Are you guys hiding to try to avoid them, or to ambush them?

I'd recommend that we attempt to hide and let them pass on by.
1. We're not brigands to fall on and kill parties unprovoked.

2. Seeing as we are stuck in the underworld, we're not in a position to attack every monster we encounter.

3. Fighting unnecessarily gives the Drow a chance to catch up with us.

Since we're doing a lousy job of hiding, we should try to parlay, and then attack if that doesn't work.

The point may be moot, seeing as we have already fired upon them, but we may want to agree on a protocol for future encounters.

I agree. We don't have a lot of resources at the moment, and unnecessary combat just weakens us.

Ok... so Ornthalas does have a darn good attack roll sitting there...

Tell you what. Ornthalas' choice. He can take the shot and start the fight, or hold the shot for this plan (which seems to be... try to avoid them or parley). If he holds it, he'd be in position for a shot at advantage/ with initiative if combat started back up, but he'd have to reroll.

I posted to attack. The party didn't come up with any sort of protocol, so Ornthalas doesn't know the others want to parley. Of course, the others don't realize how poorly they have hidden, either. Having said that, I did state that if the goblins notice the party, which seems pretty likely at this point, he would wait until someone is engaged in combat. He wants the sneak attack and if he can't surprise them he will need to fire at one in melee.

So, there are three options, all of which depend on the goblins.

• 1. If the goblins don't notice the party and stroll in close, Ornthalas takes the shot.
  2. If the goblins do notice the party and engage in combat, he will hold until melee occurs, then he will take the shot.
  3. If the goblins do notice the party and engage in conversation, he will hold.

You do realize that since I rolled a crit, and the dice roller hates me, we'll end up talking, the crit won't get used, and I won't roll another Nat 20 on an attack roll the rest of the adventure.

I want to apologize to everyone for being away. The last couple of weeks have been rough. A few weeks ago, my wife lost a friend of her's to a stroke. She was only 47 years old and a single mom. She leaves behind a 21 year old and a 15 year old. Thankfully the boys' father is still in their lives and they have moved in with him. A couple of days later, a friend of my son committed suicide. Once we recovered from that, my maternal grandmother passed away in her sleep after almost 93 years of good living. I'm not looking for sympathy or condolences, just understanding why I have been absent.
