OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
Vale Starcloud
"Thank you, Professor," Vale says to Clark after being patched up.
In the giant hangar-like area, he turns his attention to the strange organic vehicle nestled inside of the opened mound. "How peculiar," he says. He examines the opening in the mound to see whether there are any devices to open and close it. He looks across at another one of the mounds nearby to see if it also can be opened in the same way—if he finds buttons or levers on the hills, he tries those to open the hill nearby; or, if it seems as though the hill's entryways are merely covered by a membrane, he tries to pull the membrane away to reveal within.

Jackson scratches his head. "It all sounds feasible Zinn, I just don't know. Things still seem a bit fuzzy. But I completely agree with you on the sabotage. Anything to slow down people giving chase to us."

The team of Rebel Agents study the strange craft for awhile with Vale going so far as to tear away some membrane housing one of the many small 'domes' which appears to be…for lack of a better term; an 'egg pod' for growing/housing/whatever the repulsorcraft/starfighters…whatever they are.
Not much can be determined about them other than they could possibly be armed with a pair of 'cannons/launchers/something?' as a pair of long tubes run along the outside of the craft and terminated in cones at the front of the vehicle…but then again…perhaps they were fuel nozzles….neither Zinn nor Professor Clark nor the (granted, somewhat muddled at the moment) engineer Jackson could make any kind of definitive statements about the strange craft. While wandering around and exploring though; one dome was shown to NOT house such a vehicle; but rather a strange conglomeration of parts from various OTHER vessels, including a few parts from the Celestial. These parts seemed to be half-covered by various membranes and tendrils….and somekind of glowing liquid seemed to flow both towards the various parts and away from them….leading the Rebels to conclude that somekind of organic 'scanning system' was being used to determine what the parts were and how to utilize them….
Vallimar had a nice moment when he saw that one of the parts was a Motivator from a similar sized Freighter and one they could DEFINITELY use in thier own repairs. It took a bit of help from the extremely strong Zuul to pull the part out and then putting it in the pack with the Power Coupler…they were half-way home….only needing a T-axial stabilizer and a hypercoil to fix thier ship….
Wandering away from the hangar bay, they soon found a strange circular 'room' which seemed to be where many of the tubes with the glowing liquid fed into. Several strange looking 'screens' were visible at odd angles, here and there….though the patterns that flashed on them, no-one could interpret. With most of the party distracted; Clark and Zuul were the only ones to notice movement out of the corner of thier eye and whirling around they were confronted with a nerve-wracking sight…..
A 2 meter tall insectoid alien covered in some kind of thick, organic-looking armor had silenty descended from some kind of webbing/cables and in eerie silence it rushed forward….two pincered hands clawing at them while it scuttled on four legs and its two massice bulbous eyes burned with red fury and its bizarre mouth opened wide. Both men also noticed that a chest (thorax?) mounted cylindrical object seemed to be shifting and pointing at them…..the creature was 5 meters away and approaching rapidly*….

Zuul growls and fires at the creature advancing upon them. "So, you show yourself at last!"

Vale handles the membrane between tenderly pinched fingers. He lets go and gingerly cleans his hands with vague distaste in his eyes. "How intriguing."
The Jedi whirls about in reaction to Clark and Zuul's warnings, too surprised and too weak to do anything more than look at the creature with a mixture of dread and unfazed curiosity.

Jackson, as befuddled as Gavin, fumbles with his blaster, trying to bring it to bear on the approaching insectoid.
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
First Level/Second level of Strange alien ship/station in Otherspace
The strange alien in the exo-skeleton or armored suit or whatever it was, raced forward; the blaster bolt from Professor Clark glancing off of its surface and doing little except leave a burn-trail while Zuul's shot seemed to leak through and cause the insectoid to screech in pain and/or rage as it rapidly closed the distance to the group of Rebels...
Its own launcher/cannon/whatever belched forth a greenish-white blast of energy that slammed into Zinn with enough force to knock the pilot to the ground, though his armor absorbed the blast efficiently enough to prevent any real damage*.....
The alien's two pincer/claws slashed out at the tall Professor and the even taller and much bulkier Barabel. Clark was able to duck under the massive and faster-than-it-would-seem-capable-of slash and the claw did little more than ruffle his hair while Zuul was not so lucky. The other pincer/claw slammed into the Barabel with enough force to shove him back a step and leave a bleeding gash in the Rebel's side that drew forth a hiss of pain from the veteran pirate/mercenary turned Rebel Agent**....
Gavin, Vale and Jackson shook off the effects of the mist enough to react to the situation and drew for their weapons, ready to engage the new threat***....
*Zinn is Grazed; he's at -2 (from the total of any Dice rolls, NOT -2D) for actions this round only; he'll be fine after that
**Zuul is Wounded; he's at -1D for all actions until treated
***These 3 characters still suffer from the penalties of the Mist effects as listed earlier; but they may now take actions in this combat as usual

Gavin takes out his vibroblade and attacks the creature harming the professor. Slashing and slicing at the thing 3 times as it harms his friend.

