment it appears to be a miniature person moving at a high rate of speed. Could this be the Ant Lord? Is this how he ‘disappeared’?

Blixx, Vampiric drain =[2d4] = 6

Mysaurus and his troop continue their pursuit of the Ant Lord’s forces. The former captives, who were pulling the now destroyed bombard, continue moving towards Caston. The Ant Lord’s forces continue to move west, some using the fleeing bombard captives as cover. Arrows and the occasional gun shot from Caston's wall defenders rain down on the group, killing one of the attackers and wounding several more.

Current Hit Points:

Kapok = 29
Nor-jax = 21
Blixx = 34 (26)
Frank = 63
Bart = 38
Luke = 43

Frank, Pure Human

Frank cracks a grin at the effect of the grenade and he then pulls out his coil of rope and cuts lengths and begins tying the hands of the fallen jousters; looting them for any obvious weapons or items of interest (i.e. not going through their pockets for every little thing; just taking stuff like knives, guns, etc.). He eyes the large 'chickens' warily; not sure what to do with them and hoping they just run off or don't pose any threat when they recover their senses....

Blixx - Mutant Human

Blixx will cease his Vampiric abilities before he injuries any allies. He will attempt a shot off at the "tiny" Ant Lord as he flees, he would never shoot a fleeing enemy normally, however, he constitutes a real danger and must be stopped.

Nor-Jax, MA gorilla

Nor-jax wished that he had brought his backpack with him rather than leaving it int he village. He had a nice length of chain and a lock that would have bound Jet up nicely.

"Jet-man walk to village,"Nor-jax ordered. "Village-people has rope to tie jet-man tight. Don't try escape or Nor-Jax poke you hard with spear."The mutant gorilla jabbed his spear threateningly at Jet. "Walk!"

Round 16

Nor-jax escorts Jet back to the entrance of Caston. During the journey he turns and scoffs at Nor-jax, “I’m the only one among you worthy enough to be in the Ant Lord’s service.” Nor-jax prods him forward and they are greeted by one of Caston’s militia.

Kapok approaches Frank and helps bind the stunned captives. Seeing that Frank is almost finished, he moves to the wounded jouster and readies his axe. The jouster holds up a hand, signaling his surrender. Kapok keeps an eye on the unconscious chicken beasts and makes ready to sooth them with his empathic abilities.

Frank finishes binding the two stunned and unconscious jousters. He collects seven javelins and a hand axe from the two jousters and chicken beast packs. Frank stays alert and watches the chicken beasts for signs of movement.

Luke moves to the west along Caston’s southern wall. He takes aim and fires at the remaining, mounted chicken jouster. Luke strikes a grazing hit for 1 point of damage.

Luke, Rifle, [1d20+3] = 11+3 = 14, [1d12] = 1 dmg.

Bart advances west, taking a crossbow shot at the same chicken jouster. He misses with the crossbow.

Bart, Crossbow = [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9, [1d6] = 5 dmg.

Blixx stops using his vampyric drain, steadies his position and fires at the tiny Ant Lord. He tries his best, but cannot hit the tiny target (1/8 his normal size).

Blixx, Musket [1d20+1] = 15+1 = 16, [1d12] = 1 dmg.

Round 17-1

Luke takes aim and fires again, scoring a direct hit that knocks the wounded jouster from his saddle! The jouster rolls over and lies on his back, clenching his chest. The unencumbered chicken beast continues its course to the west with increased speed.

Luke, Rifle, [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20, [1d12] = 5 dmg.

This was your last rifle round. I assume you have saved the spent casings and will attempt to have them reloaded.

Kapok, Mutant Plant

Kapok disarms the jouster and secures his with a length of cord, then searches him for anything of value and makes sure he doesn't have any additional weapons.

Once that is done, he returns to monitoring the birds, prepared to calm them down with his powers of empathy.

Round 17-2

Kapok moves in and secures the wounded jouster.

The man winces in pain, but has a reprieve when we gets a good look at Kapok. Fear in his eyes, the man attempts to roll away but once again slumps to the ground in agony. You search his person and find a small dagger and a flask of well-aged alcohol.

The chicken beasts begin to stir, so you focus on them and are ready to act.
