Your not wrong, but. This thing seems benevolent more or less. We can shut down development and investigate the site We might be able to get out of it without throwing any proton beams. Jason leans back and scratches his beard. I mean if theres remains there it deserves to be protected, thats just the right thing to do.

Roy really into the research looks up at Lionel "Yeah that's what I was thinking, it's pretty cool though. Well at least I've always though so I really get into this kind of thing. It'd be really crazy to have some sort of altar built then the mound suddenly is no longer infested with snakes if it's at all like the story we uncovered in the research."Scott308 wrote:Lionel "Freight Train" Williams
Having spent some time on social media, Lionel checks in on the researchers. So, we're dealing with an eight-headed snake god? Who's mad because the graves have been disturbed? That's a bit of a step up in class, huh? Give me a coffee-cup thrower, any day!
Roy "That's what I'm thinking too Jason we might be able to do something similar to that story build some sort of altar have a ritual or some such event and end the haunting as well as the snake infestation."Taaz wrote:Your not wrong, but. Yeah lets look to see if there are any commonalities in how other cultures commune with it. See if we can communicate peaceful intent.

Re: The Firehouse. Home sweet home.
There is nothing clear about how alters were constructed by the Caddo and there is little to nothing written about how the other cultures do it either other than offerings being made and a holy person having to put it up.
I have another post to make with Etta and Mac depending on the roll she makes and I will be linking everyone back here. So bare with me
we are almost there!

Jason is waiting, small talking with Roy and setting up and investigation board with what they can find that roughly match other records, summing up the research on a whiteboard in the library.

Roy small talking with Jason and adding his thoughts and theories to the investigation board with what is being found that better matches everything else they've found thus far adds any of his theories to the whiteboard in the library. "Hopefully Julia doesn't mind we are using this."

Raining & Cooling
When Thomas climbs out of the Jeep with Mac, he seems almost drawn to the Containment unit and stares at it for a long moment. He holds his hands out towards it and says a few words, then turns to Mac and says something with a grin, pointing to the stairs, indicating he is ready to head up and see the rest of the building which shifts and groans over their head in the wind of the storm brewing outside. The age of the building seeming to sing a song as it flexes slightly in the gusts despite the brick construction. The elder moves to shuffle his way up the stairs and whistles a little as he looks over everything on his way up as the stairs open up into the rest of the renovated but at least semi historic building that was the Firehouse.
It is about this time that Etta &Jean make it in the front door just before the real downpour begins outside. Jean looked a little more relaxed now to both Mac & Etta but still had the stoic and skeptical expression that seemed to have made itself a permanent mark of her face at rest. The indian woman shook off a little of the rain while they were in the entryway over the rug and then made her way over to Thomas, speaking to him in Caddo. The syntax was so different that it is hard to tell exactly what her tone is since her way of speaking is a little more powerful and stacato than her softer and smoother speaking grandfather. Whatever it was she said or asked of him he just grinned and took her hand in his to pat it, giving the impression he was reassuring her about something. She then stepped out of his way as he walked forward without any kind of prompting to the conference room full of white boards where he looked over them for a bit and whistled again before chuckling. He looked over to Jean and spoke some words to which she turned to Etta & Mac.
Jean: He is curious about what all this means. The writing and diagrams on the boards. He also wants to meet the rest of your team and see where you eat and sleep. Dont as me why, he has his own way of doing things.

Etta can respond to anything Jean opened up about here, just divide the post. I know I kind of rushed things back to this thread because I wanted to keep things from getting bogged down for Joker, Roy, and Lionel. Sorry if this has a negative effect.Etta wrote: ...if Jean seems open to it, asking some direct questions about her grandfather—his history, his connection with her people's culture, his personality, likes, and antipathies.

Re: The Firehouse. Home sweet home.
Etta rushes in from the rain and upstairs to the personal area of the firehouse, uncharacteristically leaving the others to introduce themselves to the Ten-Chiefs. She comes back a few minutes later with a wrap around her head, and offers a towel to Jean. "Apologies, but a black woman with wet hair is nothing to trifle with."
She happily shows the Ten-Chiefs around, including the sleeping quarters, "It's a bit of a bachelor pad, in here. I stay at my daughter's place." And she looks around for Lionel. "I think your grandfather might be very pleased to meet our firehouse's own Freightrain."

Re: The Firehouse. Home sweet home.
Thomas was poking around the bunks getting a look at personal items as well as what beds were used, which ones were made up and which ones were left sloppy. He then was peeking into the kitchen area when he heard Etta mention "Frieghttrain". He perks up and looks over. Foot-ball. O. U. Williams?

Mac
Mac will follow along and try to keep the chief talking. Will also work in his knowledge about the local history.
Cool +3 Brownie Points [5d6] = 24 Ghost [1d6] = 2
Brains (History specialty) +3 Brownie Points [6d6] = 27 Ghost Die [1d6] = 6
I couldn't remember what the specialty added so may need another die or something.