Zuul
Zuul recoils in pain as the large insect creates yet another lovely scar on his form. One might think he'd get tired of being a pincushion for any number of alien threats, but he keeps on keeping on.
"ARRgGH!! Go on an adventure he sayss, meet nice people he says." He grumbles as he regains his footing.
Zull then charges at the large insect intent on knocking it to the ground.
"He eats bugs at home, maybe he ate your Mother!?"

Clark uses the vibro-bayonet on his carbine to stab the insect-like alien.
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
Jackson stands his ground, his blaster pointed at the alien creature. Jackson waits till there is a clean shot before firing his weapon.
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
Vale Starcloud fires up his lightsaber but avoids moving into melee while there is too much danger of friendly fire in the dog-pile. Instead, he reaches his hand out and opens his mind to the alien creature.
Using empathy on the creature to see whether it is attacking out of bloodthirst, hate, territorial defense, fear, etc.

First Level/Second level of Strange alien ship/station in Otherspace
The battle between the bizarre alien warrior and the Rebel team continued with Zuul the Barabel, reacting quickly and angrily to his wound, rushing the strange foe and slamming into it/him/her with all of his considerable Strength…
The alien was knocked back….a small bit and the Barabel was rather surprised that the arachnid-like being was much denser and heavier than it looked. Perhaps that exo-skeleton thing was a suit of armor? He had little time to ponder the facts as his Rebel companions rushed in…
Professor Clark attempted to ram the vibro-bayonet on the end of his Blaster Carbine into the alien's main body, but his weapon glanced of the side with a shower of sparks and a curse from the academic…
Next, Gavin attempted to slash the thing several times with his own Vibro-blade, but still suffering from the effects of his time in the Red Mist, his first slash missed the enemy by a mile and Clark's neck by centimeters…..
His next two slash attempts never happened as his first wild swing threw him wildly off-balance and it was all the one-time smuggler could do to stay on his feet*….
Vale Starcloud ignited his Lightsaber, bathing the already-strangely lit room in bluish-white light and the young Jedi then concentrated on the Force; using his Empathy ability to attempt to discern something from the alien warrior. What he could tell was that the alien's mind/feelings were unlike ANYTHING he had ever encountered…..the being seemed determined to end anything ALIVE with a religous-like fervor….indeed, it seemed as if it was Born/Made to….if not kill things….to END life…..Vale had to shake his head to clear his head of the crystal-clear horror the other being seemed to accept as its entire purpose of existence. This was ANATHEMA to the Force itself….the young Jedi, already feeling physically weak from the Red Mist, now felt mentally and emotionally drained by the nature of thier foe as well….
Zinn Vallimar and Jackson Crodowski waited for a chance to take shots with thier blasters, and risking it, they fired within mili-seconds of each other. The two bolts both hit thier target and the strange creature emitted a high-pitch scream of pain/rage/frustration and with a sudden splitting down the center like an egg's shell being broken; the exo-skeleton/armored suit/whatever fell off in smoking pieces and the creature underneath, which basically looked like a slimmer, paler version of the armored suit, suddenly shot a line of webbing out of a tail-like appendage on its rear and it zipped away at rapid speed towards the ceiling, in the blink of an eye it was 20 meters away and as it got to the ceiling it started to scuttle away**….
*Gavin is still at -1D to his DEX and all related skills from the Red Mist….which means when you take 3 attacks (-2D) from his melee skill (3D+2…reduced to 2D+2 from the Mist) this leaves you with less than 1 dice to roll, which makes for automatic misses….keep that in mind for the future
**The alien is on the ceiling and everyone has 1 round to do something before its rapid speed takes it out of reach

Clark brings his carbine up, takes a moment to aim, and lets loose a shot at the fleeing alien.

Gavin turns and does nothing....feeling wonky from the mist still and realizing there is a better chance of hitting his friends than their foe.

Vale Starcloud gasps and stares agape at the creature. "How monstrous!" he exclaims to the others. "Destroy it before it destroys us, and who knows what else!"

Cracking his neck after running into a brick wall of a creature, Zuul tries to pull his blaster and fire a shot at the retreating thing.
