It's a fair point, if Thag wants to vanquish the evil. Rabon will join the conflict as appropriate.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
If Berry can Banish them that's ok with me, otherwise I'd like to destroy them.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
No help from Gullible-mark-wise, I'm afraid.
The prayer is cast against the present undead. There's only one here at the moment.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Prayers are like magic, aren't they, so they don't take a turn?
Would we want to wake up the other ones? Try them all at once, or do them individually?
If we do them one at a time Berry would have a better chance of banishing them and if he doesn't then we fight just one enemy at a time. Then repeat three more times, so definitely four banish attempts and possibly up to four combats. But if we wake them all up then it's one harder banish attempt, and if that fails one harder combat.
I haven't worked out the odds, but I think doing them one at a time might make more sense, it would be easier tests, and we would have 4 of them so that would be 4 chances to pass or fail a skill test. But we would all be hungry at the end if Berry doesn't banish them all. If he does banish them all then he's made four pass tests on his Ritualist which is good for him, and no time has passed (assuming Prayers are like Magic, see my question above).
Open for discussion....

Well, you don't have much choice in the matter. This skeleton is here, now, attacking. You can either try to turn it, or you can fight it, or you can run away, or maybe something else. Waiting isn't much of an option.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Berry will try to banish this one, if not we fight it. Then we'll discuss if we want to do the other three one-at-a-time or as a group.
If Berry isn't able to banish it, then myself, Aoife, and Rabon will fight it. Everyone ok with that? Berry can chip in a die too if he wants and is able to. Maybe not Allric, isn't he Exhausted?

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Fury does say that it must be invoked before a conflict and not during, I'm not sure if it counts as a turn, since spells dont take a turn (bottom of page 43).

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
That's what I assumed. You try to banish it, which will take no time and you get to record a pass or fail on your Ritualist. If you fail then we have to fight it. If you do banish it, then we wake up the next one and repeat. If you're lucky with your rolls we can banish them all without any time passing.shroomofinsanity wrote:Fury does say that it must be invoked before a conflict and not during, I'm not sure if it counts as a turn, since spells dont take a turn (bottom of page 43).
Ludanto has already given you the Obs (i.e. 2) and said that Allric can't help, so I think you should go ahead and roll your Ritualist. Use Fate or Persona if you have them as you deem fit.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Total aside, I can't wait until I level up and am able to use that scroll. Silly clerics, not able to technically cast circled prayers till level 2 :-/
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Yeah, Allric is Exhausted, has no Fight skill, and a lousy Health. He'll stay out of the Kill Conflict.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Ob 3 to turn 2 of them.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Can I claim, if I rp it, that human boasting let's me use my nature without getting that tax?
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Boasting is weird. I don't think it applies here, though.
And actually, it's Ob3 to turn ONE of the two. It's Ob4 to turn both.

Not to be that guy, but I assume I can't use demanding either XD just wanted to check before I go and tax myself.

I don't want to be a rules-lawyer, but ...Ludanto wrote:Boasting is weird. I don't think it applies here, though.
And actually, it's Ob3 to turn ONE of the two. It's Ob4 to turn both.
In the example in the book (page 51) it says "Ulrik is a level 3 cleric. By tapping his nature and tapping a fate point ..."
It doesn't say what Nature Ulrik was being tapped, my guess is "Demanding", so Berry should be able to use that, assuming he has a Fate point to spend. Something like By the powers of the Lords of Life and Death, I BANISH! thee to the dust and oblivion from which thee came.
Insert your own style...
I also cannot find where it says it has two different Obs values. It says (paraphrasing) "Obs of the creature with the highest Might with +1 for each additional creature". Then it says the number of creature affected is the magnitude of success of the roll.
I would interpret that to mean that the Obs is 3 for both of them but Berry needs to get two successes to affect both. Only one success would banish one of them (starting with the one with the least Might) leaving the other free to act.
Edit: And you tie them, and you don't have anything to throw in (Fate, persona) to break the tie, then the margin of success is 0, so both will attack anyway. In that case concede the tie to them to gain 2 Checks.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Completely off-topic, but starting Thursday afternoon thru Sunday afternoon I will be off-line most of the day. I'm going to Fall-In, the HMGS miniature wargaming convention in Lancaster, PA. I'll check in each night when I drag myself back to my motel room though.

Ok, I suppose there might be a subtle distinction, but I knew what I meant.

I suppose I could see "Damanding" if roleplayed. Sure.