Specialty is awsome. You take your normal amount of dice and add 5 more d6 to the rollRex wrote:Mac

So you get 3 dice for your normal roll plus the specialty is 8. So before brownie points you are rolling 7d6 + G:1d6 So you can choose to save your brownie points just roll 1d6 to make up the difference and you will actually get en extra dice than what you were attempting here without spending anything extra, or you can add the 3 BPs on top of that.

Jason is talking to Roy about as the old man wandered in and began looking at the whiteboards confused. He was just about to ask who he was when Etta and the young lady walked in. Oh, hey. He waves and steps to the women, extending his hand to Jean Hi, I'm Jason one of Ettas team mates.
They are our investigation notes, there were disturbances at this area that occur and we were hired to investigate it. We believe it could be connected with the Cado and so far everything we can find, even stuff from other regions and cultures make it out to be benevolent or even a positive supernatural occurrence. We were hoping someone with from your people could help us resolve it respectfully.Bluehorse wrote:Jean: He is curious about what all this means. The writing and diagrams on the boards.

Roy shakes his head agreeing with Jason's explanation. "Maybe there is something we're missing, do your people have any tales of anything similar to a hydra?" he asks the chief.

Joker
Joker joins the others, apparently wide awake. He offers a handshake to Jean and Thomas.
I am pleased to meet you. I'm Joker Jelal .
He takes out one of his skinny black cigars, forgetting that the building is a non- smoking area. He'll gladly share with Thomas, if the Elder asks for one.

Lionel "Freight Train" Williams
As the Ten-Chiefs enter and start looking at the White board, Lionel introduces himself. Hi! You must be the...chief? Elder? I'm not sure how to address you, sir. Sorry. And I take it you, ma'am, are his daughter? My name is Lionel. Pleased to meet you both. He offers his hand in greeting.

Re: The Firehouse. Home sweet home.
Seeing as how Mac has already rolled at least good enough regardless of which way he chooses to go with his roll later...
Mack spots that Thomas's band around his hat is designed to match a Vietnam War ribbon along with several other army decorations, including more than a couple that indicates combat and valor.
So before I say anything else, let me say that I am not an expert on military ribbons or if I got these right. Any vets or current servicemen and their families: Any and all errors made are completely due to ignorance and not meant in disrespect. Thank you for our service.
After happily accepting the cigar from Joker, he gives it a little sniff and looks impressed, putting it in his shirt pocket, undoubtedly for later.
Then seeing Lionel he squints a little and then smiles wide, showing no teeth. He makes an excited sound. Williams! he points with his hand looking at Jean who shakes her head and smiles looking amused and the family resemblance is finally visible. Thomas's wrinkles deepen as he walks over and pats Lionel on the shoulder. Frieght Train. WOO WOO! and he laughs. He looks at Lionel saying something and making a writing motion, obviously asking for an autograph. A real football fan! Boomer Sooner! heheheheh!
The old man looks over the board a little while then makes and ah-ha sounds as he taps one of the names.
A'ya'hi'ya... Hadiku Kikah Kah'ahnáywach'ah Hakáayu.
A few more words spoken then followed by Tejas. Then he turns and chuckles a little. Hakáayu Tejas.
This, he seems to find very funny and chuckles as he moves over to a corner where there is a table on the east wall. He begins moving things around clearing the table and pretty much acting like he owns the place. Then he drags over a chair as he takes his hat off, showing the steel blend of salt and pepper hair that shows no signs of thinning with age, though it is course.
He takes out the pack of cigarettes that Jean gave Etta to give him and lights one up with an old zippo that has a 101st Airborn emblem on it. The enamel on it so worn that it seems blurred and polished.
Zippo:
As he draws on the cigarette softly he says a few words and Jean walks over slowly and listens, nodding. She then turns and looks at everyone with a serious expression. Everyone, bring something as an offering. It needs to be personal.
Thomas started speaking and holding out his hands before reaching into his vest for a feather. Holding out the feather and fanning the smoke, he begins singing. His old worn voice filling the firehouse.
Jean looks at them and gives them a look as if to say. Well? Now! What are you waiting for?

Etta: "Oh! Um... offering! Uh, personal... is its value measured in sentimental attachment, or... I have one of my grandbabies' drawings, which is very personal. Would that be a good offering?"
She offers this while fidgeting with her earrings, a gift from her late husband. She is really hoping that she doesn't have to offer them up. They looks so good with her eyes!

Re: The Firehouse. Home sweet home.
Jean and Thomas have a quick exchange. Jean finally answers Etta: He said you are overthinking it. Personal means more symbolic of you. A favorite snack. A button. Something like that. Grandpa sometimes leaves twinkies and crunch bars... but it can be a stone, or a feather, something you have carried. Monetary value means nothing. It is something that feels appropriate. She eyes the earing that Etta is fidgeting with I don't think you need to do anything that drastic. You can also exchange the items later too. Alters change. Grandpa sometimes wants a twinkie and trades it for a turtle shell.Pulpatoon wrote:Etta: "Oh! Um... offering! Uh, personal... is its value measured in sentimental attachment, or...
