Saracen seeing the fourth bug appear behind the one he just shot at, will fire again at this new creature.

Lightfinger points past Jack's face, to make certain he's paying attention.

To Aladdin! He hisses, He's alone with that bug! I'll help Man-Mountain Monocle! Gambling that Chancey, Luther and Saracen can handle to oncoming creature, the Tallfellow crosses the path and skitters thru the underbrush until he's behind the Beatle attacking the largest party member.

Trusting that Avalaa's magic can handle whatever commotion is going on behind him, Chauncey, undesirous of a melted upper torso and unwilling to count on the continued excellent performance of the martial types, commits to Sleeping the beetle coming down the path (4). As the fine mist leaves his body and rushes forward, the possibility that his spell might not work on the creature never occurs to him.

Beetle Mania Round 2 (minus the puns)
Earthday, The 25th of Reaping
Late Morning, Hot, Muggy, Buggy


The martial prowess of the group shines as the fighter types do much damage against the dangerous oncoming insects. Monocar gets that look in his eyes again once he is bitten. He swings his deceased elf friend’s sword down hard at the bug, the stroke easily penetrating the things hard shell-like carapace. Avaala unleashes his guard dog on the bug as well. Rollo has eaten a lot of insects out here since his arrivial, but none of them were this big. He bites at its long legs, trying to snap one like a twig. The insect does not retaliate with another bite, instead turning itself around to face away from the trio.

Lightfinger points Jack towards the lone and in trouble Alordan before rushing across the trail to attempt a backstab on the closest monster. As he draws near, he sees that the bug has turned around and is possibly about to flee the scene. Jack is about to fire his bow again, but changes his mind when he thinks about the possibility of hitting the struggling ranger. As he arrives on the scene towards the rear of the group, he watches Alordan smash the big bug hard with his longsword, rending a massive gash in the things back. Yellowish goo and slimy ochre pour out of the wound. Jack tries to stab at the bug as well, but it is able to sidestep his blow. It bites at Alordan, nipping him in the leg slightly. 4 dam

Luther and Saracen fire on the next oncoming bug, but this time only one arrow hits the thing. The creature wiggles its disturbing head digits around in the air again and begins to turn its body towards the 2 hot meat sacks. No problem when you have such an adequate wizard along. Chauncey’s patience pays off as he tosses his sand in the direction of the rotating creature, putting this monster to sleep just like he did the huge crab. The beetle plops down onto the trail, now apparently sleeping peacefully in the midst of all the chaos.

Suddenly, everyone hears a loud, dull popping noise over the usual din of the jungle. The deafening, explosive noise comes from Monocar's direction, shooting out from the ass end of the beetle. It is followed by a cloud of reeking, reddish, acidic vapor that spreads out in a thick circle that is almost 10 feet around. The acid burns any exposed skin and assails the moist areas of the ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and throat of Monocar, 9 dam Rollo, 7 dam and Avaala 6 dam who are all caught in the cloud. The three instantly begin coughing and puking, trying to expel the vapor from their delicate systems. Avaala falls to his knees and eventually passes out cold from the terrible experience. The cloud begins to drift in the direction of Saracen who remains just outside of its dangerous effects. Lightfinger looks on in horror as the cloud moves away from the carnage, glad that he came around from behind the deadly monster and didn't take the most direct route.

Actions!

I need a percentile roll [d100] from Lightfinger, Saracen, Monocar, and Rollo. If your roll is 20 or less, you are stunned from the hot blast of ass juice and cannot take an action. If you roll over 20, please make a second roll to indicate if you were deafened by the blast. Any second rolls of 20 or less results in you being unable to hear for 2d4 rounds. Anyone not stunned can take a normal action.

Growling and muttering about the injuries done to his cohorts, Luther takes a round to look down the trail -In the direction of the arrow that says 'trail' to see if there are any other bombadier beetles coming. If not, he'll step out onto the trail, prepping to move to Monocar's aid.

He will move away from the cloud of acid as quickly as possible, stumbling into the trail and backing out of the spreading cloud.

Once clear, if he has time he will turn and shoot his arrow at the beetle assing Monocar, Avala and the dog

Luther creeps forward up the trail to see if any more beetles are coming. The path to the west looks clear, so the burly ranger rushes back to help the others. He passes by Chauncey, who has also stepped out of the bush to finish off his sleeping victim. Though not exactly sure how to quickly dispatch such a creature, the mages past learnings prove more useful than imagined as a few punctures with his darts seems to do the trick rather effectively.

Rollo tries to bite at the giant insect again, but his sneezing, wheezing, and puking prove to be a distraction. The bug bites back, ineffectively. Monocar tries to attack as he positions himself in front of the fallen wizard. The burning in his eyes and throat cause him severe disorientation and he drops his sword as he stumbles around blindly.

Saracen moves out of the way of the slow moving cloud of deadly red vapor. He gets to the trail with enough time to shoot one arrow back at the enemy. The shaft skips off the hard back of the bug, almost hitting Rollo as it disappears into the bush. Lightfinger stands there dumbfounded and unable to move from the intense shock force of the ass blast. Seeing the damage caused by the acidic vapor, the halfling doubts that a single beetle could melt a full grown man. But if a few of them all unleashed their cloud at once....... :shock:

Alordan dances around as he fights, making damn sure that he stays out of the path of this enemies back door. He stabs again, nicking the thing with his sword. Jack jumps into the action as well, stabbing into the big bug with his sword. The bug looks nearly finished now, but that doesn't stop it from attacking again. It snaps at Jack and gashes the boy badly with its viscous maw. 8 dam

Avaala lies unconscious in the dirty underbrush. Being unable to cough or spit to dispel the vapor that is burning through his systems, blood now begins to trickle out of his eyes and nose. 1 dam

Dammit, Jack! Get clear! NOW! Even as he shouts this, Luther is heading for the fallen Avaala. He scoops him up and heads for the trail.

His intent, once they're clear of the fight, is to pour his water over Avaala to try and flush off the acid.

Rollo, still game for a fight with the bug, is unfortunately also still impacted badly by the thing's earlier attack. His bite misses again.

Dropping his bow Saracen will retrieve his two-handed sword and charge the beetle attacking Monocar still.

[1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9 : [1d10+3] = 4+3 = 7 : [3d6+3] = 9+3 = 12
