Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Date: June 2, 1:00 pm, Tuesday
Season: Early Summer
Weather: Warm, Misty
Moon phase: New Moon
Location: Barrow Moor
The group assembles again the next morning, along with some new friends. Boldar is there, ready to guide you, and/or support you should you like his help. He asks, again, for 2 gp for the trouble. One for today, and one for tomorrow, should the trip take that long...
You head out on a long, grueling trip through the swamp, and again find yourselves at the Barrow Field. You see the path leading to the barrow where Wick and Lhainor Carling died, as well as several other nearby barrows. Where would you like to explore?
Sketch of the nearby barrows is here.
I'm ready to get us moving, if you just want to jump right back into the action. We need Lamech's character sheet and memorized spell, and just confirm that you've decided what you're bringing along, and where it's going. The gear salvaged from Carling's body didn't really find a home, yet, if anyone wants it...

Betdas the Bold
"We know that undead horrors lurk below that barrow," he says, pointing towards the one they explored previously, "it's either return or explore another barrow. As before, I propose we make a circuit of the nearby barrows that are already open, to make sure none conceal lurking gribblies."

"I am not the best point person, but I see well in the dark and am a fair warrior. Just not as tough as the rest here. I can also try to force the unholy back if need be,"
Nimh is wearing plate & carrying shield & mace. Her silver holy symbol of Crom is clearly on display. She is not very large, 5'2" and slender.

Kohrek is ready for action!
Red 5, Standing ... Hey! Is That A Banana?
Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Kohrek agrees with Betdas ... a quick reconnoiter seems in order.

Moony
arrives back in the tavern as the group are getting introduced."You fled from a beetle? Incredulous!" says the priest as he hears the adventurers recount their tale and the sad demise of the two colleagues. Still figuring exploring with a group better than on his lonesome he offers his trusty flail and divine prayers to bolster the groups morale.

So, that map has 2 open barrows, and various closed ones. There are also additional barrows off to the east which might be explored, some of which might be open. Any preferences?
Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
The one we would come to first and so on.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
The most direct path is to the one with the hole in the floor. I see a small number (3 actually) with open doors, several that could be opened with a sledgehammer, and several more that require digging. Have a look. Pick one...
Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Kohrek says First open door to the left of the barrow you entered last time, perhaps?

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
If the first one we come to is the hole in the floor I say we go for it.

"Looks like we go down if someone has rope, I don't."

OOC: I didn’t have the best luck with that one the last time!

"I say we try number 20 first," suggests Betdas.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Just to be clear...
2 of you are suggesting going back down the rope ladder, and tk is proposing a *different*
barrow...? Either is fine by me, but will wait to see how others feel...
Ok, actually, that was 1 for barrow 3, one for barrow 12, 1 for barrow 20. Any other suggestions?

"How about the that one over there then?" Pointing to another one (#3 I guess).

"I have no desire to faff about on this gods-forsaken moor with our thumbs jammed up our asses, so in the interest of moving things along I will change my vote to exploring Barrow #3."

Lhainor
Any of them is fine with me. Pick a door and I'll smash it open if we can't open it otherwise. Or going back to the open one we left is fine too as long as we have a rope.

Fane votes for #3.
Those bandits will be back, at least with that one we won't be on the main road
