Well a chance to beginners luck manipulator then. On it.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Oh, and would you guys mind burning two torches? I have not been applying the Dim Light penalty at all during the recent fiasco.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
I'll use one of mine.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
We also lit one in the darkness. That's two?
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
I assumed that was one of them, though I was also willing to assume that since it wasn't useful, you might have immediately doused it without wasting any turns. But it makes sense that you kept that one burning. That's two, yes.

I tried the rolls for the Wise. Let me know if it was valid and I will credit the expenditure if so.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
I'm about to walk into work, so I'll post later this evening when I can. But I did want to make a poultice/attempt a healer test to help this camp if we have a check free.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
First, I'm pretty sure Allric already used Thoughtful twice this session. But we didn't agree to that before we started the session, so we'll probably put that rule into effect next session instead.
And unfortunately, while it made for a creative description, I think that "Mark" is important to the nature of the Wise. If you aren't looking to take advantage of somebody through deception, they're probably not a mark.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Fair enough. In this case, I was going for a placebo 'magic feather' effect. I really need a different Wise. Where I meant for it to have some wider applicability, under that definition I don't see how it ever will come into play.
I used Wizards Sight on the Loremaster test and Thoughtful on the Arcanist test. This was his second use of Thoughtful.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Ah! I think you used it against yourself one time so I got confused.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Correct.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
So, with Berry's last rolls we have six checks.Marullus wrote:Aiofe is Afraid.
Allric is Exhausted.
Allric is Injured.
Everyone is Hungry.
Hopefully, Allric can brew the elixir to get Aiofe unafraid. The dice are against it, though.
First check allows Rabon to cook everyone a meal. Or, we eat five of our six remaining rations since we're near the end of our journey and free up two pack slots.
Allric has 2D vs Ob3 and Ob4.
Berry can make treat Allric's injury as an Ob3 instead of Ob4 with his 3D Healer skill, but with the risk that Allric loses a permanent 1D if it fails.
Berry can do an Ob1 Healer test to make a poultice for Exhausted, giving Allric 3D vs Ob3.
Aiofe uses instinct to mend Rabon's helmet.
Rabon uses first check to cook a meal.
Berry uses second check for Healer to try and fix Allric's injury.
Aiofe uses third check to recover from Afraid.
Berry uses fourth check to make a poultice for Exhausted.
Allric uses fifth check to try to recover Exhausted.
Thag uses sixth check to trap the room against Kobolds?
Is that everything?
What spell do you want Allric to cast? Mystic Porter to carry stuff easily or Light? I expect that the light spell (which produces multiple candles) will not be useful if the darkness remains. We're going to just have to light lanterns in that case. But do we want to try? If I don't cast Mystic Porter is Aiofe willing to do the Laborer test to try and one-hand the sack per above?
We have two turns before the end of the session. That probably covers checking the chapel, we skip the basement, and head home.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Thoughts for the darkness. If we use some burning logs as big torches and slide them in the chapel through the doorway, would they provide light, or would we risk burning the chapel down? I know Ludanto can't comment until we actually try it, I'm asking the group if we should.
To set my trap here I'll use up a rope, and the anvils from the previous trap if they are still here.

The anvils (and stones) from the previous trap are still here.

When it's time I'll use a rope and some anvils to make a trap.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
I’m happy to try and carry a sack one handed if that makes things easier for us.
Also, Ludanto, can I just burn a couple of Fate point to allow me to level up later? I have 5 already, but my Wises don’t seem to apply in a lot of cases so I don’t think I’m ever going to get past Level 1 otherwise!

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
jhrrsn, no, you have to use your Fate points on things. You could, however, have spent a Fate to re-roll those sixes on your recovery roll. Which I would allow retroactively this time. That would leave you with just one left. Guess you'll have to find some tests to make.
Also, repairing a helmet is Ob2, but you still made it, so that's good.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Wait... That's been a concern all session. Can we spend a Fate to reroll 6s if we already succeeded? Rusty mentioned that a few times before, figuring he couldn't.
Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Well, it feels a little cheesy, but I can't see where it says that you can't. And it's not risk free, because you have to find tests to spend it on, and then you also might not have the Fate later when you really need it.

Re: OOC Discussion (Session 3)
Personally, I don't think that you should be able to reroll 6's on independent tests that have passed. I only asked that because it was a kill conflict and I was hoping there was some bonus for overkilling my opponent - maybe we'd survive or get a better compromise. I hadn't seen anything like that in the rule book, but I'm not an expert on the rules, so I was checking.
We need to find ways to incur more versus tests, where the amount of successes is open ended and tapping nature and exploding 6's is really beneficial because you just don't know what our opponent might get - like Berry's Manipulator tests against the kobolds. What tests are like that? It is always against an opponent?
To a lesser extent, finding independent tests with higher Ob's would work, too. When the Ob is 1 or 2, it is unlikely you'll end up needing to reroll a 6.
