Dwernoc watches as the Rat opens the door. He listens expectantly for something, anything. He pulls his curved dagger from its scabbard. He glances over his shoulder just in case a threat is approaching from behind.

The highest tier of the pyramid is a single 40' square room. The room smells old and musty. The dust on the floor has been disturbed, though no special details can be made out. Three huge bronze cylinders reach from the floor to the ceiling in the middle of the room. In the center of each cylinder, facing you at floor level, is a bronze door. Each door has a bronze handle that can be used to pull the door open.

Virmel the Worm lectures unhelpfully, "Don't touch anything without inspecting it closely first! We have no idea what was activated by the switch, or what other traps might be lurking."

He moves cautiously to look at the cylinders. He heeds his own advice and avoids touching them for now.

Rojo the Rat

Rojo moves carefuel into the room. He moves to the rightmost (eastmost) pillar, and begins examining it, hoping to see if there is any sign it's been used, or if he can spot any traps on the door.

Yisun, scimitar held ready, hangs back and keeps an eye on the way behind them while the others examine the columns.

Florin continues to play things safely not touching a thing and staying back out of Rojo's way.

Rojo will investigate the trap. Can he tell what it will do? Can he deactivate it?

Missed this one.

Urrok does not notice anything amiss with the door. The pillar and door are both made from bronze.

Rojo can not be certain of what the trap does but he thinks he can deactivate it. Is that what he tries?

Virmel the Worm investigates the third pillar with an excess of caution.

I assume you mean the middle pillar? The two ends are already covered.

Dwernoc stands next to Yisun. He speaks quietly, "If I am judging our position correctly, I would say that these pillars are directly below the statues of the gods above. Perhaps they are somehow connected?"

Florin says calmly from his spot out of the way "I suppose we could give aid with the trap checking you'd like us to Rojo."

While looking for a way to disarm the trap he's found, Rojo tells Florin "Why not? Many eyes make quick work."

Rojo pulls his tools out and fiddles a bit before feeling confident that he has disabled the trap. But just before he opens the door, Florin stops him, unsure that the trap is disabled. Rojo takes a second look and realizes that Florin is correct. Working at the mechanism again, Rojo once again thinks he has it disabled which Florin agrees with.

Virmel investigates the middle door but finds nothing amiss.

Virmel, seeing that the capable Rojo needed a second pair of eyes, waits for a second opinion on approaching the middle pillar. In the meantime he considers Dwernoc's statement. "Fascinating. Why doors, then? Why enter a column beneath a statue? A manner of communing with the gods? Receptacles for sacrifices? But then, why trap them? And how far down do they go? I'll be very interested to see inside one of these."

"I don't see any traps on this door," Urrok says, "but I will not be offended if another pair of eyes were to take a look before we open it. I am far from an expert in such matters."
