Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Interesting that we can import characters. I'm thinking maybe of Malibran (cleric) - he did survive the ToH after all - but how lucky can one character get?!!
But to be honest, I'd probably take advantage of the re-roll option to get a better strength as a cleric's fighting will undoubtedly be called upon....
I'm open to playing any class, however, if folks have a hankering for something particular.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
As a single-classed human cleric, Malibran could add the 4 bonus attribute points. Not that that would get his strength into bonus territory.
I suppose you could re-roll and still call him Malibran. But a little ToH continuity would make for some fun flavor. It's nice when the characters have an actual history.

Do you remember Odilo's fate? Was he killed normally or "forever destroyed?" If the former, maybe there's a way he made it back. If the latter...

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
To be honest I'd have to look back at the game to see how you had phrased it. I think if I remember He was sucked into something pretty much trapped there. Though let me look back and see how it was worded.Zhym wrote:Do you remember Odilo's fate? Was he killed normally or "forever destroyed?" If the former, maybe there's a way he made it back. The 'first draft' of Tanner is posted. I threw in a 'tool kit' for him- mundane hand tools- and detailed it in the 'notes' section. If any of it is too hinky for your game, just let me know.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Here's what I'm thinking for magic item selection:
- Choose up to 25,000 XP worth of magic items.
- One may have a maximum bonus of +5, another may be +4, all others may be a max of +3.
- For magic items with varying strengths (e.g., a girdle of giant strength) or special or rare properties (e.g., a ring of invisibility that also suppresses sound), I'll roll for strength or to see if they have that property (the roll will be weighted so the chances are higher than BtB).
- I will assign additional magic items.

I think that sounds fine.Zhym wrote:Here's what I'm thinking for magic item selection:

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Thanks Zhym. Ring of Protection works as a +5 or +4 item; not a variable strength item that you roll for, correct?
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
A +3 ring of protection is fine. A +4 ring of protection (+2 for saving throws) is rare enough that I'd roll for that. I'll give it a 50/50 chance.
I'll admit I'm a little worried about making a monk with base AC of -2 unhittable.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
On second thought, go ahead and take the +4/+2 ring if you want it. +5, since it doesn't actually appear in the table (oddly enough), is out, though.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Would this 25,000 worth of equipment be above and beyond anything we bring with us from ToH?
btw - i'm okay with an unhittable monk. One less character to heal!

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
That's just for new PCs. We'll do imported characters separately.

Don't forget to roll for exceptional strength.Urson wrote:The 'first draft' of Tanner is posted. I threw in a 'tool kit' for him- mundane hand tools- and detailed it in the 'notes' section. If any of it is too hinky for your game, just let me know.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Thanks, Scott, but I used part of the 'humans add up to 4 points' to get to 18 St, and used the rest to adjust other stats. If I read Zhym's instructions correctly, I don't have any points left.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
A fighter with 18 strength gets exceptional strength. Go ahead and roll the d100. Using up your four bonus points just means you can't increase the exceptional strength.
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
OK, thanks. I decided to err on the side of caution this time.
