Just need to clarify some potential confusion. Am I, as P3, controlling White's Firestarter (F4) as mentioned above, or Armbuster's Stinger (F3) to keep the numbers matching?

I should be correct in saying i am P2 & F2 correct?

Yeah, I was at the B-day party of the missus co-worker from 7 to 10. Got to hit the sack, so next post will probably be when I get up tomorrow (5:30 or 6 ish).
One thing that I don't like about our current situation is that the enemy has the high ground generally doesn't work well for those on lower terrain. Grant some of this has been proven wrong in history...

Very true. Maybe if we knew some real military tactics we could pull something off. Anyone here in RL got some military experience?

In BattleTech, it's really not much of an advantage, unless you're in cover (inside a building or a heavy woods hex).
True, you can look over intervening terrain (woods and low hills) to sight your target. But, in BattleTech, movement is life. If they sit and shoot, they'll have a couple of rounds of getting to fire with impunity, but once we get in gun range, we'll tear them to pieces, because the modified to-hit number is so low.
If they had a lvl 2 hill they could stand on, behind the lvl 3, they could enfilade, which would protect their legs and give them a +1 hit modifier. But they're just up there hanging out in the breeze. I'm perfectly happy for them to say there.
doesn't them being above us also limit where we can hit them to mostly their legs? Or am I just very mistaken in my BattleTech battle system it has been about 7 years.

Alright. It's think it would make it a bit easier to hit them below the torso and a bit harder above that but guess i am thinking of some other system.

Elevated mechs can be seen by everyone on the battlefield because they are above the tree line. Also woods do not block their line of sight you only get bonus for cover for woods you are standing in not any between you and the elevated mech.
ok so they're taking high ground for a better clear shot.

I have posted a weapons chart in the images thread showing heat, distance, damage. etc. The minimum range is also listed. The way minimum works is if a target is within minimum range then the shooting mech gets a 1 for each hex within minimum of the target.
So a AC5 has a minimum of 3. if a mech is 3 hexes away the shooter gets +1, if the mech is 2 hexes away they get a +2 ect. That is what LT orloff went when he talked about getting within their minimum range.
One note on the PPC the line is off by 1, move all the number sover heat:10 damage:10 minimum: 3
Yeah, with light autocannons, LRM's and PPC's, you do one of two things: Move fast and stay at Long range or further from their weapons OR move fast and run in close, up under the minimum range.
The last option can be tricky when fighting mediums and heavies in lights, because if you get too close they can punch or kick you which, as you can imagine, often doesn't go so well for the lights.
