Also: I have no idea how a party is supposed to survive this battle when there's water to deal with too.

Considering Malibran was standing over/near Risdac this past round, does he know his location enough to touch/heal him this round?

agreed - The water would make this a devastating battle!

Malibran is close enough to Risdac to feel his way to him and heal him in the dark, yes.

even without the water the battle is not exactly simple or easy either. Appears I picked all the wrong spells at least to use so far...now if i can just quit retching long enough to cast another one... ;)

Not sure how I am going to deal with the insect swarm. Maybe I can use the cube of force. Can I get it out of my pouch and activate before it reaches me?

The cube of force wouldn't help. Xale is in melee with the monster, so he, the insects, and the monster are all in the 10'x10' space that would be inside the cube.

What negatives does the monk get to his "to hit" roll for fighting in darkness, using his other senses to locate the gargoyle?

What are the odds of accidentally striking Malibran?

It's normally -4 to hit in darkness. I don't know offhand if a monk would have any abilities to mitigate that.

I'll get back to you on the odds of hitting an ally when fighting in darkness.

At the very least if the monk has anything similar to blind-fighting NWP from 2e I'd think that would be how to treat him fighting "blind" or in the dark. Granted we're running 1e, this is just merely a suggestion.

Also their awareness ability might also help them fighting an enemy in darkness/blindness to avoid the wrong targets as well as avoid attacks from the enemies, just food for thought.
Among the most basic capabilities granted by monks' control of their own ki was an enhanced awareness of their own surroundings, improving their ability to sense and avoid attacks.

Monks are powerful enough in 1e as it is. If they have a blind-fighting skill BtB, Khogeki has it, obviously. But I'm not adding yet another monk power to the existing list. ;)

True. I was just making a couple statements that would just merely help to the conversation about monks and fighting blindly/in darkness. Not trying to make a monk any more powerful than they already are. ;)

I just added this, which I had forgotten, to the last update:
The spores in Tanner's flesh sprout...well, sprouts (-2 HP).

I'll say there's no risk of hitting an ally as long as your can hear each other. That should be enough for you to be able to focus your attacks on enemies instead of friends.

If for some reason you can neither see or hear in melee, targets will be determined randomly. :)
