OTHERSPACE: Episode Two: CELESTIAL Found

#1 Post by max_vale »

Alliance Transport Celestial; Engine Room; Otherspace

From underneath a pile of crates that had somehow become dislodged while the Transport was under fire from the Imperials came a pain-filled groan. Jackson Crodowski's head throbbed in pain while he felt claustrophobic as he was buried by heavy crates and it took all of his strength to stumble out of the pile of bins and stagger to his feet. His vision swam in front of him and he immediatley felt the cold and could discern the minimal lights showing that life-support was on batteries. His memories slowly came to his mind as he recalled the ship taking heavy hits from the Star Destroyer, the shuddering jump into light speed and then the bizarre sight of the serving Droid suddenly applying a Plasma welder to the Engines….

Alliance Light Frieghter Outrunner; Otherspace

Over the course of an hour or two; the Team of Rebel agents were able to determine several things about thier current situation….

Gavin Storm quickly realized that the damage to the hyperspace engines could be repaired IF they could find a replacement motivator, hypercoil, a power coupler and a 4 axial stabilizer…..which meant either finding a well-stocked starship repair bay or another ship with an undamaged hyperspace engine. The sublight engines on the other hand were just fine….

Zinn Vallimar was able to determine that the nava computer had indeed plotted a course through hyperspace, but the damage to the engine must have occurred just as the ship was making the shift from real-space to hyperspace and therefore the course seemed to have propelled them THROUGH hyperspae to beyond to…..OTHERSPACE. It certainly appeared that he could plot a course back through hyperspace and then the real-space they had come from; but that would of course require a WORKING hyperdrive engine…

Vale Starcloud stretched out with the Force and what he got back was….well….ALIEN for lack of a better term. It was like nothing he had ever experienced before. There was….SOMETHING out there; but there was also a hungry NOTHING as well. It was almost as if there was an intelligent…..Black Hole of anti-life….hungrily searching for life to twist and corrupt. The young Jedi shivered as he felt the….abomination…..and he ALMOST missed the feelings of another life-form out there, somewhere relatively close-by. Feelings of Confusion, Fear, Pain…..feelings of an intelligent, sentient being that he was accustomed to sensing when stretching out with the Empathy power of the Force….

Professor Clark utlized his considerable intelligence for awhile on the wonders of being in an alternate dimension or parallel 'plane of existence' for awhile, before shaking his head and moving to the co-pilot station to focus on more practical matters like trying to figure out if there was anything nearby that might help them in thier current predicament. He soon noticed a massive, miles-cloud cloud of charged-energy seemed to be located quite close to thier ship and even closer than that was a vessel that matched the size and signatures of the Rebel Transport Celestial they had been assigned to meet…

Zuul Ksska idly looked out the screens to scan the strange gray space they found themselves in and then suddenly cocked his large head to one side for a long moment as he abruptly realized he was looking at something different than the ash-colored background he had been staring at for a long time now. Getting the attention of the others, he directed them to take a gander out the cockpit and they all saw the same strange sight….

There, against the steel-gray expanse was spinning a rainbow colored cloud of energy; that was occasionally brightly lit by sudden flashes of bright yellow or white strobes. In the midst of the flashes, the dark, slowly drifting shape of an Alliance Transport could be seen. A few lights could be seen on the other ship and the name slowly came into view….Celestial; the ship the Rebels had been assigned to meet with a mysterious cargo….

Gavin goes back to report his findings to the others..."so there is some good news and some bad the sublight engines are fine but if you want to jump again we're basically going to need to locate another ... his words stopping as the Professor points out the Celestial ship "Well it appears luck and fortune are with us that is exactly what we needed to locate out here another ship is the only way to repair our hyperspace engines."

Getting to his feet and shaking the cobwebs out of his head, Jackson takes a quick stock on the situation. Jogging himself to clear his thoughts he immediately begins to look for the droid and wonders why it had a plasma torch.

"And while we're trying the comms, let's move in close to dock with her!" Clark says eagerly.

Zinn holds up a hand. "We'll try hailing her first; if they've had anything approaching the time we've just had, they're going to be on alert at the very least. If we don't let them know we're friends, they might just open fire out of fear."

Keying the comm, Zinn says, "Celestial, this is the Outrunner. Do you copy? Over."

"They may not even be alive," says Vale. "I could not sense any familiar emotions coming from the ship's location." He looks around at the Otherspace. "There is a great deal of interference, however. I sense… something… out there. An emotion I have not encountered before, a hate—no, something indescribably worse than hate—surrounding this whole place…" He slides back into his seat in the nearby lounge, his brow furrowed in thought.

"Boarding party?" Zuul perks up and questions again: "Did someone say dock? Let'ss do that!"

Zuul starts checking his gear and arming himself while singing a wordless tune.

Alliance Light Frieghter Outrunner; Otherspace

Zinn tried a few more hails over the comms, but he got no reply back from the Celestial. The constant energy-charges in the strange cloud nearby made sensor readings an almost complete waste of time, so the pilot shrugged and moved to manually move the light freighter close to the larger transport's docking tube....

Gavin Storm and Zuul Ksska kept a close eye on the transport through the cockpit windows and as they moved closer to the Rebel vessel through the strange, steel-gray 'otherspace', they soon noticed that the vessel showed signs of damage, though none of it looked particularly devastating. They could also see that the exterior cargo racks were still loaded with crates full of food and supplies bound for an Alliance safe-world...

