Coincidentally enough Hrothgar also hates loose threads...perhaps there is hope for your future friendship!

Sam is going to shift his focus to reviewing all of the information that is being displayed around the room - making notes here and there in his notebook. Perhaps with a new set of eyes on the matter he can see some connections that the team has been overlooking.

Roy goes off to turn on the news to see about that story he read about online.

Re: The Firehouse - Home Sweet Home 2
An anchor comes on at the head of the newscast on channel 3. a city official was found dead this morning in their home. We have the details. Also, also the local botanical club is getting ready for the blooming of a rare flower. You won't want to miss that. And are you getting enough calcium?Roy wrote: goes off to turn on the news to see about that story he read about online.
Dr. Wue will be here next to take a crack at weakening bones in our ask the experts section later in the newscast
Another talking head with a lot of monitors in the fore and background. And I will have your a look at your weather in about 15mins. Dont go away!
The anchor: Thank Mike. So first in our lineup, we have Bur with the top story on the death of a local city official.
Bur?
But comes onto a live shot in front of City Hall. Guy, the body of Bill Maily, a City Official for the Permits department, was found in his home today. The FSPD is not releasing any details at this time, but it is being rumored as a suicide by anonymous sources. As one might expect, family and friends are shocked by this. Maily was considered a happy man who seemed content with his life. But he was not perfect as we know he had a long boute out alcoholism in the past, and he was arrested for public intoxication only a few weeks ago after, as he put it, falling off the wagon
This public apology did not escape one, Father Belmont just this past Sunday, from adding him to his Watchdog program here on Channel 3.
The program switches to a video of Father Belmont's program where he stands at his pulpit, in an other bare room with a large and rugged looking cross in the background. The video quality is very low grade. There is a very unflattering image of Maily below Belmont. And the regardless of your fork tongued so called apology to the public you exploit at a job that you do the bidding of that foul man you pathetically call mayor, earning a shameful amount of money, more than any man needs or deserves, at the expense of good Christian men and their labor, you have yet to come stand before the One, and only, the Alpha and the Omega, and Ever Living God!
Save your soul from the eternal flames you so eagerly pursue! Come kneel! Come kneel before this cross and weep! Come realize your life as you have lived is puny, pathetic, and most of all unworthy of the release and forgiveness of the On True God! You have been put on notice, Bill Maily. God is watching you!
But comes back on. Guy, the city has released a statement saying: we are sorry for the loss of our friend and coworker. He was a good man who loved serving the people of this town. We are going to do all we can to help his family during this time of need.
The Anchor reappears on the screen. Thank you, Bur.
We wish to stress that Channel 3 News has no associationwith Father Belmont or his church and its program.

Joker pointedly ignores Hrothgar and his antics, turning back to the whiteboards.
Soon enough, he stops what he's doing and begins digging online. He's trying to trace Mary Duncan (missing and presumed dead 1908). It's a longshot, but she's a loose thread... and Joker HATES loose threads.
He's using national databases, looking for a notable lady who turned up at about the time Mary vanished- somewhere else in the country. Notable being defined as wealthy, mysterious, rumored to be Gifted, influential, or any combination of these.

Sam is able to see that the name Harper is attached to 2 jobs so far, the job at John Henry Tooling Warehouse, the bust at UAFS, and that the recent tweet put up on a sticky note today by Lionel asking "who'd we tick off?". Looks like this family connected at least a few times to the Firehouse and their work.Samwell Turleton wrote:Sam is going to shift his focus to reviewing all of the information that is being displayed around the room - making notes here and there in his notebook. Despite his concentration on his research, Father Belmont's bile penetrates. Joker scowls, He sounds like some protestors I know of. He ran out of God's Words long ago, I think.

Yeah, I don't think I talked to him much but...feels bad man. I say we look into it just to make sure its not related to... and he gestures around. And he worked with Gabby so, I know shes taking it hard. Speaking ofIt seems to me most of the group is in here so if not sorry, not trying to leave anyone out.Sam found a lead with one of the names that I happen to know, its a local psychopomp I've been bribing so I have an angle to work there. We still have a ton of stuff dangling from you-know-who, anyone have anything they need help with before I head out for a bit?

Sam fidgets nervously as the time is wearing on thinking that this group doesn't seem like they are close to wrapping up and didn't I sign on to an eight hour work day in my contract?
He understands the need to work longer hours to deal with an emergency but...just then the news anchor mentions the blooming of a rare flower and Sam turns his attention to that.
What is the news station called again?, he says as he searches Fort Smith botanical club and rare flower on his phone.
While the search query is loading on his phone, Hrothgar, did you make a new friend? The cat is shredding a check made out to Dzjoker...it never stood a chance.

Joker watches TheCat tear up some of his notes with a mix of annoyance and fear in his eyes.
Perhaps we should speak to the current generation of Blackwells. They may have data we can use.
Also- I collected some ectoplasm while we were at the cemetery. Would one of you analyze it? I'm not good with chemicals.

