Hazrahi takes the lead. I cannot abide standing by while others may be in danger.

The group crawls into the tunnel, and descends down the ladder. Hazrahi leads the way, followed by Khawaji, then Jaskar with a torch. Next down the ladder are Aghilas, Willow, Solomon with a lantern, and Hamiya with a torch.

The ladder descends about twenty feet into the center of the southern wall in a thirty foot by thirty foot room. Running west to east through the center of this room is a small stream, with two small stone bridge walkways going over it along the east and west walls. In the center of the north wall, an opening leads into darkness.

There are whisps of webbing attached to the various surfaces of the room, with wrapped lumps, which might be small animals, attached to them. The webbing gets thicker around the opening in the north wall.

Hazrahi says, Does anyone have a knife to cut open these lumps of webbing?

The paladin watches the opening in the north wall very closely.

Khawaji

I will do it with my dagger. Keep an eye out for the spiders. Khawaji slings the net over his shoulder and starts working on the bundles with his dagger.

Jaskar draws his sword, holding his torch in his off hand.

Hamiya hops nervously from one foot to the other.

As the others watch for spiders, Jaskar cuts into one of the bundles. He finds that the bundle contains a dead bird. The bird is partially liquified, and some goo drips out of the bundle onto the floor. Nearby, he finds one with a rat tail poking out, and another that seems to be a giant fly. The bundles seem to contain the spiders' prey, but none of these is big enough to hold a child.

Hazrahi says, OK, let's do this. Keep that light close by, and have a second one at the ready if the first goes out.

He grips his warhammer tightly and moves into the opening in the north wall.

Jaskar follows closely behind Hazrahi. He examines the ground for tracks as he goes.

Hamiya peeks under the bridges, if she can do so without lying down. That is, if they are somewhat elevated.

Then she brings up the rear with her torch.

The group heads over one of the little bridges, and approaches the northern opening. Hamiya is able to see that the water passes into and out of the room through holes under the bridges. There are grates preventing easy access to these holes, but it would be possible to crawl through them if the grate was removed.

Approaching the opening in the north wall, it's clear to Hazrahi that he won't be able to avoid the webs if he enters the northern opening. They cover all of the surfaces, leaving a sort of funnel. The webbing is thick enough that you cannot see what is beyond it. He may be able to push his way through, or hack his way through, though...

Khawaji, I think we will need to hack our way forward.

Solomon stands watch and stays alert for any spiders.

Hazrahi points to his warhammer and says, I don't have any implement that can help here. Someone else will have to take the lead.

I can take the lead Khawaji says as he transitions from his dagger to his short sword.

"I bet the spiders will come to us if we make noise. It might be easier than trying to slowly cut our way through the webs."

How wide is the North opening?

Khawaji moves forward, and hacks at the webs with his sword. The sword slices through the web, but some of the web sticks to it. A second hack, and his sword is trailing several web fibers. It seems that the sword will need to be cleaned off every few whacks... As he prepares for the next hack, he notices movement in the web. Spilling from what at first seemed to be another animal trapped in the web come hundreds of little spiders. The egg sac then spills open, and a swarm of little spiders crawl out, advancing on you!

Actions...?

Hazrahi

If Khawaji backs up, Hazrahi backs up with him.

If Khawaji stands and fights, Hazrahi starts squishing spiders with his warhammer.

How big are the baby spiders?
Jaskar and Hamiya back up, stomping on any spiders that get close. If they are clear of the webs they will use their torches to burn the spiders, but won't risk setting the hallway on fire.

The spiders are little, about an inch long.

You're talking about backing up... you're in a 30x30 room with a stream cutting it in half... do you want to back up like with a 5 foot step, go up the ladder, or...?