Professor Clark's academic brain danced with what the realities of this other-dimensional-space might be and how could they be explained if and when he returned to the 'real' galaxy...dimension....whatever...

Vale Starcloud did his best to reach out with the Force; using his Empathy technique again and once again, it was kind of like trying to walk uphill with waist-high water rolling down against you....not impossible, but difficult....and draining. He DID isolate feelings of confusion and fear and determination resonating from a single sentient being coming from the other ship. SOMETHING familiar; a humanoid being was definitely on the Celestial...

With a CLANG that resonated throughout the small ship; the 5 Rebels were all brought back to the here-and-now.....they were in a crippled ship in a strange place and would need parts from the Transport they had just docked with if they were to ever return to the galaxy they knew and lived in. A ship which had NOT returned any hails and which was definitely inhabited by at least one being, if Vale's Force Powers could be believed....

Alliance Transport Celestial; Engine Room; Otherspace

Jackson's body and head continued to throb in pain, but it slowly faded to a manageable level and his brain began to work at normal levels quickly. He smelled the acrid smell of smoke and looking around and up into the massive engine room, he could see wisps of smoke rising from several open access panels on the main Engine drives. Rushing over, it looked like the engines had been deliberately unsynchronized; the damage having been delivered almost certainly from a Plasma Wielder.

As he pondered this, he suddenly remembered the 5 prisoners the Celestial had been transporting....Cellis Mott the pirate, Zardra the bounty hunter, EL-434 the assassin Droid, Imperial Naval Officer Commander Bane Nothos and the most important of all; Imperial Moff Granvin Ravik. He now believed that the prisoners must have somehow re-wired the Droid to have engineered this kind of sabotage....and probably their escape as well! He rushed to the intercom to contact Captain Gryphon on the Bridge, but though he could clearly hear his words echo on the bridge...he got no reply from anyone....

Jackson does a quick body inspection making sure he still possesses all his gear. (OCC Note: If not, he will pickup whatever he can find as an improvised weapon.) He will pull his breather mask and put it on. With the mask in place, he will open the door to the outside corridor and test the environment. If its clear, he will put the mask on the top of his head. Either way he will make his way towards the bridge.

Gavin tries to get information before heading to board the Celestial "Is it save in there or were we able to get anything from the scans? Will we need a breather or can we just board the ship as we are?"

Zinn frowns, looking at Vale. "You said you couldn't sense any 'familiar' emotions; that means you're sensing SOMETHING, even if it's alien. Whatever the case, we need to be prepared." Keying the intercom, Zinn says, "Everyone make sure you're well-armed. Sensors aren't telling me squat, and Vale doesn't have much useful intel for us, which doesn't sit well with me. Everyone should grab a 'breather in case; let's be careful."

Switching off the intercom, Zinn checks his weapons and armor. He grabs a 'breather from the ship's stores, fits it to his face, checks the oxygen charge...upon finding it serviceable, he moves to the airlock to head into the Celestial. He waits for his crewmates to join him; no sense tempting the dark side...

Vale Starcloud shrugs apologetically to Zinn, admitting his own lack of confidence in his sensing of the Force. He follows the others, grabbing a 'breather on the way, and pats the lightsaber at his belt.

'Whatever we find over there, we'll be ready for it.'

Zuul scoffs at the idea of a breather, then pauses and puts one on. He then starts growling and hissing in some sort of pre-game ritual. He seems to get more and more worked up as time goes by.

"He goes first! Battle iss at hand!" Zuul gruffly positions himself at the front and starts rhythmically knocking on the airlock with his weapon. "Tap...tap...tap,tap,tap...."

Alliance Light Frieghter Outrunner and Alliance Transport Celestial; Otherspace

After docking with the upper airlock of the Celestial; the Rebels on board the Outrunner moved quickly through the small airlock space and down into the aft end of the deserted long, central hallway that ran down the center of the upper deck of the Alliance Transport. The vessel was cold and all but emergency lights had been shut-down; leaving the area bathed in eerie reddish light and shadow. Strange strands that looked like bits of spider webs hung from the hallway here and there, but before the Rebels could wonder much about it; a large door that marked the end of the central hallway suddenly opened....

The Rebels waited; tense and at the ready with weapons pointing towards the hatchway; only to be greeted by the sight of an old friend, pointing a weapon at them in return....

Jackson Crodowski, ignoring the throbbing pain in his head, had heard the unmistakable sounds of a ship docking with the Celestial; and he quickly snatched up a Blaster Pistol and opened the door to the central hallway, staying crouched low and behind the door wall....ready for anything...or so he thought!
He was incredibly surprised to see his old friends Clark, Zinn, Gavin and Zuul; along with a man he did not know waiting for him with weapons pointed his way as well....and after a long, awkward moment, weapons were lowered and much sighs of relief and laughs of surprise were had by both parties.....

Vale Starcloud anxiously awaited the life-form he had sensed to show itself, and when he had done so; he was surprised to quickly gather that the human male was known to the rest of his Rebel companions. Without question; this was INDEED the presence he had felt through the Force....yet at the same time; there was something much more ALIEN.....still out there......perhaps not on the ship....but somehow, still all around them....

"Oh are you lot a sight for sore eyes! I know you have questions for me and I have a choice few for you all but we have to get down to the detention block. We were transporting some imps when things went haywire and now I can't get in touch with the bridge. I think the whole thing was a setup to make their escape. Come on!" Crodowski yells as he proceeds down the hall at a run heading to where the prisoners were secured.
