Rojo the Rat

Rojo suspects that the trap has already sprung (and killed this beast man) but he will search for traps in and around the entrance before heading inward.

Rojo finds a hidden pressure plate just inside the door held open by the beast-man's corpse. Testing the plate leads to no reactions so Rojo feels safe in assuming that this is the plate that sprang the crossbow trap which took out the beast. How far down the corridor is Rojo going to check traps?

Rojo the Rat

Being somewhat optimistic, Rojo will light a torch and move up the corridor. Figuring the next logical place for another arrow trap would be at the turn, he will advance to the spot just short of the bend, and search the 10x10 area of the turn for traps before moving further in, to the north.

Rojo checks the area at the bend but does not find any sign of additional traps. Proceeding along, the corridor travels another 20' north and ends at a closed door.

Florin feeling a bit more confident seeing Rojo trap checking will enter and follow behind allowing Rojo to continue his skills with out himself getting in Rojo's way.

Rojo the Rat

Rojo will check the door for traps, and listen to see if he can hear anything beyond it before opening the door.

Do you guys want to set up default stuff like that, and marching order? Rojo may be a good scout, but he's not a great warrior...

Rojo does not hear anything on the other side of the door, however he does find a peculiarity in the door frame. There is a rocker switch in the floor that is set off by opening the door. The door is obviously trapped however he is not sure in what way.

Virmel the Worm whines: "These were hardly a hospitable people, were they? But we think our unfortunate door-stop's companions made it through here, don't we? So there must be a way through. Do you think you can, oh, I don't know, disengage the switch? Or open the door without triggering it?"

Rojo the Rat

Rojo will examine the switch closely, and see if there's a way to either leverage the door over the switch so it doesn't engage, wedge something into the switch, so that it will stay in its current position when the door is opened, or maybe saw off the top of the switch, so the door can open without brushing it.

Florin tries to stand out of the way and avoid anything Rojo mentions is a trap or trigger to one.

Whomever designed the switch was good. There is an indent in the door so the switch sits high enough to go into the indent. Opening the door will cause the switch to trip. Closing the door will reset the switch though you think you may be able to keep the switch from resetting.

Rojo the Rat

Rojo will wave everyone back around the corner, crouch down and to the side (so he's out of the way of where a spear trap might be aimed) and try to trigger the switch *without* opening the door.

The switch rocks back and forth a slight bit before hitting the bowl depression in the door and does not move any further.

Dwernoc watches from a distance. He stays silent so as not to disturb Rat and his work with the traps.

Virmel the Worm unsheathes his shortsword. "What is the switch made of? Do you want to hack at it with my sword? Or do you want to crack the door open a bit, and I'll pry it the rest of the way with my blade?"

Looking to others, he adds, "Or perhaps someone has a longer sword? The idea is to stay out of the path of whatever might be triggered."

Rojo the Rat

Rojo will wave everyone back around the corner, crouches down on the ground along the west wall, and slowly opens the door, watching for something to happen when the switch rocks to the open position.

As the door creaks open only Rojo is able to hear the click that emanates from the switch but nothing else happens.

Are you holding the door open or do you just leave it be once you have opened it?

Virmel whispers insistently, oblivious to Rojo's need to think: "Nothing? Nothing yet? Perhaps it triggers when the door swings shut, trapping the unsuspecting in the room. Shall we prop it open?"

Rojo the Rat

Puzzled by the lack of... well, anything... from the switch, Rojo listens closely as he holds the door open.

"It may have sounded an alarm... get ready..."

Lacking a spike, Rojo will try to jam one of his daggers under the door to hold it open, if there's no sign that the switch called anyone.
