Khawaji will see if he can locate a good spot to watch from so we don't get surprised well we search and figure things out.

Solomon will search them all, starting with the potential magic-user.

Khawaji surmises that the big rock is a good place to watch from. It's high, and provides a good view in all directions.

Going up there, he notices a white birch tree growing from a crack in the stone. Beneath it, there is a small shrine consisting of a statue of three small figures holding a stone bowl. The bowl is full of water, leaves and algae.

Looking around from above, he sees that the bridge over which they came, to the west, is clear. Looking around for activity in other directions, he spies a trail heading off to the northeast.

Solomon joins in the search of the bodies, and helps to recover the silver and what seems to be the mage's spellbook.

Jaskar will take any rations he can scrounge up from the bandits supplies. Shall we continue to the temple? In the other hand this seems like a good place to set out own ambush if we wanted to.

Khawaji will try to clean up the shrine and say a prayer. to cleanse it. This assumes I think it is good aligned. Then he will head down and let everyone know what I found and the trail to the NE

Jaskar recovers the equivalent of 2 weeks of standard rations. (2 stone encumbrance).

Khawaji cleans the dead leaves out of the bowl, clears it of grime and says a little prayer. It's hard to know if this act of devotion will be appreciated by anyone, but things here have been set right. He goes down to tell the others what he found.

Sounds good.

You guys were, on arriving at this spot, pretty close to having done a full day's travel. Do you want to press on (essentially force march), make camp, or do something else?

Khawaji will suggest making camp and posting at least 1 watcher up high.

Making camp sounds good

Jaskar will have a look around the forrest edge for tracks or anything unusual, not leaving sight of his companions.

Hamiya will ask Kareek to make one last circle as the sun sets, checking for any approaching creatures or people.

Willow supports making camp. Especially since she's out of spells.

The group makes camp after extensive examination of the area for suspicious signs or other intruders. It seems clear that this is a spot used fairly often to camp, as there are signs of repeat visitors to the area, though you see no one else around at the moment.

The night passes peacefully, and the morning of the 9th dawns a bit chilly, as you are up fairly high in the mountains. Originally obscured, you have uncovered what seems to be the continuation of the trail onwards toward the temple.

Over breakfast, you discuss what to do next. Aghilas is refreshed by his meal, and regains 2 HP.

Alright, continuing...

The group follows the trail that they spied earlier. The hike takes about 6 hours, and travels down into a valley and into a gap between two mountains. The trail opens up into a wide clearing, the site of a ruin. You see several ancient stone arches, hung with moss and overgrown with vegetation. These trace out the outline of a fairly large (maybe 150 foot x 30 foot) ruined building oriented East-West. There seems to be little left of the building except for these arches and some overturned stones.

There don't seem to be any people around at the moment, but you can see that the ground dips to the west of the structure, and that there is a door-sized opening there, that looks like it goes to an area under the foundation of the ruin.

The area does seem pretty deserted. There's definitely signs of activity about... there is a pile of refuse a few hundred feet from the ruin, and there is some grafitti similar to the stuff you saw at the ambush site, but there don't seem to be any people around.

I wonder if we could seal this up somehow. Didn't they say something about guard dogs too? Willow asks.

Khawaji will take a look at the doorway and see if he can explore just the opening for any hints as to what lays beyond.

Inside the opening, there are stairs going down, to the west. You see that the stairs are covered in dirt and dead leaves. They descend 30 feet into darkness.
