Lysander, Paladin

"If that image is any indication as to what waits beyond this door, then best be ready with your blades. The beast can apparently carry ten men at once."

Lysander stays near Oggle, ready to assist if another shoulder is needed to force the door.

It takes both of you and Thurgrum to force the door open, making a loud scraping noise of stone on stone. And this is what you see:

Magical white light suddenly illuminates a wide room that's divided into four distinct areas. Each area is roughly octagonal and roughly the same size. The ceiling in each of these areas is vaulted and about 20 feet high at the apex. A stylized symbol of an eye adorns the center of the tiled floor in the central section of the room.

Lysander, Paladin

Lysander crouches in front of the eye and inspects it; following its gaze to the ceiling.
Would Lysander know of Deneir?

Wisdom rolls for Thurgrum, Jase, and Lewis: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4148315/

The symbols on the door, nor the symbol of the eye mean nothing to Lysander. Thurgrum, however, walks into the strange room, as do Jase and Lewis. Lewis wanders over to the paladin and just stands and looks around. Thurgrum says, "These here symbols on the floor match the engravings on the door. I bet me teeth that this room be some sort of way to go deeper into the tombs."

"You're right, and I think some of these tiles can be moved,"Jase says, kneeling down by the tiles in the left alcove. "See, this one is out of place," he literally picks up one of the tiles and shows it to you. It depicts men shaking hands.

Oggle will help the others to try and figure out what tiles are out of place and to place them where they should go. He is otherwise is silent prayer asking Bahamut for guidance and protection from the foulness of this tomb.

OOC: Do the images match the image on the door by chance? Also if Oggle while doing this has to enter a room he enters staying on the same row the symbol of the eye is on.

Lysander, Paladin

Lysander chuckles as Oggle, Jase, Lewis and Thurgrum solve the puzzle. "I didn't realize it at first, but with your example I see the relation. Ten symbols on the image outside of the door, and ten images in this room; all around a central eye". Lysander walks to each room and looks at the tiles with the images, seeing if the order correlates with the engraving as Oggle had mentioned.

"But what of the riddle? Magic dies, fast men slow, the passage you seek is not below. Eye of death, eye of stone, the key to passage they haven't shown. Fear and mind you can say will move you around in the wrong way. Friends are six sleep in rest, neither points to the passage that's best. Enemy friend, painful wound, oblivion aids. It is runed."

Oggle can tell that the ten symbols on the outside of the door are the exact same symbols that are in the three rooms...however a few of them are out of place. With Jase's help, they place the symbols in their proper order, switching four symbols around, arranging them like they are depicted on the door engraving. Once the final tile is put in place, a green ray suddenly shoots from the ceiling above this square, and the floor in this location disappears! Beneath the floor, a ladder leads down into the darkness...

"Well if we listen to the riddle that hole that just opened up is not the passage we seek but i'm not a damned bard who works on riddles so unless you have a better idea i'm going down that ladder to kick some evil ass!"

Oggle then shoots Lysander a smirk and walks over toward the ladder.

The ladder leads to a wide landing, maybe 10 feet wide. Nearby, a narrow and shallow staircase descends to another landing that is narrower than the one you're on. It looks like the stairs might continue beyond that.

Oggle moves past the first landing and begins descending the steeper stairs. "Hold yer dang horses!" Thurgrum growls from behind Lysander. "We're coming too!"

As you reach the bottom of the second staircase, the narrow passage opens into a wide landing. Two piles of bones lie near an opening to the west, where another stairway descends. As you watch, the bones shift and stir. You hear what sounds like a wolf howl, but the call seems as if it comes from far away. Two doglike skeletons rise and face you.

Both Oggle and Lysander see the skeletons form and rise and have just enough time to prepare for the coming attack!

Lysander, Paladin

Lysander maneuvers down to the landing in order to meet the abominations in melee. "We are set upon!", he shouts in warning.

Initiative:[1d10] = 10 Initiative

The wolf howl surprises and startles Oggle as his muscles tense and freeze up for a brief moment before he starts hacking apart the nearest dog skeleton with multiple hearty swings. "Bahamut I beseech you, bring me your aid and send these foul undead back to the hell from whence they came!"

[1d20+3] = 19+3 = 22[1d20+3] = 19+3 = 22 Oggle's 1st Round Attacks
[1d8+3] = 4+3 = 7[1d8+3] = 2+3 = 5 Oggle's 1st Round Damage

Lower Mausoleum, Stairs 1
Initiative Order: Lysander & Lewis (2), Skeletons & Jase (5), Thurgrum (7), Oggle (10)

Lysander is the first to attack, slamming the skeletal wolf with his sword, knocking a few bones loose. "Outta my way!" Lewis hollers from the back of the group, pushing his way down the stairs, trying to get past Jase and Thurgrum.
But the skeletons attack before he can, biting at Lysander and Oggle, but not being able to get through the companion's armor. Oggle takes a few seconds to gather himself, but once he does, his blades come whirling down on one of the skeletons, knocking out several bones, taking out one of its legs. Still, on three legs, it comes at him!
(Just as a reminder, your blades only do half damage to skeletons.)

"Back hell-spawn! Back away and cower before the might of the All-Father!" Thurgrum's voice booms in the stairwell as he brandishes his holy symbol and commands the skeletons. And they obey, cowering (if such could be said of skeletons) in fear, backing as far as they can down the other flight of stairs and into the room below.

Lewis finally manages to push his way past the others and follows the skeletal dogs down the stairs a bit. And then he screams, his body jerking spasmodically, as his head is suddenly turned completely around, facing you...while his body continues to face down the stairs! Blood gushes out of Lewis' mouth as he falls down the stairs and at the bottom of the stairs you see a huge skeleton...waiting for its next victim! http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4154896/

"Lewis, no!", Lysander screams. The paladin advances on the massive skeleton, bringing his sword against it.

"Lewis damn it all to hell!"

Oggle rushes into the fray using his strength and his longswords as clubs to hack bones off of his skeletal foe.

[1d20+3] = 10+3 = 13[1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5[1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23 Oggle's 2nd Round Attacks
[1d12+3] = 4+3 = 7[1d12+3] = 3+3 = 6 Round 2 Damage

OOC: One of those is a crit I forget how we handle crits in your game Hedge, i've hopped between too many systems these days lol.

Lower Mausoleum, Stairs 2
Initiative Order: Thurgrum (2), Jase (3), Ogre skeleton (4), Lysander (5), Oggle (6)

http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4157858/

Thurgrum steps over Jase's body and hurls a throwing hammer at the Ogre skeleton, but his aim is off and the throw goes wide. Jase grabs Lewis' body, stifling a sob, and drags the young sentinel out of the stairwell. The Ogre skeleton swipes at Thurgrum and misses the dowdy dwarf, and then Lysander and Oggle stream down the stairs, pressing the attack.
Lysander's blade barely chips a shoulder bone, while Oggle's double-bladed attack, cracks ribs and shatters one of the skeleton's arms, staggering it!
(Crit rolls do double damage ;) )

Actions > give me TWO rounds of attacks (or we might be here all day!)

Stats:
Oggle - down 5 hp
Thurgrum - down 4 hp
Lewis - dead
Ogre skeleton - down 10 hp
