A quick fix to the night watch rotation would be to put Drudsa in Grey Jake's spot (I think it might be time to re-do both the marching order and the night watch when we get back to Threshold).
That will be ok as far as I'm concerned.

Finglas wrote:Lanny, concerning the gift of bundled sticks from Elyenya, do you intend to craft arrows out of them using your own skill in fletching? If so, then Bregalad will give the bundle to you (minus 2 sticks he will keep for himself). Bregalad was planning on finding a competent fletcher in town, but that would be cool if the arrows were crafted by a party member.
Good question! Lanny does not actually have any skill points invested in Fletching (and won't get any more skill points until Level 5), so I'm not sure whether he can craft them or not. If crafting an arrow just requires passing a dexterity check (as suggested by the DD Rulebook p. 45-46), then Lanny has a good chance of succeeding, since he has a 14 dexterity. However, there might be modifiers as well (for lack of tools, etc.). TK, how do you rule on this one? Can Lanny craft arrows with just a dexterity check, or does he need to have at least one skill point invested in Fletching? If Lanny IS able to craft arrows, how many could he craft within a 2-hour period?
He, or anyone, I suppose, could craft arrows from them. However, the full benefit would not be gained unless they were enchanted at the same time. In other words, made into magic arrows. You can do whatever you want, but my intention was to have given an extra bonus had they been made into magic arrows, something elf-y related. In other words, rather than make arrows +1 they might be arrows +1/+3 v. undead, or something like that.

Suggested magical arrows:

Cupid's Arrows, arrows +1, if target is pierced by the arrow and survives it must make a saving throw vs spells or suffering the same effects of a Charm Person spell with the subject of the target's friendship being the first living being seen by the target after being hit. If the person shooting the arrow names a specific individual before shooting, that individual will be the subject of the target's friendship. If the subject is an individual os the same species of the target and of the gender (or sexual orientation) romantically preferred by the target, the effect will be strengthened to cause the target to be in love with the subject, potentially going against his nature, better reason or personal safety to protect, aid and please the subject. The effect is permanent and can only be dispelled by a magic user or cleric of name level or above.

To clarify, if turned into arrows without being imbued with magic they have the potential to be masterwork, gaining a non-magical +1 to damage. If you guys want you'll need to roll ones to craft masterwork arrows without the skill.

Sounds reasonable. So then I suggest we wait until we can make magic arrows imbued with some special power. In the meantime, if Bregalad still wishes Lanny to carry the branches, Lanny will do so (just let me know).

TK, I don't know if I was supposed to declare it on the past day. But as stated earlier, Meagnor is studying Analyse with Tratiln.

Finglas wrote:Bregalad would prefer to wait until one of us has mastered Analyse, before attempting to open the secret door.
About Analyze: In reading the DD Rulebook, I'm not sure how effective an Analyze spell would be on the secret door. The DD Rulebook says "To use an analyze spell, the caster must imitate using the item." I'm not sure how one imitates using a secret door (other than perhaps pushing on it). It also says "Any curses or other ill effects of the item may affect the caster." So if there is some sort of curse on the door, the caster may be affected regardless. Finally, even if one of us studies the spell for the entire day, I'm not even sure we have the spell scribing supplies on hand to complete the spell learning process.

As a group, I agree it would be good to try to learn Analyze as soon as possible to help us with basic identification of magic items that we find during the course of adventuring (such as those 3 stoppered flasks or the chain mail armor), and Detect Magic to help us with studying the properties of all other magical entities (such as this magical secret door).

To elaborate, Analyze is unlikely to be of much help. Detect Magic and skill use is the best way to identify it. I would also rule that a high enough level thief (say, 10th level or higher) would have a chance to identify the spell on the door.

Traveling back to Brazil so I will not have reliable Internet access until late tomorrow.

Please assume Drudsa goes with the majority on decision making.

I'm fine with these as long as taking third watch doesn't affect my ability to get a full night's rest and pray for spells.

I'm not sure what it says in the DD Rulebook -- not on me -- but I know B/X required 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. However, I have not been enforcing that rule, so I'd say you're good to go.

Bregalad the elf

Bregalad likes the suggested marching order, as it will allow him to use his spear from the second rank!

Concerning the night watch, any order is fine with him.

Ha! Cancelled connecting flights in Paris and in Rio, so after almost 2 days I still have not reached my destination. :|

Ever wondered why direct flights are more expensive?

Okay, we haven't heard from Luis in a while. Saul is officially Lost in the Dark. He'll reappear if we hear from Luis, but until then one of y'all will need to pretend to be a thief.

Fair enough. Always hated that Luís bugger. Damn Portuguese arseholes, always making the game run late. Ban the lot of them from the Internets!

Seriously now, sorry... again... As I said IC I think I've got my schedule worked out and should be back to normal. Onwards and forwards, or upwards as we're going.

Cool. Not to be a dick, but I've been pretty up front about requiring a post once a day. I understand when RL gets in the way, but if you don't think you can hack it I'd rather not slow things down for everyone else.

Trust me, I understand completely and I don't think any less of you for carrying on/fading Saul away. If anyone was at fault it was me and I would have posted sooner but I just couldn't find the time.