Hot but Breezy
Sam and Roy are able to learn that the plant getting ready to bloom is one brought in by a foreign dignitary from West Brazil who had visited as part of a small town diplomatic program. The flower is called a Uugi-Puugi: Scientific name is Qui-comederit plantabis-tibi. Also known as Seymour's Flower. It was donated to the Garden Club 4 years ago while it was still a young plant. The plants take 5 years to bloom and it will be ready to open its gigantic bud in the coming months. This flower has never been photographed and has never been seen in the States. It is expected to be ready to bloom around the end of next month. The Botanical Club is teaming up with the City to have a big "Blooming Party" sometime at the end of September.
Mac remember that he knows the city official that was mentioned on the news as one of the two that tipped him off on the Historical Site possibly being haunted.
Joker mentions that he has samples of the black ectoplasm from the two Harris Stones.
Jason is eager to help, but also is eager to get ready for his date, asking if anyone needs anything... Also, something smells good from the kitchenette upstairs...
Lionel and Red are more or less hanging out. Lionell seeming more focused on the big kitty than his work.
What is Red up to?

Rubbing the kitty's belly and ignoring any claws or teeth, Lionel looks up suddenly. Wait- so the guy who told us the Historical Site is haunted is dead? Coincidence, or did someone get mad because of what he told us?

On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

I wouldn't rule out foul play, but it could be something else. I cant get a solid read on Sgt. Hightai but I think if were straight up with him that we just want to rule out any spooky stuff. This is real life and death stuff so, I feel like its kind of our duty to make sure its not something we can prevent. He looks around the room, I think Joker has a good point with the current Blackwells, He walks over to teh board writing, or underlining what is written.
Gloria is probably the best shot there, Also. there is a meeting with the Cado tonight, if I can make it I am going to try to go, but someone should show up to make sure they arent waking up A'ya'hi'ya to build a mini mall or something.
I can work on them tonight, just leave them in the lab specimen locker.Urson wrote:Joker

After dinner, I will call the Joinets and arrange a meeting. Munching a slice of 'za, Joker searches for anything he can find out about the Joinets.
Joker finally sees the shredded paper Hrothgar has been messing with. He says nothing, but his jaw tightens.

Joker may be surprised to find out how much information there is on these two ladies. Once a direct search is made, he is able to find some information on Gloria Joniet. She had a few flags on her own personal record of trespassing and loitering as well, but it falls off steeply within the last five to ten years, though she remains a strong advocate for gravesite preservation and working with police as a private investigator.
Jeniveve Joniet. There is a strong online presence about Jeniveve. She has all the typical online social media accounts, and on all accounts, she is directly linked to an organization called D.O.O.R. She is listed as being a "Hermetic" and "Psychic Investigator". There are plenty of images and videos of her with the organization, some of which she seems to be participating in mixes of what you can recognize as very similar work with similar equipment to your own for paranormal investigating, as well as what seems to be rituals and witchcraft. She has a niche but prevalent following on all platforms.
There is even some feedback from reviewers talking about a range of ratings, some 1s and 2s but several 3s and 4s, a smattering of 5 star reviews. It seems pretty regular in the spread but in most accounts, it seems they are well received and often asked to look into presumed hauntings and even a possession once. It seems like your usual hobbyist group for your brand of work with more ritual handling of problems than tech-based, though that doesn't seem to be out of the question from some of their recorded work.
Then there is the murdercase from last year: It is highlighted in all papers and media. FSPD were stumped on a missing person's report on a young woman back in Dec. 2017:
Sarah was missing for 2 months after not coming home from a party to celebrate the end of the first semester of her class's senior year. Police were baffled and the case had gone cold when they were approached by a local paranormal investigation group called D.O.O.R. about a lead.
The group collaborated with the skeptical police about evidence and within two days, the remains of the missing teen were found in the woods where a bonfire had been lit to eliminate evidence of the body. Thankfully there was enough teeth and other remains to identify a young person had been inside the bonfire.
Being able to trace evidence of wheel tracks and leads from one, Jeniveve Joniet and her psychic readings, they were able to trace other leads to find the truck that matched the descriptions given by Miss. Joniet as well as other info connecting several people to using the leased land as a hunting area.
Joniet was credited to being able to focus the leads to one man who had access to the location as well as a truck, was able to be investigated through probable cause where Sarah's DNA was found in the truck as well as a couple personal items found in possession of the accused.
Within a short time, the accused, Michael Harper, was found guilty and remains in custody serving an 85 year sentence in the Arkansas State Prison.
At this point the young Joniet became a but of a local celebrity for a short time and tracing the news after, it was a big part of the push in the area to bring in more professional organizations of this type, leading to the mayor riding the wave of this popular new trend and establishing the city's decision to bring in a local Ghostbuster Department.
