Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Risdac Egargi
Angry at the attack from the demon gargoyle thing, the giant uses every fiber of his being to be as physically imposing and ugly as he possibly can, and then berates the demon. I summoned you, and YOU WILL DO MY BIDDING! Now, go kill the frog things, starting with that one! he cries, casting Magic Missile, sending all 9 of the purple bolts of energy streaking towards the frog creature attacking Hallagad.Zhym wrote:"Youuuu daaare summmmon meeee? I havvvveee eaaaaten mannnny off yourrrrr"— it hisses...up...at Risdac before realizing it is threatening something at least twice as big as it is. And at least twice as ugly. "...kind. Erm. You will die?" it finishes lamely. It flies up at the mage, managing to scratch him with the claws of one hand (-4 HP). His other claws and his teeth grind against Risdac's tough skin.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. Tanner
Despite being outnumbered and on a narrow ledge, Tanner actually seems to be in better spirits, now that he has enemies to fight.
IF Possible, he'll shift position so that his back is more-or-less protected. He attacks the 'second' vulture demon (the one who did the most damage)
att[1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8 THAC0 4
att[1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5 THAC0 4

Thanks for cleaning up my mistakes, Zhym

Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Combat Round 4
On the vulture ledge:
As Tanner tries to put his back to the wall, the vulture-humanoid in front of him looks down at the huge gash in its chest, then back up at Tanner. It opens a blood-encrusted beak and cries out in a deafening screech. Literally. Tanner can't hear anything but a ringing in his ears. The screech stuns him (CON check: 20), giving the wounded vulture thing enough time to teleport away with a *poof*.
The other one—or three, based on the number of shifting images—continues attacking, scratching Tanner in the arm (-6 HP)
In the corridor below:
The snake-like thing—more like a giant eel, now that you think of it, with fish-like scales—rears back and breathes forth another burst of boiling water. Malibran and Risdac turn away from the full force of the blast; the Unseen Servant calmly avoids it entirely. (Malibran, Risdac: -6 HP). The gargoyle-like monster also gets scalded.
Angry at the attack from the demon gargoyle thing, Risdac the giant uses every fiber of his being to be as physically imposing and ugly as he possibly can, and then berates the demon. "I summoned you, and YOU WILL DO MY BIDDING!" he commands. "Now, go kill the frog things, starting with that one!"
The gargoylish thing shakes and utters a rasping, gravelly sound that Risdac realizes is laughter. It grabs the injured wizard with one claw and bites into his chest, pulling a great hunk of flesh out with its beak. Risdac falls to the ground with a mighty thud. (-10 HP; at -4 and bleeding out.). "Whossssss nexxxxt?" hisses the monster, looking around at Malibran and Khogeki.
Malibran steps up and takes a chance to melee with the gargoyle-thing. He bashes it in its head.
Khogeki, freed from the bugs, bows in gratitude to Malibran then lays into the snake-like monster with a flurry of punches. The serene expression on his face contrasts with the precise violence of his fists. The giant eel convulses and falls to the floor, dead!
Further back:
The toad-man monsters continue to squeeze and nom on Hallagad (-13 HP) and Rool (-19 HP). Hallagad passes out from blood loss and shock (0 hp; stable if he isn't hit again). Rool struggles to break free then starts changing shape into an ochre jelly.
Xale throws his hammer at the frog demon again. And again and again. His first toss misses, but the second two slam into its hide with satisfying thunks. The reeling toad monster releases his grip on Hallagad and turns toward Xale.
Odilo casts another spell at the toad-man monster, but this one, too, seems to have no effect on it.
One monster is defeated and another has fled, but two heroes are down. The battle has turned, perhaps—but for whom?

His unfettered mind completely at peace, he races toward the batrachian horror that is murdering Rool and calmly smashes into it with 'the thousand-hand strike.'

Combat Round 5
On the vulture ledge:
Tanner presses his back to the wall, gasping from pain as his ears roar. "Damn you, fookin' demon!" he shouts. Or maybe he whispers. He can't tell.
The vulture-man puffs out its chest and sprays a cloud of spores at Tanner. He skin feels...tingly. (-5 HP) He attacks, the ringing in his head louder than any sounds of battle. The first attack seems to draw blood and the second dispels one of the three shifting images.
In the corridor below:
The Unseen Servant charges aft to the aid of Rool, leaving Malibran to fight the gargoyle thing alone. But Malibran loses his grip and his mace flies 30' into the room beyond. He ducks the demonic monster's counterattacks.
Risdac bleeds (-1 HP).
Further aft:
Rool completes his transformation into an amoeba-like ochre jelly and slips out of the toadman's grip. Khogeki arrives and calmly unleashes another flurry of attacks. But he misjudges the distance to his target and punches nothing but air.
Odilo, frustrated that none of his spells seem to have any effect on the monsters, casts a protection spell on himself.
Xale throws his hammer at the toadman charging him, splitting its head open. It falls to the ground, dead.
The remaining toad thing pops out of existence in front of the monk and reappears right behind Xale, next to Odilo. They immediately start to feel sick from its foul stench.

Combat Round 6
On the vulture ledge:
The creature slashes and bites at Tanner with everything sharp and pointy it has. Its beak tears a chunk out of Tanner's arm (-5 HP) even as it scrapes one claw against the wall (fumble; no attack with one hand next round). Tanner's attack dispels the other image, leaving him with just one vulture-thing to fight.
The spores in Tanner's flesh sprout...well, sprouts (-2 HP).
In the corridor below:
Malibran draws his hammer to attack the gargoyle thing. The winged monstrosity easily avoids the priest's blow only to be impaled by Jade Destiny, the sword of the speedily onrushing Khogeki.
A shroud of darkness falls around them. Nearby, now unseen in the black, Risdac continues to bleed his way toward death (-1 HP).
Further aft:
Rool changes forms again, taking on a human shape. He moves to Hallagad's side.
On the aft ledge, Odilo pukes his guts out, overcome by the foul stench of the toad thing. Xale is nauseated but manages to keep his breakfast in his belly. He turns and fights the monster, smashing it with his hammer. The monster's skin is like stone, but it staggers from Xake's blows.
The toad-man demon opens its mouth. A swarm of stinging insects flies right at Xale!
