You return to the northern door and determine, based on examining the frame and hinges, that it opens towards you. There are no visible handles or latching mechanisms.

Sitrus asks, "Hey, did somebody pick up that kid's crowbar?"

If not, he returns to the altar chamber and retrieves Kid Crimson's crowbar (and Toldren's sword that KC was using—can't remember if he already grabbed it or not), then once back at the northern door attempts to pry the hinges loose.

Foul lends a hand where she can with the hinges.

"These have got to be the hardest to open doors that I have ever seen! Reminds me of jail!"

Miss Cleo looks around again as the others try to get the door open.

"Me tink der has ta be a better way ta get aroun in ear. Do dem who live ear juss walk aroun in groups all da time so dey can open all dees heavy doors wheneva dey need to?"

She inspects the walls and floor as the door is dealt with.

Sitrus pries with all of his might against the door’s metal hinges, but he barely scratches the edges. The hinges appear set into the stone wall and frame, with no visible fasteners or anchor pins. The hinge slot has the most minute of clearance and looks to be the work of a master tradesworker. The door does not appear to open from this side, or it is barred (or locked) from the other side.

Miss Cleo insects the wall and floors, but all she notices are impact points where the door has opened against the polygonal wall countless times.

Foul

"This is a dead end. Lets go back around to the other door and see if leads back this way."

Miss Cleo agrees.

They both move back into the huge room and check out the door alongside the acid pit.

Returning to the altar room, you make your way past the pool of acid and stand near the unopened, western door. The door is the same stone and oval portal as the other doors in this room and is set in a similar frame surrounded by polygonal masonry. There are pockets in the body of the door that are shaped to allow gripping if one were to pull the door into the room.

Foul and Cleo pull on the handles, asking for help if they can't open the door alone.

The efforts of three, pivot the stone door into the altar room to reveal a 5 foot-wide corridor constructed of polygonal blocks. The corridor ends 40 feet ahead, and branches north and south. Flickering torchlight, from around the corner, illuminates the passage. A faint cough is heard from somewhere ahead, along with the smell of soiled bedding.

Hoping they have finally found the missing townspeople, Cleo and Foul slowly creep ahead down the hall to see what the torchlight beholds.

Sitrus brandishes his weapon with the awkwardness of an amateur whose only experience in confrontational sport is playing beach volleyball, and steps forward beside Irakas.
