And does the rest of the party have any other business to take care of before we leave New Dathan, the capital of the human empire in Kinra?

The group finishes their preparations in the city and contacts those who need to know of their activities. It is late afternoon now and the man from earlier, the one who fled from Iron Glade, is ready to set out.

The roads leading out of New Dathan are well maintained, a steady patrol keeping the lands secure from bandits and wild creature attacks. It is when you leave the outlying farm fields and enter the open plains of Kinra that you find it necessary to be on your guard. It is 3 days journey to Iron Glade on foot if you choose to stick to the roads, and only 2 if you travel by horse. Many of you know these lands well, and the dangers that may lie in wait. No matter how many patrolmen the king sends out, bandits and highwaymen will always find a way to avoid the authorities, that and the forests and mountains are home to many wild and dangerous creatures.

How will you all choose to travel?

Flynn straps his boots tightly. "A long walk it is then."

Upon reaching the outer lying lands of New Dathans farms, the dirt road opens up to vast grassland filled with hills and various boulders of shapes and sizes. Standing on top of a big hill, you can see that this stretches for miles. A few days travel it shall be, and without further ado, you set out at once, most, if not all of you on foot.

A couple hours of silent marching goes by and is abruptly brought to a halt as you hear the sounds of distant explosions.

"Can anyone see anything? asks the swashbuckler, listening intently. "That way!"

As you try to determine what caused that strange sound, you see two figures coming at you from the road ahead. It doesn't take you long to notice that they are horses, quite spooked and.... their tails are on fire? Just over the hills beyond, you can see a couple of smoke plumes.

The stranger from Iron Glade holds his head again, clearly in pain. He groans and mentions something about nightmarish flaming skeletal steeds trampling townspeople. "They follow me, those nightmares, or visions or whatever they are!" He draws his sword, expecting the worst, and makes his way down the hill towards the smoke.

"Stay frosty. There are likely to be townsfolk fleeing as well." Flynn says pulling his bow from his back and holding an arrow.

Elethil turns stone-faced. Explosions? Flaming skeletal steeds? Dark magic is indeed afoot.

He readies his bow and follows the stranger.

The horses, whose tails are still quite on fire, do not stop for you and run past in fright. Up ahead, you get a better look at what just happened. Before you lies a low road, sandwiched between boulders of various sizes. In the center are two wagons, turned over and on fire. Scorch marks can be found all over the place and two bodies are found on the ground, motionless. Besides from the distant whinnying of the spooked horses and the crackle of flames, nothing else can be heard.

The man who charged ahead groans and comes to a stop. "What could have done this? This is- it's horrible!" He chokes on his words as he keeps a hand on the hilt of his sword looking frantically for any survivors.

Once an official marching order is established, I will update this image. For now, we shall stick with what has been mentioned. Coming from the right, Mehath takes point and the man from Iron Glade follows closely behind. Akabel is somewhere in the middle of the group. That leaves for Eric, Elithil and Flynn to decide the rest.
